The last job I had I quit it without any plan and the way I quit was using the fact that I'm a single parent as an excuse that I needed to be with them. Being in HR myself I knew just how much retaliation I would get if I actually gave my true reason why I quit the job... That's where experience jumps in.

I submitted my resignation 2 weeks ago to my toxic workplace... I commented on a different video a few weeks/months ago (I think on the toxic boss video)... I had no other job lined up.. 2 days later, a recruiter contacted me to tell me another company wanted to interview me ASAP... I interviewed with them the next week and I was still driving home when the recruiter called to tell me they offered me the job... Making significantly more than i made at my toxic job. Thanks so much for your help and guidance!! It has been so validating and encouraging!!

I think a big problem people have is this "Winners never quit" mentality. The truth is that belief is completely STUPID!! A better 'motto' is "Winners know WHEN to quit". You have to take charge of your job, NOT let the job take charge of you.

That is absolutely true. There was no way in hell my job was going to improve in either responsabilities, wage increase or even work for that matter. After a few months, I was even wondering why they filled the position in the first place. Apparently, there was a high turnover rate for my position. I even expressed my concerns to my boss as to why I wasn't given more work. But all he was concerned about was doing bullshit evaluations every four months and not having anything meaningful to add. What I feared the most eventually happened: I was laid off without any reason.

I feel you. I had my first corporate job 8 years ago and my boss was a failed lawyer who kept using her law knowledge against people who didn’t know better. One day I had just finished making a survey for a customer and there was 2 minutes on the clock for us to finish the program and I signed on unavailable. My boss saw this and chastized me from the other Side of the room, screaming me to get back online and I Take a customer staying 10 min over clock😡. But, instead of acting like a bitch I own my abuse and work 45 minutes taking more than 300 proapects and making 4 surveys, which was 3h of worth of work. She would come to my desk asking me to log out But I didnt listen. I became the top worker since I was also among the few who came to work on the Weekends meaning she couldn’t fire me even if I nearly broke the call system for being the only one who took calls for 45 min streight. Then a week after I quit😂😂😂😂😂😂. BOOM. The Look on her face was priceless😤😤😤😤😤😂😂😂😂😂😂

The state I work in is an employee at will state. The employer doesn't have to give warning or reason for letting you go but will have to pay unemployment compensation if he does this. You can leave anytime you want without warning or reason but you can not get unemployment compensation. ( so at my age I can retire anytime I want without reprocussion.😀😝) In both situations it is without reprocussion unless its a violation of the state's employee laws. ( discrimination, not requiring a lunch break after so many hours, etc.) They used to tell us that if you don't like it you can always walk out of here. That was until COVID came along.

My company kept piling work on me and it pushed me to a breaking point and I barely had time off the past few years! There should be laws that people don’t have to work more than 5 days a week or a certain amount of hours and everyone should be able to get 2-3 weeks vacation a year. I have been working with an extremely toxic narcissistic boss and it has caused me a great deal of distress and turmoil. My physical and mental health has quickly deteriorated and in the end I was diagnosed with a burnout. After that I realised no amount of money is worth working with such a boss. I went through the same thing, and I quit my job there after working for a year there. Thanks to an excruciating amount of micromanagement, threats and accusations by my boss, especially through phone calls hours after my shift ended (sometimes at 11 PM to midnight), or humiliating me in front of my colleagues at team meetings, I have over time developed a barrage of anxiety attacks, insomnia, eating complications and depression, and after I finally broke down in front of my therapist, I knew I had to quit.

I could provide you with a wall of text that provides examples of the workplace, and the boss's toxic mindset. I was overworked, underappreciated, never given credit for my work, and barred from promotion. I'm in a new job, and happy. I have a set schedule, good hours, decent pay, and holidays off. The best part is, I left with my head high and kept my complaints to myself. I took the high road, and it felt great keeping my head high and providing the same work ethic I had always presented to that boss.

Upper management and their decisions are what I would consider the toxic parts of the job. Really, the reason I'm still here is that I don't know what else to do, as I'm completely burned out on IT in general and I don't want another IT job, but haven't figured out how to get to something I might like that wouldn't result in a massive pay cut. I resigned from a company after less than six months due to a multitude of reasons but the most significant reasons were zero safety protocols, after two months without a desk I was literally shoved into the aisleway of a fire exit (with chair blocking exit door), head of facility hired a different boss to literally follow me everywhere (even into the bathroom). The last straw was new "boss" watching me write emails and telling me what to delete and write instead. Head would dodge any attempt for me to discuss and address issues so a couple days later I came in, wrote brief email resignation at head honcho's desk (he was on vacation all week), left badge and laptop at his desk, started a business, and never looked back. I’ve been at a place for about 8 months. The person training me left after my three months. I was never fully trained. Then, I was doing the position on my own for about 1 1/2 months (two person job). Then, a new person gets hired (who has many more years of experience compared to me). My boss immediately likes that person better than me and has been throwing more work to that person and taking work away from me. Mind you, that person has decades of experience and I only have a few years, so of course, they will be better than me. Now, my boss is basically telling me I’m doing everything wrong, even though I’m doing it the way the other person was training me, so I THOUGHT I was doing everything right. I’m definitely starting to believe the environment is toxic. It’s a job that I want to work out for me, but I’m having doubts. I’m not really sure what to do. I know the person who quit had told me that they had to fight to get a second person doing the position. I’m thinking they never wanted a second person. Now, since they hired the new person with many more years of experience, I believe they are going to get rid of me and make that person do all the work. However, that is also wrong because there is no way one person can do the job. It’s way too much of a workload for any person no matter how good you are.

I just recently left my job after 3 years. The job was an absolute mess. Since day one it was nothing but trouble. I kept butting heads with management over various issues concerning my role & got nowhere. Management (IMO) was very biased, elitist & toxic. The job was easy, but the work load was unrealistic and very demanding. I once had a miscommunication over a job swap & got screamed at! WTF! My supervisor at the time was described (in their words) a tyrant. Corporate knew he was a problem but waited too long to fire him. The damage was already done. Since I was there the company went trough not 1, not 2 but 3 "HR" managers. I am so glad I finally escaped the mess of "entry level" manufacturing.

So she stayed just because she didn't want to be seen as a quitter, even though she was most likely super stressed and worked to the bone. My last job tried to make me and another associate look like trouble makers. We both quit and we were both under fmla and work accommodations. They constantly treated me like I was a liar and a nuisance. If I went up the corporate ladder it only got worse. Luckily I was able to get another job through my network. My resignation was a two day "effective immediately" note. I didn't rag on them for their bad behavior towards me. But be sure I wouldn't want to shop there anymore either.

Wow, this video gave me a one two punch! I have realized they want to keep me where they have me now. I am currently TRAINING my new supervisor, while being denied all the promotions I’ve applied for. I received another job offer for more pay and company I know is more diverse. I was contemplating staying, but this video really gave me the truth I needed.

Hey just read your experience it's a year later. How's your new job? Please tell me there's life after a toxic culture. My coworker keeps telling me to stay-that it's bad everywhere. I'm in the exact spot you were in-denied advancement twice now and am being asked to train the very people that were put into said positions. I just can't anymore but don't have another opportunity in place.

One thing about quitting your job although some bills may be behind it’s good to have free time to do all this extra paper work and free time to actually go to interviews.

I just quit my job after 4 years. After giving notice, I was offered a promotion in leadership, something I applied for 11 times prior. Despite doing the leadership work, I wasn't paid. Toxic toxic toxic. I also submitted my SECOND EEOC complaint for the same company. I happily left for a company who's environment is UNMATCHED. 😊

@@espianmashias9565 it has. Document everything! I made the mistake of pushing off my first complaint because of company changes. Little did I know, they were running out the clock for to launch charges that the EEOC would handle.

My last day on my current job is on Friday 5/20/22. I gave my two weeks on 5/6/22. The company that I work for has high turnover and when they finally get hard workers (myself included) they burn those hard workers to the ground and unexpectedly dump more and more work as the day progresses, even when we have a full staff. Because of this my mental health is not in a good position and I found a job at another location that has a more structured culture with less anxiety and stress beginning 5/23/22. I'm very excited 😁.

I literally quit my job last week. It was a big corporation and great work culture but the clientele we dealt with were angry all of the time and the attendance policy for this company was insane. It got to the point I was having panic attacks and intense anxiety daily and I worked from home which is supposed to be great right? Nah. Lol. I'm so glad I left when I did.

I would never go to HR. They seem to be protective of the culprit managers and the company as a whole. I've never seen HR have the regualr employee 's best interest in mind but rather trying to find a way to keep the company out of hot water legally. For me, I would go to EEOC or get an attorney. I would never show my hand by talking to HR. But yes, I would recommend getting out of there, even if you have to pinch pennies for a while. I have done that and found that I was actually more focused in my job search and it accerlerated my career by working in a different environment.

I've been in a situation where our college puts so much projects on our plates but give so little time to complete them, causing us to fall behind and needing to retake the courses again. It also makes it harder for us to feel good about the work we did because it starts to become more about doing than learning

Seriously contemplating quitting my job. Been dealing with burnout for a year now. Taking time off to recharge is almost not worth the stress of preparing to take leave. My employer puts a heavy emphasis on "we are family" and that has created favortism, blurred lines etc. And having zero control over workoad and managements response to having too much work is to work OT. Its not a healthy environment and now I hate it.
