Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Could you use a heavy duty tarp for the larger stones to go on then pull them out with the tractor, a bit like a big bag shape. Was wondering if the fire has done that kind of damage to the centre pillar stones will the walls also be damaged and crumbling? Great to see the transformation. Sending healing vibes to Bee. Xx

What a difference that has made. I'm thinking the same as some others, and as you said yourself, you are not sure at this stage if these stone walls are safe enough to build on. You'll find out soon and whichever way this goes I know you will just get on with it like you do with everything. I’m thinking some of those tools were very early farm implements. Harrowing rakes for the field as well as the rake might be for hay or straw? very inexperienced guesses. Theo you are my hero. What a day's work! I love the shot of the inside after youve cleaned out the large pieces of metal and such. The bottom of the second pillar you toppled over looks like a face. Lol. You can actually see it in the thumbnail of this video. Best of luck on the journey, and thanks for the update of how the process will be. Hopefully the fire didnt ruin the builing too much; it is a pretty cool place. Hopefully Bee is doing well and recovering. Tell her hi for us!

The inner walls look burned and unsafe as the pillars. It won't be able to support the weight of an upper floor and roof. Reconsider remodeling that building. Sorry Theo. It's just an observation. I love your videos. Speedy recovery for Bea.

Be careful Theo. I pray you stay safe, it's hard to work alone while performing dangerous tasks. Sweet Peas is a good supervisor, but being a climber is in its nature, not yours. Hi Theo , just make wooden sled . The front of the 2 runners should be well rounded . Then you can pile stuff on it and pull it out with the tractor . Once it’s outside you lift the front of the sled with the tractor and the stuff will slide off . Be careful working alone , take your time don’t get in rush where you make a mistake and get hurt . Take care and good luck . Wish I was back in Europe , I am 100% sure I could get that Crain going .

Yes. I've had problems with my back since the 1980's and understand exactly what those 'twinges' are and have also used the same term. IMO, it is the tearing of the membrane that surrounds the vertebrae, just before a full herniated rupture occurs if one carries on what they're doing. The 'twinges' are not painful, but clear messages to immediately give it a rest or you'll seriously regret ignoring it. Now, whenever the lower back starts seriously hurting. I give it a full 3 days to heal, before doing anything.

You can use a piece of the tin/metal roof sheets to make a sled to pull out the heavy pieces with the tractor.

Wow, it is amazing how it looks when the rubbish is removed. I was wondering about the door hinges sticking out of the wall. Be careful that you don't catch a shin on one of those things because they are a hazard and could cause severe injury. I enjoy watching each video but continue to stay safe and healthy.
