This is a quick video on how I fixed my stuck resin vat screws. My next video was supposed to outline my experience with the Wham Bam Flex Plate, but this got in the way. Hope this helps!

What do you think people overlook when it comes to resin printing?

Thanks for this. Had a stuck screw today on my S3U, but I'm sure that it's not resin. I managed to remove the screw with pliers, spritzed with IPA (thanks to you), screwed in as far as I could, backed off, tightened again, removed, wiped the screw, more IPA, and did this repeatedly. Maybe 40, 50 times, I lost count, but I've got sore fingers. Repeated tightening and loosening a few times on each iteration seemed to work well after some time. I didn't disassemble the machine. Anyway, after a while more and more black gunk was getting in the threads, and the screw was getting easier. I've only used clear resin, and only printed a few times. Maybe it's factory grease that has hardened (I do use a brew belt) or some other contaminant, but I've been super clean and can be pretty confident it's not resin, especially as the blockage was far down. I've only removed the screws a few times so far as I've not changed resin and don't routinely need to move the vat, but I'm thinking it prudent to at least loosen screws after a print, perhaps removing and cleaning each time just to keep the threads as pristine as possible. I sprayed them with PTFE spray when clean. I cleaned the screw that wasn't stuck, and that seemed to be getting tighter, so I did a more thorough clean as for the stuck screw, and with that more black stuff came out. So I don't think we should be hard on ourselves if this happens, as it seems more like a product defect.

It's definitely not us, it's just the nature of the product. Unfortunately, we are not equipped with that information when we buy the printer. I still believe it is resin personally. It seems like in my Saturn, despite also being very clean, certain resins just seems to splash more from the drips. I've been dealing with a buildup of resin on my hood over time from this, and sometimes the hoods gets a little tacky and sticks to the machine. I think it's just resin that catches dust and other debris and hardens over time. There could also be some grease! Thanks for you comment, and let us know how the PTFE spray helps!

After an hour of frustration, I cleaned out the screw hole by gently hand-turning an M4 tap in and out of the hole until it was clean. It only took me a few minutes.

I appreciate the time and effort you took to make and share this, but please consider reducing the volume of your background music if you're going to use any at all. It's difficult to hear you over it.

Hey, this is an issue I've still struggled to balance. But, slowly but surely, it is being addressed. Thanks for your support!

Here's a tip. Place a vertical slot into the screws. Should be angled ~45 degrees or so. This will turn them in to sudo self tapping screws.

I just looked up a video on making self-tapping screws. You think it help remove the resin build up as it goes? I don't think it's a replacement for cleaning the holes once in a while but I think it would extend the time between cleanings! Let me know if you do this yourself!!

I'm so sorry! Either you can go the Elegoo customer service route or you can get one of those drill bits that allows you to drive the screw out? I'd personally just buy a new part from customer service. I don't remember it being an expensive quote! Best of luck!

Where did you get replacement tape for the lcd screen?
@SpencersDesk
@SpencersDesk 6 месяцев назад
I had some “electrical tape” sitting around. It’s definitely not the same but it’s similar. The original stuff seemed a lot grippier whereas electrical tape isn’t so grippy. It seems to be working fine though!

I’m so sorry to hear that. I would reach out to ELEGOO and tell them you want the red panel replaced. If out of warranty, just tell them you want to buy it right away to save some hassle. Or, you could try to drill it out and retap the hole. I’m hoping this video can reach more people to prevent it from getting to this point :( best of luck!

@@SpencersDesk also it's best to avoid drumming parts with spoken word and use something more ambient, more in the background as not to distract from the speech.

That makes sense! I'll try that out in the next one I put together. Right now, I just place an entire track in the video. Maybe I should be using multiple songs and just taking shorter segments.

@@SpencersDesk I worked as a composer for couple of films, and it can be quite tricky to make music that has certain flavor and character and yet not to take attention away from the main scene. The director usually wants the music to be the support and not carry the scene, so if you begin to notice it, then it can be problematic, depending on the genre and director of course.

I see. So if I'm watching a video back and I start to notice music... It's either too invasive or the content is getting boring. Super helpful tip!
