At 72 years old, every car I've driven, and there have been many, I have always had to release the "emergency" brake manually every time I got in to go somewhere. Even 18 wheelers. Why would/should the Maverick be any different? Just push the button!
@justicecenter
@justicecenter Год назад
The button he is speaking about is not for the emergency brake it’s for the hill hold feature. It uses the emergency brake to hold your vehicle on a hill so it doesn’t roll backwards moving your foot from brake pedal to gas pedal. As soon as you push on gas pedal the brakes automatically release.

100% The electronics and computerization are actually a liability and at times a danger. Car thieves have caught onto the wireless security systems of cars all over and have been distributing their software for cracking these systems so that random street thugs can get into cars and drive them away faster than they did when they were using slim jims and hotwiring. These aren’t “issues” as they are across many brands. My Hyundai has a pop up on the media center that stays for about 30sec or so to pay attention to driving and will go away prematurely if I click “confirm”. Defaulting to normal vs eco (or whatever) is the right thing to do. I have a 2020 explorer that’s the same way and that’s GOOD. I have a teardrop camper and I wouldn’t want the vehicle to default to tow after I’ve used it. As far as the auto brake thing, I am glad that remembers the preference and as it fundamentally changes your behavior while driving, it SHOULD remember your choice. Water bottle slot complaint? Please. Settle down. There’s roughly 3836638 different bottles to choose from on the market. If compatibility with that slot is important, get a bottle that fits. Hybrid “whine”? I have no experience or opinion. Again…not “issues” unless you think a vehicle needs to be custom fit for your specific needs rather than appeal to the most amount of people as possible.

Eco mode doesn’t really do anything anyway, just lugs the engine and kills your AC power. The hybrid noises are mandated from the government. It has to make noise to warn potential pedestrians of your approach when in electric mode. And lastly your water bottle situation is definitely a you problem cause any regular sized bottle I’ve used, fits no problem and like it was designed for it.

I found it annoying because I wanted it on most of the time and I would pull up to a light and yep, autobrake not on. For me, whatever the settings were when I shut off the car, unless there is a safety concern, should be the same way the next time I start the car. There is probably a valid engineering reason why the truck goes back to "normal" after a key cycle... not that it makes you feel better, but I think it is because the carmakers do the emissions/fuel economy certification in one mode ("Normal") and for it to be valid the vehicle must return to Normal on a new drive. If it stayed in Eco or Sport, I think then they would have to certify in each mode, which is a lot of development cost. This is a theory, I am not speaking for Ford.

I'll listen more closely, I'm sure it is behind me. I also hate the small mirrors up in the corner of both rear view mirrors! The Maverick has a big problem with blind spots! Please add it to your list! When I started driving it I almost side swiped a car, by not intensely staring at the small mirrors. Granted I'm 75, but I should be able to see the car beside me in the big portion of the mirror. I believe the mirrors can be enhanced greatly by changing the optics! Well, we came up with the following. It won't fit any normal size water bottle and the bottom of the space is not flat so your super small water bottle that fits will just tip over instantly and slide around. I have the XL Ecoboost FWD. All of what you mentioned here are piddly inconveniences that (if Ford is listening) will rectify in subsequent model years (my only personal complaint is that the XL should come standard with cruise control.) If you're part of the MTC forum, you've probably seen the discussion that switching drive modes should start in Eco rather than normal in both the EB and Hybrid models. Trust me when I say it isn't any BFD to tap 3-4 drive modes over to get to Eco. The whole door/water bottle thing way WAY overhyped by Ford, and whoever was on that planning team needs to have their teeth slapped until their gums bleed, with the exception of the person who thought out the generous side door storage. I have both of mine shoved full of plastic bags to pick up trash while camping, keep the truck clean, etc. (BTW, the only flask that actually fits in the door panel is a 21oz Hydro Flask.) What probably should be addressed is the lack of insulation between the engine bay and the passenger cabin. I personally haven't had any issues but this is one of those things that Ford shouldn't have cheaped-out on. I know the hybrid is being hyped and y'all go on with your gas mileage - more power to you. But is anyone paying attention to the Ecoboost mileage? If you DO drive in Eco mode of of the time and don't beat your Mav, I personally have gotten anywhere between 28-30 city MPG, and between 31-39mpg on the highway consistently driving 70-72mph. Took a huge risk buying a first year truck that I couldn't test drive, couldn't sit it, etc. We'll see where things go in the next five years. I'm a first-time Ford/truck owner and so far I'm loving my Maverick.
