@@bobjalockowitz1568 Glad it's been helpful for you! I typed this on my phone in a separate app. So I fixed all the typos and did all the formatting there. Then, I just copied and pasted from my note app to here.
Learned more about throwing baits in just three videos with you guys than 3 yrs compiled half hazard knowledge and practice in the past... absolutely amazing teaching strategy! Thanks a ton😁
Matt and Tim, I’ve been fishing for a couple of years now, and watch you channel regularly. I fish ponds in suburbia outside of DC. My confidence baits have been square bills, jerk baits, spinners and Texas rigs. For years I was frustrated with jigs, never catching anything. I have a couple of spots where I can catch large mouth regularly, but all pretty small. This year, after hearing you say that jigs tend to catch bigger fish, I committed to using them more. In the last few months, I’ve caught four on a jig, and three of the four were PBs or close to it. I’m now a jig believer and have one tied on at all times. Thanks for all the great content. Cheers!!!
Man you have no idea how much your channel has taught me over the last year about fishing. I have caught some of the biggest fish ever this year because of your knowledge. Thanks and keep it coming brotha!
I stumbled onto you channel watching a Roland Martin video about three weeks ago. I have to say, you guys give THE best info on how to fish what, where, and under what circumstances that I have run into yet. Thanks so much for bringing an older guy up to speed!
Also my first year bass fishing and Matt is my go to guy! I’ve been having a difficult time since the weather got very hot along with the water. I just set up four jigs while watching this video! Hopefully, tomorrow, they will pay off! Thanks Matt! Love your videos...
Thanks Bob! I’ve watched many videos but I gravitated to these two gentlemen. Regretfully, I forgot to mention Tim and my original comment but it’s good to hear from an experienced bass fisherman and then I’m on the right track. Thank you for your comment
Thanks Tim and Matt! You guys are the best! I appreciate all the knowledge you guys have given me over the past 3 years I have been watching your channel!
This is My favorite channel for fishing. I Can't believe how much I'm learning. Thanks so much for teaching for something i love to do that gets my mind off everything. You guys are great 🎣🙂
Great idea! I'm going to try that. I've been using the Rage Menace as its trailer since it has great but subtle action. With the Paca Craw's more aggressive action, you could probably no longer consider it a "finesse" bait. (Just joking) Next Spring, try putting the full size Paca on a structure or flipping jig. If you've never tried it, you'll be pleased with the results.
Last year I really got in to bass fishing. My first 5 lber and let me tell you I have been hooked EVER SINCE!!! I grew up fishing with live bait that first bass i caught on a jog was absolutely amazing. I'm gonna use these techniques thank you for the great info your awesome
I rarely throw a worm since i discovered finesse jigs. They're so compact, I don't have to worry about weight/worm separation, the tail doesn't wrap around stuff, you can skip, pitch, flip, or cast them, and they do tend to get a larger average fish. I love'em !
You guys are awesome I’ve watched every jig fishing and Texas rig flipping or pitching video y’all have at least 8 times each or even more for some of them. Texas rugs and jigs are my preferred ways of fishing keep them coming!
I watched your wobble head video and bought the Braillist afterward and it was worth it. I have not throw a jig on it yet because i throw a swing head a lot, and I throw Jigs on my NRX's. Thanks for all the great content!
Maybe you could do a video about rattles in jigs, worms, or crankbaits? When to use rattles and when not to, weather condition implications, water color implications, seasonal pattern effects, etc. Looking forward to your opinion.
Great stuff! I just bought my first ever non-Walmart rod and reel today. I picked up a Shimano Trevala jigging rod and a Curado 200. Just started focusing on learning more about jigs and BAM! found this video, much appreciated :)
Would have to agree with the darker color while punching through grass. Last week Friday, I went out fishing afternoon where it is very very hot. Punching through grass and under docks, I caught this massive 4lbs Bass. I was using a craw on a jig, June bug color and I caught a few good fish with it. After watching this video it just makes a lot more sense why the bass took it as I was stroking it through the grass, mentioned by you in the video, Matt.
I've been throwing a jig 90% of time I'm in the water. But I'm having an issue getting hung up in submerged grass. I've changed to different styles of jigs including gras jigs and they don't seem to come through at all. I've tried different weights as well. How do I make my casts more efficient ?
How do you guys fish heavy Lilly pads I try to punch Texas rig but always get hung up swimming under the pads on my retrieve but I am bank fishing.but would love to see a video on horsing pigs out of bayou type ponds of Lilly pads and heavy vegetation
That's great info Matt, had one of my best jig days of the summer about 3 weeks ago on local Lake. The fish were in deeper brush all the points a lot of the fish were hitting it on the fall and some of the fish would just pick it up off the bottom you won't even feel the bite you just pick up on it and it would be heavy. Fishing with the Flippin style jig.
Hey Bassin! Good morning! Thanks for uploading right before I’m about to go fishin our here in southeast Texas so now I can get some pro tips before I hit Walmart!
Something I was playing around with this weekend was throwing a 3/16oz micro jig with a #1 sized hook...then throwing on a larger chunk bait or double tail grub, super slow and methodical fall and with the right plastic can get that perfect movement. Definitely going to be a technique i try more throughout the year, thinking the winter months when the fish are sluggish and seeing that bait slow fall like that will be killer
I would like to see two types of ALL these vids, one for boats and one for shore fishermen. Specifically talking to each separate type of fishing. PLLLLLLLLEASE!!!!!!
Trim the skirts and weed guard. That's possibly the most important part of jig fishing. Maybe it's common sense but I feel like alot of guys leave that part out on RU-vid. But there's also so much incredible info on here. Maybe too much lol. I think the tactical bassin Bois do talk about the skirts and weedguard in another video. They some bad boys
I know your particular about your gear but why I've been using for the medium sized jigs is a sixgill fishing cypress 7"6 medium heavy one of my favorite go to to tie a jig on with 20lb flouro it has great back bone and can drive a hook from a full cast with ease
Love these videos. I have taken so much info and tried to apply it the best I can. I just spent a bunch of July fishing Clearlake. The first part of the month was great, caught a good amount. The last half of the month changed a the bite got tough.
Awesome awesomevideo. Really good info. Speaking of docks and shade etc., could you do a video on all the lures you can skip? Im still learning how to do this and not sure which ones skip well and which dont. Thanks!!
I know they're up there in price and Gary moved to TX so seeing them in stores might be harder for you, but you should definitely try to give the Dobyns Xtasy series a look, I think you might like it. I have a DRX 724 and while I'm not catching monsters the 3lb spots(and a 8lb flathead) load that rod to about the middle of the blank, it has a standard fast action, but there is more give before the rod completely shuts off.
First youtube comment, been watching you guys for 2 weeks took your advice and went out and set my new PB! Thanks guys great work and knowledge much appreciated👍
Great jig video TB! I try almost everything, technique wise, yall bring to us. I still haven't caught a glide bait fish after a year or so of trying! If yall could do another how to glide bait video I would love to learn more! Thanks for all yall do for us!
Hey Mat , you hit the nail on head , Class was in on this video for me ! Pick up a Bass Rider 10e , I'm getting off the bank . Thanks again stay cool !
I would like to here your opinion and review on using Googan Baits for a trailer like the Bandito bug or the kraken craw. I have discovered the trailer action on those two baits are more then the reaction innovation beavers on the fall. What do you think matt?
Those fish are crazy. Where is this filmed? My buddy and I want to hire a guide to show us how to catch a 7+ lb fish. A decent bass in New England is 2-3#. There are a few 8lb - 12 lb in our local honey hole in MA but there has only been 7 or 8 fish this size reported throughout the years. Bass don't tend to get huge up here although the record is like 16.6 lbs. It's probably more likely we just don't know how to get those humongous hog bass. Plenty of big trout and Pike in this region too...but here again...must know how to locate them and catch them. Another awesome freaking video. I was throwin those big swim baits that you taught in your incredible video of actual live bass in habitat smackin' the baits...and they were whacking it last night! It was a totally aggressive feeding frenzy like I never experienced...I put 10 in the boat with the techniques I learned here ...one after another...all fish above 3lbs...in a period of 25 minutes. Love this channel and particularly love the live bass in habitat videos. I got my fishin buddies lovin this now..just as much as me. Keep it Up!
Trank you guys from Germany! I like to fish with jigs here and your tips and tricks are very usefull to catch big riverperch (German: Flussbarsch)! Thanks
Manbearpig lol. Matt your the man. One of these days I might go up North just to have you guide me. I have Castaic and Casitas but I know your probably not coming down here for that lol.
Awesome video! I tend to forget to use my jigs during summer. Can’t let go of my chatterbaits and swimjigs.😂 Have you guys ever tried the Evergreen Combat Sticks? I’d love to hear your thoughts on their lineup.
You mentioned punching with a texas rig, have you used the slither rig by strike king? It gives the profile of a jig but is a texas rig. I live in the northeast so I'm never gunna hook into a 10+ lb bass but I have caught 7s 8s and 9s using that rig when a normal texas rig wasnt working. Just an idea for punching
You guys are so dang informative. Thanks for sharing your experience, really helping me out 👍🎣. And your underwater footage is epic, helping me get the most action out of worms and creature baits
Question. Found a new spot. It's an old stone quarry. Has a lot of wood lay downs and grass. Threw a ton of weightless senkos and caught a ton of 1.5 pounders. I know bigger bass are there. I ran into a couple 3 pounders. I'm thinking I need to go weighted to get deeper and past the smaller more aggressive fish. The banks are all mostly 45 degrees. Unknown depth. Should I throw a flipping jig to get deep, or t rig something with a bullet weight. Or any other suggestions would be great. Heading there again on Wednesday and would like to focus on quality not quantity. Thank you.
