With the gas, the car definitely should be only be using premium gas. Minimum 91 octane. The FA24 has a 12:5:1 compression ratio, going with low octane fuel puts you at serious risk for knock. Other than that, fantastic video!

Just to clarify a few things: - Toyota recommends premium for a reason. This is a high compression ratio engine (12.5:1). For context, a '22 Honda Civic is ~10.8:1. Higher compression ratio means higher octane fuel is needed to prevent knocking. Don't fill this or the BRZ with regular gas if you have premium. I know gas prices aren't cheap, but in my mind, this car is so affordable you should use those savings on higher quality gas. - This is not a Toyota. It's a Subaru. The aforementioned engine is made by Subaru, and so is most of the car. Toyota co-developed the car, but it's still 90% a Subaru. - Also it's worth noting that the automatic gets noticeably better efficiency than the manual. Other than that, incredible video!

Had my GR86 since January of 22 and it's been my main form of transportation for most of that. Snow, ice, and rain. Car performs great in the rain, only bad part is how easy this thing gets dirty lol.

Lol the manual says don't use lower than 91 octane. But I mean to each there own I guess? "You must only use unleaded gasoline. The engine is designed to operate at maximum perfor- mance using unleaded gas- oline with an octane rating of 93 (98 RON) or higher. If an octane rating of 93 (98 RON) fuel is not readily available in your area, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 (95 RON) may be used with no detri- ment to engine durability or driveability. However, you may notice a slight decrease in maximum engine performance and you may hear some knock- ing (pinging) of an engine while using an octane rating of 91 (95 RON) fuel. If the octane rating is less than 91, damage to the engine may occur and may void the vehicle warranty. At minimum, the gasoline you use should meet the specifications of ASTM D4814 in the U.S.A.."

9 speed automatic? That's a 6 speed auto box. Also, don't put anything but premium in that gas thing - high compression engine needs it or it'll knock. It's a nice car, but you're clearly not a car guy.

I have the special edition 86 & one thing I will say, the type of gas you need is premium for the best performance! It’s a sports car so you gotta give it the appropriate octane levels no less than 91! Other than that great video 🙌🏼

People have been putting down 230-229hp TO THE WHEELS stock, which leads many to believe that Subaru is sandbagging the numbers a bit. This car is probably making close to 250hp stock at the crank.

That's a very conservative dyno numbers, most folks folks get anywhere from 200-21X~ anything past that is hard to believe. It's less about sandbagging and more about low powertrain loss

My 6spd GR86 gets anywhere from 220-300 depending on speed. Doing 70 on the highway gets closer to 300, 75-85 is about 260, around the town/city is around 220.

Bro not to be disrespectful, but man you could get a much more luxurious, and faster, and better sounding car with better handling then less then 30k just an older year. I got my q60 for 27k, it has 310 whp stock and tunable to 450whp with just fbo and tune, sounds really good with ams down pipes, and borla exhuast, plus the interior is really nice and comfortable for that year, and the best part is that it looks beautiful. There are so many better cars then the gr86 at a lower price point just an older year.
