I'm a singer-songwriter and musician and I do open mics and different shows at my school or around different cities. My girlfriend hasn't gone to a single show of mine. She's obsessed with famous boybands and artists and I don't feel the same love and support. Yeah I'm not super super good looking but I'm very talented and write songs for her but she's still so crazy about those other guys and I'm frankly jealous. I get it I love my artists too and before dating I obsessed over them but now I want some attention on my craft too. How would you alter this message for a married couple where these things are prevalent. Leaving isn't in the playbook, so how would you begin approaching these matters if you've committed to a covenant relationship? I follow Jesus, my wife acknowledges him but hasn't gone beyond knowing who he is and who he is claimed to be. I pray, I fast (though not organized fasting, more of when I feel a need) and I do what I can to set an example. The most difficult things is when it comes to spending time together, it's hard for her to understand why I don't want to be entertained by things she enjoys, especially when it comes to Films and Music. I know this isn't much to go off of, but I thought I would give just a snippet of insight into the reality of a situation like this.

Jeff it would be cool to see you do a video on Jesus’ Final Commandment. I think us believers in the western world get too caught up in the goals our culture tells us like wanting to be married, having kids, finding a good job, setting up your retirement, etc. but we lose sight of the vision God has for our lives and His will that he has laid forth before all believers. I think a video like that could really wake some people up and get this idea of God being our dating coach or job recruiter out of our heads and understand that our sole purpose is to fulfill the words we so often reiterate “THY Kingdom come, THY Will be done, on EARTH as it is in Heaven!” God Bless

Hi Jeff I really enjoyed watching this video and took the points on board. In regards to especially point number 3, I understand what point your making but in my mind I flipped it due to my circumstances. I personally struggle with purity and I've never been in a relationship, but I sometimes feel being in a healthy and serving relationship with a women could actually help put things into practice more to eventually help to break past bondage. I feel like even though I'd be exposing myself more, there's more room for growth and to actually learn from past mistakes because I wouldn't be entirely focusing on just my wants and needs, to be disciplined more. I don't agree that you should leave them for these reasons. I agree that if the behaviors don't change, and they aren't working toward a better personal space then maybe. But just to leave a person you love because they haven't made it as far as you yet is cruel to me. You're a partnership. Help your partner to come closer to the Lord. Don't abandon them. I was (am) guilty of all these. My husband is a Christian and always has been, but I came into our relationship a Wiccan. He loved me and taught me and supported me until I started to find my way. 2 years later, I'm doing much better with these issues and I've been a Christian for 15 days. None of this would have happened if he'd just left like this says he should have.
