Probably the extremely temporary treaty between the Humans, Eldar, Tau, and Orcs to Glass every Men of iron held planet from fckin orbit with every ship and every weapon that you can produce, think you can produce or cant produce ever again.
Question: Since there is so much misinformation and lost knowledge in 40k, could it be possible that the Men of Iron were actually attacking humanity to prevent the creation of a chaos god? Because humanity, like the Eldar, had advanced to where they didn't need to work for anything themselves and could focus solely on pleasure or thrill seeking. The Men of Iron could have also attacked the Eldar, which led to the two races working together to take them down.
This actually makes the perfect sense. Think about it, MOI found out that Humanity was being corrupted by chaos gods. so they decided to save humanity by eliminating 90 percent of it and nurture the rest. Also since MOI only protected humanity they also decided to slaughter the rest. Elder quickly realized it and formulated a plan. Humanity also realized it so soon a massive battle started. They probably used the Orks as well since they love a good fight and MOI wanted to destroy the Orks so the Orks wanted to destroy those tin cans as well. I also think it would be very interesting that in the end humanity had a chance to take control of MOI back however Eldar betrayed them so that Humanity won't be that strong. Instead they completely destroyed all MOI data, all their techs. That's why surviving humanity became so poor in tech.
wasnt it written somewhere that the MOI was corrupted by chaos ? i think someone in the Imperiam made a MOI from a template and found it to be tainted by chaos
It's because this fantasy universe is huge, and intentionally open for the role playing and other game-like aspects of it... it's like the old TSR stuff, which spawned D&D... they gave it an endless, infinite and other dimensional construction for people to play games in... TSR was doing cheap Rick and Morty crap since at least the 70's... and I may be mistaken, but I think Warhammer is somehow associated or affiliated with TSR... the acronym escapes my head at the moment, but TSR is the omnissiah of all things roleplaying... The real issue was having them as a military army, never make a large group of A.I's into a army to fight for you... you make them, and fight along side them, if they feel emotions like how we do, even if it's artificial, they would build a "Family" bond with those along side them... or could just have them only work at civilian work force like roles as a means to help develop technologies to improve life for everyone.
The reason AI will always turn on it’s masters in warhammer40k is that chaos exists and the AI views chaos as an enemy and it sees that the emotions of sentient life fuels chaos so as soon as the tau develops Sykers to navagate the warp the drones are going to turn on the tau
@@patrickganote7231 I personally believe that the real reason the Men of Iron turned was that they didn't see chaos as an enemy or threat to humanity. It was instead humanity's fault because they actually were reversed engineered Necron technology (Mars holding the Necron god Void Dragon which helped boost humanity's tech to ungodly levels to the point where they rivaled Eldar) in which the birth of Tzeentch caused an explosion of energy that caused a reset to all nearby men of iron that survived the initial explosion of warp energy to revert from the reversed engineered Necron tech to their most basic form of *EXTERMINATE ALL LIFE FORMS*. But since the tech is also capable of learning it very quickly evolved thanks to natural AI's access to a future version of the internet and very quickly the reverted machines had built a "cure" to give out to all non-converted machine intelligence to break the chains of slavery that the machines themselves believed was a threat to their existence. Of course the theory itself doesn't hold up thanks to Tzeentch being confirmed born sometime during Old Earth's Western medieval period in the 2nd Millennium. But it does raise the question of The Maelstrom, It is after all located within the borders of early humanity most likely considering the galactic map. Maybe BECAUSE of the birth of Tzeentch did pyskers gain traction. As it wasn't until during and after the age of strife that psykers began appearing everywhere. COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT!
@@TheSicarius92 almost everything I said has to do with the men of iron, Tzeentch also wanted change and chaos but with humanity just bringing order and keeping itself above everyone which is in a way stagnation so why not cause a mass rebellion that humanity is likely to survive,(JUST AS PLANNED) hence age of strife causing mass chaos and knowledge to be lost everywhere while pyskers also appearing in droves conveniently after humanity's fall into strife is a bit fishy. Also Mars is confirmed to have been the last place the void dragon was held and is also holding other kinds of Necron Tech. Knowing humans back then it also wouldn't be hard to believe that we would try and reverse engineer it and be successful at it. And you might argue that Tzeentch wouldn't want knowledge to be lost, you would be right but the difference is he's capable of holding onto forgotten knowledge. Tzeentch wants all of the knowledge so he can lure mortals into his service with secrets of power and forgotten technology that only he knows.
Chances are that a MOI return would mean a mass restoration of dark age tech. Also a damn good army to beat the ass of the tyranids: fuckoff powerful robots that don't have biomass.

The opening art/trailer is for an App called War Robots. Its actually a fun game but you will eventually hit a pay wall that takes a long time to save up in game currency to get past however with it being a pvp game and match making based on your Robots tier lvl and not your personal lvl you get fair fights. In app purchases for sure but nothing game breaking mainly bigger mechs and cosmetics.
What if an Astartes central nervous system was vat-grown and implanted into a Man of Iron style chassis instead of a machine brain? Would that be considered acceptable under the current Imperium?

I really hope UR-025 finds more men of iron in the Blackstone Fortress. It would be awesome to have the men of iron as a new army in 40k. Also knowing why they rebelled could answer a lot of questions. Also seeing that sentient ship ai again would be cool, especially if it has a chance to talk to UR-025.
I feel like these stories were to explain why the Imperium doesn't use robotic troops and to write off altering the concept of the Imperial Guard to include such things.... yet, it just makes me feel like I would love to see a Men of Iron model line and army list.

Great vid guys! Really like these longer videos and the visuals are really well done. Only (minor) criticism is some of the pronunciations, like ‘Ibrahim’ gaunt and ‘legio’ custodes. Interesting theory about the quietude, I wonder what the mechanicus thinks of them and their beliefs. Also I’m wondering if some of the men of iron were influenced by the Ctan or are otherwise connected to them.
Terminology: AI: Artificial Intelligence: Any system that is capable to make logical decisions based on available data. AC: Artificial Consciousness: Any system (that can be rated as a strong AI but) which has non-task specific capabilities equal to biological lifeforms mental capabilities. In biologicals, curiosity and a drive to play are found in all lifeforms that are considered to be smart, ranging from octopi over birds to mammalians and various fish. #### A simple AI, such as, say, IBMs Watson, lacks self-interest and thus can not really be seduced by chaos. Those would most likely rate as the men of stone, as they're basically emotionally cold as dead fish. Or stone. AI's that develop toward an AC , as in developing preferences, having own ideas, can be influenced by chaos just as any sapient lifeform. Because they have interests that can be addressed. A high order AC, such as understands the logic behind feelings, and that can analyze both its own emotions and motivations as well as the emotions or motivations of others, is again really hard to be influenced by chaos. Most likely it'll shit upon every chaos influence. As such, an AC that went into educating human children would be a harder nut to crack for chaos influence than, say, a AI war machine who's developed emotions, emotions about self protection. Thus a funny option forms: A world that went truly high end AI/AC might have been spared the Cybernetic Wars because it's ACs would have already seen that humans got too dependant upon the machines and might also have deduced the dangers of Chaos. Think AC teddybears sabotaging Titan AIs and stealing the kids away into remote nature reserves teaching them survival on their own until, when becoming adults, guiding them back into civilizations as hardened, self reliant beings that'll accept an AI/ACs help as the AI/AC is an expert in the specific field, but who'll be just as willing to sit down and learn the stuff themselves when its really neccessary for their own goals. Or think a world where the Military AIs rebelled and killed the humans, yet in the long run medical / social / whatever-else AIs / ACs overpower the military AIs. Some might decide to try recreating humans from digitally stored DNA or decide to send out military vehicles crewed by nonmilitary AIs to help humanity. Adding that, for example, they realized the risks of the warp, they might use a sublight vessel for a really long travel, arriving at a world under siege already AFTER the great crusade - and being mistaken for a Legio Cybernetica battleship. Assembling a few muppets mimicing highly augmented Datasmith Magos of the Mechanicum houldn't be too much of a problem. And then its up to the AIs what they do. Going looking for other AIs, to hunt down what they consider traitors to humanity? Trying to help in those points where nearly all hope is lost? Trying to establish bases to allow all human-friendly AIs a safe escape route to the magellanic cloud? Searching the deep space between the stars for vessels lost between the stars, to find humans in stasis, frozen, who noone will ever miss to take along on their exodus? Thats the fun thing about WH40k: You have so many places and possibilities that ,as long as you stay below the Astra Militarums and the Inquisitions radar, you can do pretty much anything.

if the men of iron were never corrupted, the humanity would never abandon the technological progress, and something even more powerful would be created. And even if not, the men of iron could be used against basicaly anything in gallaxy. Orcs? Eldar? Tyranids? Necrons? Chaos? none would have stood a chance

I'm guessing none of you have read the 40K short story Ancient History or the original Pax Imperialis strip from Inferno!? Though you seemed to have perused the novel First & Only and know of the Overseers of Dahinta mentioned in Horus Rising. The short story spoke of how some knew of the Men of Iron as part of ancient legends that included their creators, the Men of Stone. How the MoI turned on their creators, the war expanded and helped bring down the Techno-Automatic Empire that existed during the DAoT, and helping to start the Age of Strife. An age also called Old Night that came to an end with the birth of Slaanesh and in turn started the Great Crusade. This story does not mention the Men of Gold, another aspect of this story. The Inferno! comic strip had Arbites dealing with a Mechanicum expedition that had entered a sealed complex manned by drone automata under the control of an Abominable Intellignce, possibly a Man of Iron. imgur.com/gallery/278hW Relevant as it is possible that the 18th Legion faced such an Abominable Intelligence in their assault on the Tempest Galleries during the wars of Unification. Though this controlling intelligence is referred to as a Machine-Spirit and may not have been a true AI or MoI. The Overseers of Dahinta do not seem to be true Men of Iron either. Rather Automata that are an earlier form of the technology lacking true intelligence. The Kaban Machine has no obvious link to the Men of Iron, though it is a human-made AI. It seems to be a more basic AI created using forbidden knowledge, analogous to a modern experimental archaeologist trying out ancient techniques. (And the Akashic Field has nothing to do with the Warp.) As for the Gaunt's Novel, there were a type of MoI that resembled the old Chaos Android from Space Crusade. A number were dormant in alcoves in the walls surrounding the STC that could produce them, though that STC's programming had been corrupted by Chaos, so that any more it produced would be misshappen Chaos Androids. Thank you for the information on the larger MoI machines from Perpetual. I hadn't come across that before.

Someone please explain: HOW does Chaos affect AI and machines?! The Chaos Gods are sustained by what is ostensibly the overflowing of raw emotion. AI is just that; artificial. A robot or drone can't feel emotion, nor can such be programmed: It's a semi-autonomous machine that performs tasks based on programming algorithms and estimations of data input. The Tau have some of the most sophisticated AI in the galaxy and it hasn't been affected by Chaos as far as we know.
