At 75 years old lost 80 lbs over the past two years. Now weigh what i did when I finished basic training in the AF at 18 years old. Lots of stamina. Power walk 5k every day. I am in final rewrite on my dystopian novel. Also, attending college (already have a Masters) and learning photography and videography. Will be starting a new business this month. Thank you Keto.
Thomas Wharton Excellent, sir! I am 62, and you have greatly encouraged me. I've been keto since this past May, lost 50 lbs so far. We are starting several new businesses, and growing our small farm. There's plenty of life in us!
60 years old, and have been ketogenic for nearly 3 years. I have reversed my fatty liver, my acid reflux, my gallbladder attacks, my inflammation in my knees and feet, swelling/water retention, and most of all no asthma. My family tells me that I act and behave younger than I did in my 30s, 40s, and 50s. This is a way of life, and I’m truly living life now.
Found a similar benefit....5 days after eliminating refined carbs/vegetable oils and going keto/OMAD....no longer require asthma medication after using it for 30yrs. Even found improvement in eyesight
Interesting....my knee stiffness just declined dramatically over last 3 weeks of doing beginner grade keto. Don't know if there is clear cause and effect....but there might be some correlation. Just lost 5-6 pounds (have been trying the exercise route which failed over 3 year period)
It's now been over three years and I have maintained my weight and continue to be in ketosis. One thing that has helped me through it all was that I never considered keto a diet plan. For me, it is a lifestyle change. No cheat days - no going back, because there is no back.
I’m 54, and coming up on a year of Keto (Nov). At about the 7 month mark, something shifted in my body and I started feeling so good! I think that there was a lot of internal healing going on before that (fatty liver, insulin resistance). My hubby is mostly Keto now, and our friends have said that we both look like we are getting younger 😂😂 My mom and my sister are now on board, another sister has been Keto for about a year and a half 😊 This is for life, so we have to think long term, not quick fix 😊 ~~Keto since Nov 2017, down 60 lbs (my actual total is 77 down from my highest weight) with about 45 more to go 👍😉 I thank God for leading me to the info about Keto last year!
I am 52 and down 60 lbs in 9 months of strict keto. Have not felt this good since I was < 30. I get the same comments from friends and co workers. "You look like you are getting younger" No joke.
It's great to hear! I just started in June, but fortunately for me the results were instantaneous - energy increased dramatically, but most significantly my mood. It made it so easy to go on. As you I feel so fortunate to have discovered this way of eating; still it's kind of sad to think about how it came across - coincidentally watching RU-vid...this should be taught on a national level from childhood! Good luck to you all.
Thank you! I’m 75, have been Keto for almost 2 years, feeling great! Have been at goal, lost 41 lbs in 7 months & have maintained it for 15 months! Thanks 2Fit Docs for all your info & testing! I got a little bit off during Thanksgiving but am back on board, lost 4 of the 6 lbs I gained👍‼️. Back on program, best WOE in years!! YAY‼️👍. Thanks Doctors🤗👍‼️
Kerrygold makes a garlic herb butter that is AWESOME on steamed broccoli, cauli, asparagus, etc....no, i'm not a paid spokesperson, just a dude down 170# thanks to keto/if!
All I can do is urge anyone watching to give it your all. The benefits of the program are astounding. These are changes you CAN make and EASILY stick with.
My 85-yr-old mom has been on keto with IF since March 2019 and she is feeling better. She's also gone off some meds including statins. She doesn't lose as fast but just feeling better and that, we think, is the most important. She plans to do this the rest of her life...as do I.
Thank you Drs. Becky and Keith. I am 65 years old and have lost 17 lbs. on the Keto diet. I am doing IF 16:8 and sometimes 18:6. I did have a plateau of about a month when I reached 190 lbs. down from 205, my original weight when I started Keto. But I didn't give up. So this week I'm down to 188 lbs. I realize now that doing IF every day and skipping breakfast is the key. I had been doing IF only 2 or 3 times a week. You guys are my favorite go-to channel to get reliable info. I do get a lot of negative comments when I say I am eating more fat (good fats, of course) . But, as the saying goes, "the proof is in the pudding." Thank you for all you do.
I’m 63. I switched fr low carbs, low fats, hi veggies only to figure my brain was screaming for fats!! I increased a little carbs because I was only 45 kg the same weight I was as a teenager! I’m including grass fed butter, avocado oil (I don’t like the taste of the fruit tho), coconut oil, omega 3, nut/seed butters. Sourdough bread only. And including more salt . Sauerkraut. Coconut cider vinegar (a few times a week). All natural forms of vitamins.
71/disabled Vet with mobility issues and a lifetime of being overweight. Constant pain (22+ surgeries) fused lumbar and left leg. Started keto 10/01/21 and have had lost 30 lds so far (233lds start now around 200) with a goal of 165ld for optimum health. I struggle on occasion and hunger is always taunting me to cheat. I stay the course and push through. In fact I have a coffee mug with just those words on it that I use for my green tea. My best advise. The alternative is pain...sadness and death. I chose happiness and life. That helps keep me focused and on track. Be patient. It takes time..so did getting fat.
Thank you for posting!! I am 59 and people keep criticizing my new way of eating- low carb and fasting! I feel 💯 better than before! Starting my 6 month of healthy eating today! 59 pounds lost! Just realized that’s my age! LoL This is my lifestyle now! I have no plans of turning back! I thought I cooked from scratch but now I really cook from scratch and love it! Mindful eating! Thanks again for posting!!
I really credit you two to for figuring all this out. It is hard at over 50 to change those thought processes. All the keto dieters that I had seen were doing loads of bacon, fast food burgers with no bun, loads of fat. You taught me to do this in what I consider a healthy and sensible way with a big salad at lunch and cooked veggies at supper. I can't thank you enough!! I have 12 pounds to go. I can't believe it! It has slowed down but I never dreamed I would have gotten this far!
Make sure youre still eating plenty of fatty proteins! Red meat is very healthy, organ meats are sooooo good for you, daioy eggs in some form, bone broth. The original superfood was organ meat, not a vegetable.
So look forward to your videos. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and insight. The joy in your interactions with each other only makes these videos all the more enjoyable to watch.
Dr. Jason Fung says that back in the 70's and prior, we ate (or skipped) our breakfast, there was no mid morning snack at school, packed our lunch, if we wanted a snack after school, our parents said " no, you'll ruin your dinner," and after dinner if we wanted a snack our parents would say, "you should have eaten more dinner" lol, that's why many more people weren't overweight.
If you go to the McDonald's site and check the ingredients you will find that sugar is in everything on the menu. Do you add sugar to your burgers? Or to your salad or to your breakfast sandwich or to chicken? They do. All of their food is sugar addictive.
All the lies/evil that were pushed on us! So glad for “these” informative types of great videos through internet! Thank you both for another great video. (Yes, I also subscribe to your channel Dr Becky). GREAT information on both these channels! 💕💕💕
Mindset! Amen, how true. Recently moved back stateside and wow, all the old habits came flooding back. Thankfully videos like these, support from groups, and a watchful spouse can be your friend. Thanks Docs for all you do..
I love you two together. Can tell there is alot of love between you two the way you lovingly look at each other. Match made in health:-) keep up the good work and thanks for educating us trying to live a healthier life.
You both are just amazing real people. So helpful in your knowledge on general well being on food and nutrition. How and what to eat. Thank you so much for keeping it simple and real.
As many others have said before, you guys are so on target and great together. I’m 58 and had been suffering in my 50s from all the stuff mentioned before in Dr. Becky’s videos. I went to my doctor in September and it was not good at all. I had high insulin levels, high blood pressure, high LDL levels and felt terrible most days. Now I’ve never been extremely over weight but was over weight still and my body was a mess basically. I’ve been on Keto for two weeks now and have gone from 227lbs to 220. My weight is changing and I just feel better. Went back to my doc and he said whatever I was doing I should stick with it and maybe I would reach my goal weight of 200lbs by January 2020. Btw, all my numbers were the best he’d ever seen them and I was so pleased by that news, so nobody will ever convince me that Ketogenic dieting is not the answer. Also I was suffering from aches and pain all the time before Keto and now all that pain is gone. No I don’t have as many BMs as I used to, nor do I eat as much as I used to either, so there you go! Thank you for all of this valuable and life changing information! I think you’re helping thousands of people so please, I can’t thank you enough!🙏
And now I am at 200lbs already, my goal weight. My wife said she doesn’t want me losing any more weight so I guess I’ll see what I can do about that. I’m 6ft 1inch tall and I can’t believe what just losing nearly 30lbs has done for me. Keith, you must be feeling greater than I do! Thanks again!!
Thank you both for sharing your journey with us. Keith I completely feel your pain. Unfortunately we are in the same boat with a messed up metabolism. But you inspire me to continue on improving my health. God bless you both for being so transparent and willing to give your testimony.
Thank you so very much for the wonderful information. I have struggled to get the weight off for the past three years! 60 lbs. off and over 30 inches. I am over 60. I am pushing forward...I am still 30 lbs over my goal. I am very active, ride 4 1/2 miles each morning.
The mind set was what i needed t9 hear cause i sure have been having those same thoughts so thanks for sharing an i only 50 an am starting my keto journey Sunday at 6pm
I'm 46 and have been low carb/keto for about 1.5 yrs. My blood pressure is back to normal, my mood is even, and my doctor said my blood markers are perfect!
I’m late to this one. I just turned 50. Bless you both for addressing us wiser folks ! I think this definitely would have extended my grandparents lives! My aunt decided when my grandma turned 83 she would dictate what grandma should eat. She was forced to eat lots of grains, granted my Aunt like the rest of us had been misinformed about what is healthy, my Grandma quickly developed Diabetes 😞 Her health declined at an alarming rate! Unfortunately she is no longer on earth with us. Again , thank you! 🙏
Thank you for this! I am 55, prediabetes, high cholesterol (the bad kind) and triglycerides, high blood pressure and IBS. A low carb or keto diet has been recommended for me. I’m so conditioned to think fat is bad for me, eat lots of whole grains for carbs, etc., so I’m struggling for sure. I’m looking forward to learning more. You are very scientific about it, not just jumping on the bandwagon or promoting products. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
He is correct about McDonald's French Fries. They have dextrose in them. There is no "foodie" reason to put sugar in french fries. But as we know, sugar is addictive.
Although I’m not 50 yet (I’m 45) if I continue to wake up every morning with breath in my lungs I will be 50 years old eventually and the information provided in this video was very helpful thank you for sharing
Great video - Very useful. Before starting Keto, I thought that skipping breakfast would be too difficult and unsustainable. How wrong I was. Since bringing lots of good fats into my diet - and drastically lowering carbs - I'm hardly ever hungry. Skipping breakfast is a walk in the park and I don't have my first meal until around 2pm each day. After only four weeks, I'm down to two meals a day, fasting on an 18:6 regime. It's early days for me but I can definitely feel good things happening inside me.
You two are so cute. So what's 1 year when you have so many? I'm the one in our marriage who forgets. I'm 67 as of this last August and I'm getting geared up for the Keto diet because I don't want to have the inflammation and joint pain I'm experiencing or worse. I'm 5'1" and 160 lbs and can't loose weight. I don't over eat but like most people my age, and as you both said, we were taught wrong all our lives. I'm excited about what I'm learning and yes, very much plan for this to be my life style. Thanks for the info you provide. And a standing ovation to Captain Crunch as he falls overboard.
Thank you both for for the awesome and informative videos! At almost 55yo I have dropped 35lbs over 5 months by IF, 16/8, 18/6 and 20/4 plus cutting sugar, refined carbs and processed food to almost zero. I'm at 207lbs and feel great!.. Doc cut my BP meds in half, and am working to reverse a NAFL diagnosis.. 2 most noticeable benefits have been better mental focus and easier time getting out of bed for work each morning! (more energy)
Ya and in almost 60 in jan and I really like the ketogenic diets. I lost 45 and have to get more serious after christmas having trouble sticking too it but I'm holding my weight tes more fat keeps one from gaining too much
I was a teenager in the seventies so I know where your coming from with learned eating habits . I've been 16/8 fasting for three months and only have lost 8 pounds I'm struggling with cutting out suger and coffee, tea ect without milk but have started counting carbs .it's crazy but I want the health benefits but I'm struggling to change my mindset .I'm not giving up and l know with practice and sensible changes I'll win
Enjoy you guys! Love the husband/wife conversational style. I have to say that although reducing carbs is hard, hard, hard, and I’ve not been a star student, intermittent fasting has been one of the easier habits I’ve made. I’ve done it for 1-1/2 years. It makes me feel good not to have food in my belly all the time, I like giving my digestive system a break, and my blood glucose has been 👍🏼.
I’ve found reducing carbs quite easy. Don’t buy them, don’t have them in your house, and don’t put them in your mouth. What’s hard about that? Pay attention to how good your body feels when you don’t consume them. Train yourself to appreciate that.
I saw the movie "The magic pill" on Netflix in May of 2018 while I was 59 years old. It changed my life as it was the first time I heard about keto. Since then I have lost over 60 lbs. I have lost weight a number of different ways over the years, but it was always a struggle. Compared to the other methods, this is easy-peazy. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend it.
Appreciate your time and energy. Very informative and helpful. Thank you for your candor and transparency in all your videos. May I ask if there is an occasional alcohol beverage to enjoy. Tequila seems to be a popular one.
I am 66 years young and have lost 70lbs on keto...I started day one with intermittent fasting 16 hrs and 2 meals a day...then over the 6 1/2 mos it took me to lose the weight I cut down my extra fat intake and started eating just one meal a day with about 20 - 22 hrs fasting it help me break several plateaus. I feel so good and I am off of my blood pressure medicine after being on it for over 30 years....I still can't believe that...I have tried and tried to get off of it....so I am 66 years young and take no meds. The only thing I have noticed is I look like a deflated balloon..I have saggy creepy skin but I am hoping by fasting longer I can have some autophagy going on to help..honestly I would rather have the deflated skin and health. I and thinking about doing a 36 hr fast a couple times a month ... I just want to be sure it's ok to do at my age....any suggestions? Keto is so easy...no hunger and no craving...a lot of energy...and it's just like liposuction :)
Just out of college, no longer a starving student. So I made myself ribeyes fries in butter garlic and mushrooms. As in, forget the food pyramid , I'll eat what I want!!
How can I get my doctor on board? He seems very hesitant about keto. He's well up on studies, but because I'm diabetic, he assumes I'll have heart trouble, and keeps adding medications such as statins to protect me. A couple of years ago I lost 50 lbs going low carb. I gained back about 15 eating junk. Now I'm going fully keto and expect great things. It would be nice to have his support. The other day my gynecologist told me to eat free range eggs and grass fed beef and butter! Some of them are getting it!
Results speak louder to the drs. Hubby is diabetic but when he loses weight his A1C gets better. If the numbers are getting better they'll have to lower meds or get him off them eventually. 😊
Good video, reminds us of everything we should do. Just trying the fast/feast regime as I had started to get lazy and the pounds were coming back on, so this is a good reminder on how to maintain that keto mindset and discipline, so thank you as always for your great content. Going off topic, I'm a bit of a watch geek and would love to know what's on your wrist Dr Keith! :-)
@@2FitDocs "One" of your favourite watches, so clearly a collector of sorts yourself! :-) Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for your excellent channel.
Turned 50 in April and in the best shape of my life and I am eating fat. I feel so much more satiated now when I est healthy. Plus no more counting calories, macroes, etc. I feel free... I sometimes say I cant est fried eggs in bacon grease and that is the old mindset. The new says, "Sure you can!" Just love this way of eating....and IF. It has changed my life forever.
McDonalds fries are worse than you think. Read Ray Kroc's story. He discovered that pre-soaking the fries in sugar water, caused them to brown better than just frying plain potatoes. They still do that today, but use Dextrose and water to soak them at the factory before flash freezing and sending to the Franchisees.
Great vid, I've also been listening to Dr. Eric Berg and learning a lot. I'm 64 years old and a Keto beginner. In one week I've lost 13 lbs. I'm morbidly obese with bad knees. First week of Keto the things I noticed were...sleeping better, less inflammation and pain in joints, tons more energy. Dr. Berg suggested for those of us older folks with slower metabolism to do one meal a day with intermittent fasting...this seems to work for me because I'm not an early eater and never hungry until late afternoon. The trick for me is trying to get high fat, low carb and balance the macronutrients all in one meal so I'm not depriving myself of needed nutrients. Also, drinking a gallon of water a day is a struggle, but so far so good though. I do take a daily vitamin that helps. Still learning a lot, thanks for these videos.
Omg you are so right about the difficultly of adding fat to my diet. I feel like am sinning when I incorporate it into my cooking. All those years of doing it wrong 😢
