The following exercises will improve your explosiveness, speed and enable you to jump higher! We recommend them for athletes that have an established training routine and are over the age of 14.
1. Step jump: Jump with the left foot in front of the right foot and then with the right foot in front of the left.
2. Diagonal jump: Jump with the right foot in the right lane and the left foot in the left lane
3. Twisted diagonal jump: Jump with the left foot in the right lane and the right foot in the left lane.
Coaching Points:
- Jump only on the front part of the foot
- Contact time on the ground should be as short as possible
- Try to keep the upper body in a stable vertical position
- Try to jump “into your shoulders” (i.e. raise the center of your body as high as possible)
- These drills should always be done in the first part of the training session
