On July 8th, Toyota issued T-SB-0058-24, Stating: "some 2024 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with a RC60F manual transmission / transaxle
may exhibit a condition where the vehicle is unable to shift into second, fourth, and/or sixth gear but is able to shift into all other gears." In this video i hope to clarify some of the questions you might have. If not, feel free to comment and ask I'll be more than happy to answer.

How do you screw up the simplest transmission there is? Easy. Add a bunch of unneeded tech crap. My 1985 five speed manual works the same today as it did in 1985.

@martin4749 the RC60F has been on the Hilux turbo-diesel pickup for 10 years with the same tech... it's fine... it's proven... this is a TSB and the problem will be fixed

You can still buy it. The best thing that can happen is for a manufacturer to acknowledge there is a problem you MAY encounter. At least you know you'll be covered. It can very well be the case you buy the manual and never experience this problem.

Toyota: we spotted a manufacturing problem (bad lot of _some_ RC60Fs) and fixed it Human-livestock: Toyota goin' down! Day dont make em like day used to! QC and production relaities elude the masses. Our new Sienna had some recalls, they take it in, fix it, its done... Problems are not the issue... a manufacturer fixing the issue is the only thing that matters. The RC60F is 10 years old and proven. This is a limited lot production issue.

Another channel gernaded a clutch while attempting a fifth to third downshift. Rev matching was part of the issue but the rev limiter should have prevented this. Another channel broke a part in the front axel while off roading in what should have been a fairly normal off roading situation. Then there's the Tundra. Still trust Toyota currently? Not me!

Looks like the quality of the Tacoma is gone downhill, but i think when they assembling the manual transmission, the shift fork assembly probably had a flaw in it somewhere over torque the bolts but it still falls back on the cameras, and robots and QC, inspectors failed to spot the problem before it happened but Toyota will fix the problem pretty quick but still kind crappy Toyota’s having problems with the manual transmission

Thank you so much for letting us know; is there any way for us or the dealer to check for this issue during maintenance? Anything to look out for while driving? I currently have under 100 miles on mine; built in April so feeling nervous. Do you know if it will fail within "X" amount of miles usually? Don't want to be left stranded or stuck with having to do a swap after my warranty has expired.

Hello, unfortunately, there is nothing to check for. It would require you remove the transmission
