I have been practicing yoga nidra almost daily for a couple years now. I was given a cancer diagnosis last fall and truly believe that my practice can be credited with maintaining an unexpected level of equanimity when faced with such a big life challenge. @@annier1873 I just finished up five months of chemo a couple weeks ago. I was fortunate to have not experienced any nausea the whole time and my side effects weren’t fun but they were manageable. I get a month off now before surgery, and once I am recovered from that I have six weeks of daily radiation. This is a long road to travel but having yoga nidra in my toolbox has made it easier. Thanks again to Ally and guides who have helped me on my journey.

@@deniselivingston703 Hi, Denise-No, NOT just you. There are many yoga nidra recordings that I can’t listen to at all. I do fine with surf, silence, and slow tidal ambient music, but the ones with intermittent chimes or birdcalls or strong rhythms are a no-go zone.

I love your Voice Only videos! And cross-body focusing (e.g. focus on the right sight of the body at the same time as left side of the brain) is THE most relaxing aspect of your body scan videos. It would be great if you could do more body scans with cross-body focus. thank you!

I practice yoga nidra regularly. I broke my right foot two months ago and have been recovering from it since, both physically and mentally. Since yesterday, the upper right side of my body has been in immense pain and tension. I can’t move my neck as much and my physiotherapist taped the side right side of my neck, shoulder, shoulder blade and upper back. During today’s practice, something really interesting happened: I was hyper aware of my body and noticed that the entire left side of my body was extremely sensitive. With each breath, my skin became more sensitive and cooler. By the end of the practice, my left hand was cold while the right was warm. During the “circular” breathing between the arms and the heart center, doing it from right to left helped to ease the sensitivity while doing it from left to right increased it. This has never happened during a practice before and I thought it was interesting to share and to explore with the beautiful community around here. Ally, thank you for these videos, they have been a huge part of my recovery in every sense of the word.

Before, I considered myself to be a "non-Yoga-person" :D but I've been practising Yoga Nidra through your videos for almost a year now, and I am so happy I gave it a chance. It makes such a difference for me. When coming home from work, stressful, fatigued and in pain I practice Yoga Nidra and it feels like I've had at least two hours of extra sleep! I feel so energized! Ally could you do a 30 min video that is all just rotation of consciousness throughout body parts? Where the speed of rotation is approximately 3 seconds per body part? That is the part of yoga nidra I find the most relaxing and calming.

Hey, Ally, this is a really good one for me, amongst your other incredible recordings. During the circular breathing I fell into non-sleep state where I wasn’t hearing your voice anymore, I suppose this is what a non-sleep deep rest is. Then upon your final words I woke up. I was feeling tired and non-motivated this morning, and after the meditation my energy was completely changed! Thank you 🙏 so much! I've been sick all day, achy, unable to sleep or focus for silent meditation. I emerge from this video feeling noticably less prickly and able to relax 😊 Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of doing two sips of air instead of one? Thank you Ally!

Thanks, Ally. It was really noticeable as the breathing through each hand through the heart started to speed up a bit, it gave the effect of a feeling of raising energy. Would it ever be beneficial to breathe in a way that is similar to laughter during a state of deep rest? Yoga nidra was always covered at the end of laughter yoga classes. Could the two be mixed at the same?

Ally, I have been using your recordings for almost a year now, several times a week, and I have found them really helpful in trying to recover from severe burnout. I’m wearing an Oura ring that monitors and gives me feed back about my physiological state and stress level. Earlier, whenever I did my yoga Nidra, the ring would register this as time spent in a relaxed or recovering state, and sometimes even suggest that I had been taking a nap. Recently though I have experienced that my body’s physiological stress level (according to my Oura ring) increases during my practice of Yoga Nidra. Can this be due to me doing it wrong, or can it be a sign that YN is not working as well for me as it did earlier? 😊

Every time I start doing it, I suddenly remember everything there is to worry about in the world, everything I really must do Right Now, and then I get frustrated with myself because I just can't shut them up and the whole thing goes tits up ... any advice? Pit of the throat is the area of the throat that connects to the top of your chest and sinks in a little (like a pit). Up a little higher in the middle of your neck (you can feel air going through and also vocal cords) is the middle of the throat. A little higher where throat opens up into mouth, towards the very back of your open mouth is the root of the tongue.

Hi Ally, thank you for providing us with this life changing experience 💕 I have noticed in the few months of practice that I have difficulty doing my yoga nidra in the early mornings, like 4 or 5 am. I become restless and feel the urge to move and stop the exercise. On the other hand, I do fine in the afternoon. Should I insist in trying to practice in the morning, or should I stick to afternoons? What do you suggest?

If I was you and you find practicing in the afternoon more restful time for you,then I would stick to the afternoon nindra's,as long as you're getting the benefits it doesn't matter what time of day you practice, have a lovely day.

From the perspective of someone who has moved away from city life, starting off this meditation by talking about “the pace of society” was not a great start for me FYI :) the name of this video is yoga nidra meditation not a podcast 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you Ally, I really enjoy each practice. Most of the times I fall asleep during the practice but still feel very relaxed afterwards. Does it still work as well as being awake all time? Thank you for answering.
