This Yoga Nidra is meant to sooth your nervous system and allow you to connect to the element of water. You can find more free full length yoga nidras here: freeyoganidra.ca
In this 40 Minute Yoga Nidra, Ally Boothroyd will guide you through a relaxation and visualization for the element of water (jala), the yin energy of chandra (the moon). This is helpful for pitta dosa, and soothe pitta elevation (fire/water element elevation). A gentle ocean wave visualization will calm, ground and balance pitta, sooth fire, anger, irritation nourish the prana maya kosha (energetic body) and invigorate svadisthana chakra.
Yoga Nidra is a form of meditation that helps with insomnia, anxiety, stress, adrenal fatigue, ptsd and so much more. This scan takes you through the whole body, systematically relaxing every part of your being.
Yoga Nidra translates as psychic sleep and is a systematic method of inducing physical, mental and emotional relaxation, while maintaining awareness at deeper levels.
Close your eyes and allow yourself to be guided into deep relaxation.
Scientific research has demonstrated that restorative power of just one hour of Yoga Nidra is equal to 4 hours of healthy sleep. Tension and anxiety melt away with a profound experience of muscular, mental and emotional relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a state of receptivity and creativity, blissfully rejuvenating and restorative practice that will guide you into inner calm and a state of ease and relaxation.

As above. I'm come back to this after a break, and this in.particulars so healing after loss of a friend. It helps to put into context that she too isn't lost, but lives on in my heart and has changed form into a higher state of being❤😅 any chance you can edit the end. It cuts out suddenly moving into an add, very abrasive after the beautiful healing space you took us into.

I have been trying to make a conscious connection with water every day at the moment so this was perfect. I was completely drained and exhausted going into this practice and I definitely drifted in and out of awareness. It just always feels like such a gift to practice with you. Love ceilidh 13.30 💜

Thank you Ally for this practice once again! I loved the pranamaya exploration and the water-like quality of consciousness appearing. Second time now I have a very powerful energy coming into the CNS, feeling of vibration and buzz in the brain (towards the end of the practice, just before visualizing the breath from the soles of the feet up and then back down). I’m not too aure what it is, it’s not uncomfortable but somehow kind of a super-activation of the nervous system. The mind after is very well focused and sharp (after coming out of the nidra). Definitely wil be exploring more. The teacher training and these nidras brought whole new experiences into my practice, thank you for the wisdom and your guidance. Namaste, Veronika

I started my day with a yoga nidra (straight out of bed), and am ending my day with the practice (having just done a short dirga breath practice to unwind after a stressful day at work). Felt like I was being carried by the ocean in this one 🌊 Thank you!

Namaste Ally. This was so BEAUTIFUL! I’ve always feel really connected to the water element and this practice was just perfect. And it’s the very first time that I’ve managed to stay conscious throughout the whole practice whilst feeling my body in such a deep deep relaxation! Totally mind awake body asleep. Namaste Ally 18/06. 18.20. WOW... Stonking water element practice. I loved everything about it... The whooshy wave sounds were perfect, I was floating totally supported on the sea surface. 40 minutes of observing the rhythms of the body and breath, with no effort to do anything, were so soporific. I drifted between relaxation, hypnogogic sleep and ?REM sleep but always aware of your voice. Occasionally I observed myself from about a foot above my body, to the right of my head, above, not an OBE but a gentle elevation of my attention. I feel so relaxed and cleansed now💕💕💕

Wow. Thank you so very much. That was one of the most awesome deeeep drop ins yet in my Yoga Nidra experiences. Thank you Ally- as part of the yntt I could understand so much more now- and really got the layering this time and yet I dropped into the awareness and rest so Profoundly I could only let go as my mind, body,& spirit rested so Peacefully. And please know the ocean sounds were 100% right on- it’s the water for me. 🌊🙏🏽♥️ Thank you for this third module experience. Especially great bc it’s length of 40 min. Delicious. Namaste.

Ohhhh this nidra spoke directly to the salt water that runs through my veins! haha I am noticing more sensations my last few practices and today saw teal and ocean blues and felt almost as if I was floating in the ocean--Namaste Ally !

Thank you ✨✨✨ I am in module 3 and found that it took longer for me to settle in this beautiful Yoga Nidra as I was more analyzing … once I dove deep into this session, I felt like I experienced a gentle energetic treatment, resembling reiki. This was powerful & gentle, I feel purified and rejuvenated. I loved the mantra at the end, one of my favorites!!! Gratitude to you 🙏

Oh, forgot to say how I feel. I feel very rested and very grateful for that rest. I don’t know what will break me of this insomnia. It’s an addiction to being awake during the quiet hours. It’s the utter solitude. And probably some caffeine.

1245 practice- very cleansing and calming. My mind was wandering at times as still after effects of yday chemo but time passed v quickly so I think i found lower brain frequency states too. Will do this one again.

This was so nourishing. The anchor you provided was something I needed and really returned to throughout the practice. I was feeling some anxious feelings arise in my chest and the anchor drew me back to the present moment and to my heart. Thank you. Also the polarized breathing felt so caring.

Namaste Ally. I practiced in the morning as I mostly do but this time was asleep most of the time. Might be because of time changing to summer time (feeling kind of jetlagged and tired) or because of the longer stillness in between words but I’ll definitely try it once during the day or in the evening. To see if it’s different. Thank you!

1245am before bed. I did not get very deep in the states of consciousness with this one as I feel like there was a lot already stirred in the system and on the surface. There was a lot of emotion for me and I popped out of it early with some panic. I was able to relax the body and was drifting off but something triggered and I popped out. I think for me water is very womb like and I am moving through some birth/adoption/mother stuff right now so wasn't able to fully relax into this as I would have liked. Still amazing though. Water is my most favourite element.

The combination of the oceanic white noise and the soothing whispering is so relaxing, I practised yesterday and today afternoon after a very early start, and both times went into deep unconscious in the early stages, came back as it ended and then let my phone flow through the next yoga nidra on my playlist by you Ally, drifting in and out of dreams feeling very happy and got up and felt totally replenished. So this is perfect for easing into sleep, thank you as ever ❤
