VN24 - Schwerte / Germany - A 51 year old truck driver was involved in an accident on Tuesday (28.1.2020) on the motorway A45 near Schwerte-Ergste. Around 11:40 a.m. behind the Ergste exit in the direction of Dortmund, a spring of the chassis on the trailer apparently broke and a tyre detached. The truck then skidded and the trailer overturned. The load of about 20 tons of gravel poured over the entire roadway. The driver has remained uninjured. The A45 in the direction of Dortmund had to be closed since 11.50 a.m. for clearing and cleaning the accident site. The police diverted traffic away from the A45 at the Ergste exit and reopened it via the ramp towards Dortmund. The traffic jam caused by the accident was ten kilometers long. The motorway could not be opened to traffic again until around 5:45 pm.
