Trouble is that it will be an older, well used truck by then, and most people's interest will have long moved on to newer trucks with new er features. Plus as pointed out in this thread, opinions differ on what constitutes 'reliable'. Also, realistically it is impossible for TFL to prove the reliability of the new Tacoma with this single truck. If they kept it for many years and put several hundred thousand miles on it, without any further issues, it would still only prove the reliability of that specific example. Meanwhile there would be a ton of data widely available about this models reliability by then. So to sum up, it would be terrible for their business, most people wouldn't be satisfied anyway, it wouldn't really prove anything, and the information you want would be widely available from other sources by the time they could do this. .

The dealer only fixed it under warranty because you are TFL if that was the average person we would of had to pay for it out of our pockets they would have said it was abuse for taking it off road I want to see an actual long term review on these trucks
@wilmarbarrick3194
@wilmarbarrick3194 Месяц назад
Doubtful. I'm not saying they don't get "special attention" but to deny a claim they'd have to have some decent evidence of abuse (i.e. siezed engine with a smashed oil pan... probably abused). For a hub to fail with no other damage, it would just get classified as a manufacturer defect imo. We'll see though.

My 24 was just in for three weeks the day after I bought it for a minor part that wasn’t available. I mentioned to my “Toyota advocate” that if I was TFL they would have the part by now. In the end the dealership took the part off another truck for sale so I could get back on the road. Love the truck but come on Toyota…have parts available if you’re gonna offer a product for sale.

It needs mentioned that Toyota ended the v8 full size land cruiser in the NA market because there was no appetite for a 75k 4x4 SUV, and this is exactly what they just produced a FLEET of for the new generations. 65k tacomas, 75k tundras, and 80 land cruisers. This was what everyone said wasnt palatable. Now TFL and the rest are saying this is just the market , and the market offerings. How does this not make everyones head spin?

Seems like a decent truck overall. The main issue for many is the price. Most dealers around me are listing at 56K+ for TRD Off-road or Sport. I know prices have gone up but for someone like myself who paid 36K in 2019 for my brand new at the time 4x4 TRD off-road with all the tech goodies (plus included add-ons like rockslider, and hard tonneau cover) it's tough to justify purchasing the new 2024.

I like this video. I was able to sit in a 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 yesterday, and I thought the vehicle was roomy more so than the 2024 Tundra which is mind blowing. I fit (short stocky build) much better in the Tacoma than I did in a 2024 Tundra. 2024 Tacoma seats were comfortable for the most part but the seat cushion could be more dense and more supportive especially on the side seating area bolstering, it felt mushy and should be more firm. 2024 Tacoma SR5 was nice looking overall. I personally am not sold on a turbo 4 cylinder engine and I'm not a technology fan. I'll keep my 2022 Tacoma SR5 with V6 engine I like to hear my engine purr down the road. Plus it bounced around in my subdivsion in under 30 mph zones. My bad for not catching this during the test drive. This truck is for young men who will use it offroad.

People love to knock “4 bangers” but the turbo makes all the difference. I have a 6k lb car hauler that I previously towed with a 5.7L Grand Cherokee and now tow with a 2.7L Turbo Colorado. Power wise they both do a great job but develop power a little differently, I can’t say I have a strong preference either way. The turbo does a better job holding gears when driving through rolling hills. Either option is leagues better than an NA V6 for my needs.
@plmn93
@plmn93 Месяц назад
I've had an EcoBoost for over 5 years now and I'm sold on turbos. The low end torque is just what you want in a truck, and it's pretty dang efficient too, if I drive it appropriately.

Yes. But what about longevity? Some of us less fortunate can't trade in every 5 years before things start to go. Turbo internals under load have much more stress. They are not like a big truck diesel, designed to run at full load all day with the turbo howling.
@plmn93
@plmn93 Месяц назад
@@jeanclaude7018 I can't speak for the Tacoma, but my 2.7 Ecoboost is indeed built like a diesel. Offset connecting rods, compacted graphite iron block, and water cooled manifolds. Yes turbos are another potential point of failure, but no more than direct injection, 8/9/10 speed transmissions, variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation, auto start stop, etc, etc. The days of simple drivetrains are long gone. Turbos can and do fail but they are not the ticking time bomb some people make them out to be. Most people never have an issue. And let's be real. If you can't afford a potential 2-3k repair down the road, you can't afford a 50-60k vehicle to begin with.
@jeanclaude7018
@jeanclaude7018 Месяц назад
@@plmn93 The eco seems like quite the piece of engineering. I was looking at them because they seem capable of almost the same gas mileage as my old Nissan 4 cyl but triple the power. It seems unreal. There must be some wild stuff going on in there. It seems like somethings like stop/start add a lot of complexity for small gains, and these transmissions are too much. They WILL go down at some point, and it's often $5000 or more. Why can't they at least OFFER a manual option? I mean, the 5 speed in my little truck is original 1987 with 427,000 miles. I've been using that truck 30 years, and it already had 204,000 on it when I bought it in 1995 for $2500. I want to know what happened to things that last forever at a reasonable price. I can rebuild basic engines and transmissions, but this new stuff with 10 computers is another game. The vehicle can be totalled out by a big component going bad due to labor costs. You're right, I am disabled and can't afford it. Worse, it it's like some new trucks (Tundra) and you gotta pull the cab for just a turbo change, good luck doing that in your garage. It's off to the dealer to get the shaft. I was just looking for a bigger truck to occasionally tow with. I like the ecoboost because it seems to give an actual fuel mileage reward for the complexity. But I am scared of a used one with no warranty, and I feel helpless knowing I can't work on it and would have to hand it over to a shop. Maybe I'm gonna end up with a gas hog old V8 just for occasional use. I'm frustrated.

I think a problem folks are having is the fact that it’s new and the Tacoma was by far the best in class 3 years ago, now it’s a much more even race, every mid size truck right now is leagues better than anything made before. I have a 2nd gen fronty and it feels analogue, and “ trucky “ a lot of these newer mid sized feel more accommodating and “ car like “. My problem is people crying about the truck being under powered, what are you expecting, towing capacity of a heavy duty, leg room like a full size, power of a mustang, but the size of a mid size, and price of a 2000 ford ranger, I mean c’mon you can’t have everything, mid sized trucks have never been fast, never been able to haul a huge load, and have never had alot of leg room in the back, hell I have a half cab, and my dog barely fits back there.

I wasn't surprised it broke right away. My 23 4runner had a bad front differential from new apparently. The first dealership kept saying that's just tire noise, basically " stop bringing it back ". I took it to another dealership later because it got worse, the second dealership said no no no. That is NOT normal. They swapped out the whole front differential at 14,500 because it was FULL of metal pieces. Tech told me it was the needle bearings imploding. My question is does this new truck still have this infamous part? Of course I won't even bother to look until they bring the prices back down some.
