One correction to your video, I just received my Byrna LE several weeks ago and it came with two 5 round magazines. I called Byrna and they told me as of January of this year. They only include five round magazines with the option to purchase a seven round magazine, if you desire.
Great review, especially on the trigger pull and the joules or feet per second speed coming out of the LE. That is quite an improvement. I'm going to wait until the frenzy dies down a bit before making my purchase since I already have two SDs, which I bought for my wife and daughter, that I've converted to 12 grams CO2 cartridge. So far, it hasn't been used for self defense other than practicing with it. But we're pretty happy with it. 💯💯💯👍👍👍😁😁
Thanks for the informative review. The LE just became available and I purchased one. I've yet only had my LTL guns for home defense and carried on camping trips. The LE may become my EDC.
Thanks a lot for your videos. Here in Brazil it is very difficult to buy firearms. We can only have firearms for home defense or sport shooting. And if my home is broken into, I could still lose my gun and be sued for using it. In this way, it makes me resort to air weapons. Thanks to your videos I was able to learn a lot about this type of weaponry.
Chemical rounds are definitely the way to go with this model. It’s still underpowered for kinetic impact. But some great improvements and worth the extra $$.
So even though they have the SDXL, this is even better. And it looks like the trigger, valves, and internals been tuned for higher energy over consistent energy. I may invest in one of these, even though I have the SD. Thanks!
I did the same thing. I love the power increase , but like my byrna sd too. If you get the 7.1 gram rubber and aluminum balls , they make a complete pass through on a full gallon plastic jug.
One thing I'm concerned about in purchasing a Byrna LE is that fact that in most of the videos on the internet the pepper projectiles explode against a hard surface, or against someone in a t shirt. Now what if someone has a coat on, or a thicker jacket? Would a head shot be the only recourse?
Sorry for the late reply! I’m going to do some testing using the inert powder and shooting at a thick jacket to see what happens! The LE shoots much harder so that is a plus
@@swaggod226 Remember the Byrna is to stop an assailant and get away it's not meant to go through skin or seriously injure. A major injury = Lawsuit in some crazy states.
glow paint on the sites would help. you have to hold a light to them for a few secounds but should glow long enough. wish we could put night sites on these
If your doing what im doing which is living on the streets byrna aint bad because its smaller than all the others its easier to conceal but for the price it really aint worth it considering the S2 is stronger cheaper and not as fragile.. you can still get the s2 and use byrna pepper rounds which i highly suggest because as far as im aware thats the strongest mace you can get your hands on... As far as yhe co2 goes you can get any other launcher and use just about any co2 except for byrna.. you need their brand co2 otherwise you screw the whole system and that pooch aint gonna be happy... The LE also aint accurate for worth of shite it has approx 4" grouping.. Last thing is byrna has that damn screw cap for the co2 which if you just slightly overtighten it you blow out that whole co2 stem which byrna will only replace up to a few times
i have a byrna sd for bopping about town and to and fro from work... but i use umarex t50's with the 20j upgrade for the house. i keep one in each room. the energy delivered is a magnitude higher than my widdle byrna and i dont want to use tear gas in my home so kinetic is good.
Didn't hear 5 good reasons to buy a Bryna. Throat shots and head shots, what I aim for, making sure they don't chase after me. Been in a situation where the teargas didn't work. If I ever have to use a Bryna I'll empty the gun on them, reload while I'm walking away. If that doesn't work, my baseball bat will end it.
Awesome channel love your content you put out, just have one question how do you load your 7 round magazine with kinetic rounds and max pepper balls. Every time I load the 7 round magazine with kinetic and max I get 1 or 2 max pepper ball that cracked or broken thanks Gary
Hi Gary! I think they have improved the shell for one thing, the last batch I purchased the shell was shiny and looked a little stronger. But what I do is load 5 max rounds and 1 kinetic on top in the chemical magazine and I take the spare magazine and load only1 kinetic round in it and insert in the pistol and then remove that clip and insert the clip with the max rounds. This procedure eliminates putting pressure on the magazine spring. So you have 2 Kinetic on top followed by 5 max rounds safely stashed, I also never remove the chemical rounds from the magazine!
Would not recommend a head shot as you could shoot someone's eye out. These projectiles speed is approx 204 mph. So even with a jacket on they're gonna feel it. Equate that to being hit by a car going at that speed.
Thanks for the info. Can you speak to Byrna's warning not to use chemical in the 7 round? Something about higher spring tension. Have you had any issues?
If you have purchased the max rounds within the past year they seem to be less fragile, I do not load and unload the rounds from the chemical magazine and use another mag for shooting and so far 10 months no problem with leaking. I think they break open more often from the pressure of loading.

For conceal carry I wear the ComfortTac belly band holster purchased from Amazon, you do have to take a razor and cut a little stitch tac at the bottom of the holster pocket but it doesn’t compromise the holster! Thanks for watching and good luck!
Yeah I every time I try to get one they're out of stock so I bought the HD and don't you know the day after I tool delivery they got the LE back how frustrating
Having the first two rounds as hard nylon is also good in case you need to shoot through the side window of a car before turning it into a rolling tear gas chamber.
Off topic, but I'm curious about your mention in another video of having a "skin" on your SD. Where did you find "skins" for the Byrna, and are you going to do the same to your Byrna LE? Thank you for your videos.
Byrna still offers skins for the sd model, go to products and scroll down to clearance and they have a bunch of them listed for 25.00. On Amazon I purchased a sheet from GunSkins and had to make my own pattern for the LE. I plan on making a video on how I wrapped mine shortly. Thanks for watching!
On some of the other models you can adjust the power but on the LE Byrna capped the whole where the adjustment screw is, I tried lightly to pull it off but it didn’t budge. Someone here I’m sure will be brave enough to pry it off at some point!
From everything ive seen the LE produces more power out of the box than both the EP and the SD. Also from what i have seen the internals are def diffrent in the LE .So clearly its not just the ugly boost and 12 gram co2 Can you do a test with the LE without the boost and with an 8 gram co2? im very curious as to the numbers without the boost and 12g co2 Honestly not sure if this is even possible Asking for a friend......... lol
I have tried this! I sent several shots over the chrony and the outcome was very poor! The LE really needs the 12 gram, the power and shot count was awful!!!
I have had that problem in the past also, I purchased another 5 rounds to see if they were improved and 3 weeks in so far so good, time will tell. I never unload the chemical round magazine and use a separate mag to load the first kinetic round.
I think the burner is still stupid because it can't kill no one so it doesn't matter how hard it hits your attacker could still kill you so it's still useless in my opinion everybody is so afraid to make legal weapons for self-defense it's supposed to be used for self-defense self-defense is lethal that's not lethal we have a right to defend ourselves rather non-lethal or lethal so what is the use of making something like the burner that can't kill??
Point well taken! Less lethal doesn’t always work but it is being used more often by law enforcement for pain compliance rather than killing a person that may be viewed as unnecessary leading to lawsuits and getting fired. Those same rules apply 10 fold for civilians. If you catch a person breaking in to your car or shed and shoot them to protect your property there is a good chance you are going to jail! But the use of a less lethal to administer enough pain to stop the intruder is justifiable. With that being said I do protect my home with a firearm! Thanks for watching!
Very few self defense situations require lethal force and these are also used in law enforcement as an alternative. The kinetic rounds are reusable and cost much less than ammo
I’ll give you 5 reasons why NOT to buy the Byrna. 1. It’s overpriced for what it is 2. You can’t really take it apart to work on it. 3. There is really no upgrades to help with lack of stopping power. 4. Lack of stopping power unless you are using pepper balls ONLY. 5. The TCP and FSC are far batter launchers that can and actually will stop a perp in their tracks. I can list more if you like?? The ONLY thing the Byrna has going for it is the realistic look and a little bit easier to conceal. Or yeah another reason not to buy one is I heard Byrna is going to stop selling to the public and are strictly going to sell to law enforcement only. So you’ll never be able to get any replacement parts for them if something breaks not that you can really work on them anyways. Sorry to rain on anyone’s parade these are all FACTS.
The tcp fsc definately has more power,fps, I havr one...every time when I practice shoot it a ball shoots out when I twist the co2 to activate, giving me two kinectics in the barrel, the magazines sping retention is weak and two mags are broken. I HAVE Better reliability with the byrna and tippmann tipx, Tippmann Tipx is the best mags,best power amd very reliable and easy to use❤
Here's one reason not to buy cheap over priced toy. They will get you killed. Pepperballs breaks very expensive. May not work when you need it to. I got one for sale! LE.
