Theryn is probably the most level headed trans person I’ve ever listened to. Most of the time trans people are yelling about something or very offensive or defensive in some cases. And don’t get mad about my comments. I’m truly to grasp where trans people are coming from and it is not easy for a person from the southern U.S. that was raised very strictly Christian in a time where gay people were told to keep it in the closet.

rockobaracko read my comment again and try to understand. I am not trans i never was i wanted to be a boy i did not "feel" that i was a born in the wrong body, big difference. What i want to say is that peole need to uderstand that not all kids that say they want to be a different gender will become trans its a serious stuff that needs to be analyzed well before any decisions are made.

What used to be called 'tomboys'. Most girls grow out of it. The danger today can be that because a pubescent girl can really admire, even worship, another girl (and that happens often), it can be read as a lesbisn tendency. It usually just passes , and that is perfectly normal.

I think something that’s important to realize is that NOT going on puberty blockers is also a choice. I feel like this is similar to abortion. If a 14 year old becomes pregnant, she really needs to be the one to make the final decision about that pregnancy. It’s equally immoral to force an abortion on her as it is to deny her the right. It’s also sad that a 14-year-old needs to make an adult choice. Going on puberty blockers is an adult choice. Unfortunately, time and nature don’t allow for the kid to grow up before going through puberty. It’s an adult choice, yes, but also one the kid just has to make. I think what both of these choices have in common is that they have life-long effects that reach into adulthood.
@achinthmurali5207
@achinthmurali5207 3 года назад
I respectful disagree. A choice needs to be an informed choice in order to be a real choice, otherwise it’s deception. A 14 year old needs to understand the risks of carrying the baby (her likelihood of complications) vs getting an abortion as well as the moral implications it may have for her. Moreover, children need to know the risks and effects of puberty blockers before putting them on. It’s not a question of kids choice or adult choice but of informed choice.
@Quizoid

Your example may suit your need to explain the obvious regarding post issues down the road, but what about the real issue that the 14 year old girl is pregnant in the first place. Why are we discussing children and Gender Dysphoria when we should be discussing parenting or the lack there of and irrresponsible adults that fail their children over and over again by their inability to parent. I believe that gender dysphoria is a non-common convention in which a child attempts to draw more attention to themselves by acting out

Theryn, I saw the debate with you and Jordan Peterson and wanted to let you know I sincerely appreciate and respect you for being reasonable on the topic of transgender classification. There are far too many instances-like the other 3 panelists in the debate with Jordan Peterson, in which their ideas are not only radical and not rooted in any solid science, but they fail to see how Incredibly dangerous it is to their cause and society as a whole in effectively destroying freedom of speech. And the lawyer, writer and professor are too jaded by their selfish and blindly desperate need to push an agenda that caters to the relatively tiny population of transgender and ignores the masses of people that compromise the human population. To give an example would be like me demanding every person I come in contact with to thank me for being a veteran and if they don't wish to do so, I throw an absolute fit and the handful of veterans (which are a small group when compared to those who are not) and I get together, subsequently there's now law that'll punish anyone who violates my right to be thanked-how fuc☆ed up is that?! Pushing my beliefs on others in order to make someone do something against their will is just wrong. I'd rather people have the freedom to tell me where I can go stick it because if I can take your rights away, then there's nothing stopping you from doing the exact same thing to me. Nobody should have that power. I sacrificed years of my life in order for ALL OF US to express ourselves, whether I believe what you do or not isn't important...I wish more people could understand the gravity of this. By the way, I'm not in agreement with you about a kid being able to have surgery, even if it's as a last resort. I know you're reasonable and though my opinion may not change your mind, you'll at least take it in and think about it. For what it's worth, I've got a degree in psychology and a few credits shy of a master's degree but here's why I would never condone reassignment surgery for ANYONE under 18, absolutely no exception whatsoever-I'm usually not black and white to this degree, but surgery is permanent. No take backs. I know growing up is tough, and being a teenager definitely came with it's struggles. Trying to figure out who you are, where you fit in or wondering why you don't seem to, mental and emotional growing pains each one of us experiences on varying degrees and levels- unique to us. I'm a fraternal twin-same sex as me which isn't usually the case, but we were constantly compared to one another-almost everyone thought she was prettier than me and I agreed. This hurt my self-esteem tremendously and if not for deciding to swim my sophomore year, I don't know how different my life would be-but the idea I was ugly stuck with me no matter how many people told me I was pretty and I began to research plastic surgery. I was obsessed with getting rhinoplasty (nose), this consumed my thoughts to the point where I'd cry myself to sleep and made a pact with myself that if by age 21 when I graduated college, I was going to take my life if I didn't get the surgery then. That's how bad it got. One day the anxiety of feeling ugly got so overwhelming that I couldn't go outside so I sat down and began to visualize the surgery and how my life would actually be affected with a new look-i played out every possible outcome fathomable to me with my 20 something brain. It was only then that I realized even if the surgery propelled me into supermodel staus, I would be unhappy anyway because I'd be suspicious and resentful, always having to wonder if the guy thats trying to date me would have kept on walking past me before the surgery. I would despise this feeling and be even sadder and lonlier than before and this prompted me to understand that I had underlying issues I had not faced and they needed addressing. Best decision/conclusion i made, it most likely saved my life. There's alao quite a bit of research to suggest thst our brains havent fully formed until 25 years of age, that's partly why antidepressants have more potential to elicit suicidal thoughts in people 25 or younger-so though teens think it's the end of the world (and of course to them, it legitimately feels that way in the moment), it DOES get better eventually which is not to say I think they should be invalidated but there MUST BE OTHER OUTLETS TO ADDRESS THIS. I will never agree that young kids be exposed to complex issues, it's past their level of understanding/comprehending the gravity of permanence. Last thing I'll say to you is that you are a good person-that's why you think all doctors have the patient's best interest at heart. Let me assure you, they do NOT. There's bureaucracy that transcends the hippocratic oath for some and it's absolutely disgusting to think even one medical provider exists that's willing perform irreversible surgery on someone who may very well be struggling with underlying issues and the harm they could be causing that child, it doesn't mean a damn thing to them. I understand this doesn't make sense, but you're going to remember what I've written and trust me, I wish I wasn't right about this topic. I just wrote a book, my bad. I hope you're well, and glad once again to see a bright, sensible and open minded individual like yourself stepping up to let others know rational thought isn't obsolete in every transgender person. Take care.

An issue is Jazz wanted a good old penile inversion sex change. Which only works if you have a post pubescent penis. When I say post pubescent it does not mean full puberty. As her doctor said she'll be on a testosterone cream applied to the area to growit for a while before the op.

Theryn makes some valid, and important points. I think the law should forbid any chemical, or physical gender alterations until adulthood. For me it makes no sense that in societies where it's illegal to abuse your pets, and children can't legally do a great many things till 18. Yet there are people out there, that don't have any qualms with pumping a child with drugs, or for choosing life changing surgery for them. Therapy should be the only legal option for parents. The more permanent, and physically altering choices should be made by the child once they are an adult. Unless the child's life is in jeopardy, and all exceptions should be made case by case in that regard.

Children wishing to transition go through huge amounts of psychological evaluation before doctors even think about puberty blockers
@EnterPoet
@EnterPoet 4 года назад
If the child´s life is in jeopardy, that child is severely mentally ill, especially given that this subpopulation is already vulnerable and has comorbidities. If they are threatening suicide and refuse to wait until they are age of majority, you need to protect them and put them into residential psychiatric oversight or the community / family members watch them like a hawk. We do what we do whenever anyone threatens suicide, it does not have to be in this scenario. You get them help, not cave into whatever treatment option they think will fix them. They will thank you for it, but they will sue you later in adulthood if you don´t shield them from their ill selves as is already starting to happen.
@TheKiddy3

Children are fluid let them be kids and if they don’t conform to our adult stereotypes let them play and be who they are: they will usually end up gay or lesbian and some of them straight and a rare few trans.

What you are saying comes from a place of your very strong belief that gender dysphoria is not a thing. Why is it so hard to believe that the kid may feel better transitioning to the gender they claim they identity as? If you think the kid's strong desire to transition comes from something like media pressure or a "phase", such a strong desire that they can be driven to self harm concerning it, maybe cave in and believe that what they are saying they lay faith in? I refuse to believe a child can be this dramatic with simply an obsession

Look up the science behind children wishing to transition they go through extensive psychological evaluation before any puberty blockers are even considered, puberty blockers have been used since the 70s for various medical reasons outside of transitioning and are extremely safe and reversible. You do not know better than doctors in terms of medicine so research before forming your opinions. You also didn’t watch the video as she states she only supports puberty blockers when absolutely necessary
