When you are reviewing a car, is the owner always in the passenger seat?

For anybody who is curious about the main differences between the spec b and regular legacy gt, 2006 spec b's came with red leather interior, navigation, bilstein shruts, but the same 5 speed in the gt, 07-09 spec b's had a modified version of the STI 6 speed with longer gearing and a open front diff rather than lsd front diff like the sti has and bilstein struts as well...

Someone needs to bring this man a nicely modded s60R. I know you guys are out there on the East Coast...

i want one of these. but id get a front mount intercooler and get a simple hood without the hood scoop. idk. im all about total sleepers. no ones going to suspect a legacy if it looks like a camry.

I love my Spec B, 6 speed, r180 rear diff, heated leather, Navi, low 13's with an exhaust, aftermarket TMIC, and good tune, 12's if you "upgrade" from the Legacy's VF46 to the WRX VF52 turbo and 650cc injectors. it's kind of like a low budget 335xi.

You need to review a modded gen 1 legacy turbo! Now THATS a different ride!

The main difference you're feeling in the way the car puts power down isn't the 6MT, it's the R180. When you were talking about "crabwalking" around 5:00 ... that's the difference between the VLSD in the WRX's R160, and the TorSen mechanical LSD in the STi and the spec B's R180.

Everyone's view on the legacy "it's liberty here in Australia" is that it's a grandpa car... And I'm a massive car guy and I never ever thought I would own a liberty/legacy I had no idea what they even had under the hood what they could do I had absolutely no idea until the day I was looking for a cheap daily and I come across a nice black stock spec b with only 85.000km which is 45 or 46.000 miles super low for a 2009 car in 2020 so I took it for a test drive and when I sat in it I was blown away at the actual effort subaru put into it to be a really all round great car like the features one this car standard is like no other for eg 14 speaker macintosh sound system headlight washers sunroof leather heated seats electric front seats left and right sat nav 6stacker cd touch screen in 2008/2009 bilstein suspension xenon headlights and telescopic and up and down steering wheel so thats what makes you comfortable inside now what makes the car a awsome daily all the above bolted to a 2.5l turbo with heaps of aftermarket options and a 6 speed manual riding on 18s is that not a car enthusiasts dream daily car ???? I bloody couldn't believe it when I found this car and im asking my self how I dont know about this wtf and when people ask me what im dailying I say liberty and they often say ohhh nice quiet comfortable old grandma car 😄 so I thought too mate until I take you for a drive dickhead and you'll go straight out to buy one

So many people complaining about the legacy reviews. They forget that David can only review cars that people are offering to let him drive. If you'd like content, he needs to have cars to review.

David is a Subaru guy at heart. It's just so obvious. Get a subie David...We know you want too....

VW and Ford sold from 1995-2010 (Ford 2006) a family van with a 2.8l VR6 which only gets like 13-14mpg, fun fact, the exact same car was available with the 1.9TDI which almost gets 47mpg.

the legacy is one of the most underrated cars here in Germany ... i want to buy one if a i get enough Money fot it :)

Awesome review man. Just thought I's share some international info for you. Here in Australia it's known as a liberty instead of legacy. Also we have different engine combos. We get the 2.5 N/A in the base spec, 2.5 turbo in the middle spec and our spec B gets a 3L flat 6 (EZ30) combined with the sti 6 speed. I personally love the 3L as they are very quick N/A and respond well to the raptor supercharger kits. Personally I would take a liberty over a wrx any day but that's just preference, though I would have the pre facelift generation 4 which had slightly larger taillights and minor bumper differences.

Not sure what you're talking about when you say that you can get a Legacy GT for cheaper than a WRX. At least in my area, an 04-07 WRX and an 05-09 Legacy GT will cost $10,000-$12,000 if they are in good shape.

Well that 6 speed has subarus dccd so traction will not be an issue, all that power to the ground so it should feel quicker even if it had the same hp as the previous legacy.

I just realized, i think David has the same wheels on his 240, as the Unicorn Stagea on MCM.

15 mpg is because it's being driven in S or S#. I get 26mpg in mine, primarily in I, but I use the Sport Modes sparingly.

Spec.B's are righteous, no doubt. I've got a 2010 5th gen Legacy GT and love it. They are very rare, only about 2500 total 2010-2012. More power than the 4th gens. Stock suspension needs some work though. Once I get mine all built you'll have to take it for a spin. I live in NOVA too!

There is a reason for the substandard gas mileage; the car encourages you to go full throttle, all the time. It really comes alive when you do. It is hard to deny yourself that experience.

Great video! you are making me want one again! I am torn between 03-04 STi or a Spec B.... and as far as mpg... my thought is that it is due to a small displacement making as much power as a V8 so it needs more air and therefor more fuel. That is why it has worse mpg than say an SRT8. (I believe that to be true, not certain though).

That's not a bov that u see thru the scoop. It's the external wastegate. Hence the extra loud sound every time he got on the throttle.
