I had the foresight to run the chains thru pipes in a triangle to keep the towed car under control. The 35 mile trip was no problem at all. Critical thinking is so useful.
@@MadScientist267 was pulling someone and his brakes over heated and gravity and a strong tail wind had us traveling at a very high speed so we were in a high speed dance of death. i couldn't pull over and let him pass and he couldn't pass me. he was in my slip stream so i had to keep going faster to keep him from hittimg me or getting out of control from him running over the slack in the tow chain. i don't understand your point or what kind of triangle you had. please explain. what would you have done if the car you were pulling had been gaining more and more speed. never pull with a strong chain. if you run over a tow rope, the rope will part and at least you eon't collide,
@@johngillon6969 There was no possibility of it running wild because the 2 cars (same model in fact) were held in proximity to each other by the chain and pipe, about 4 feet apart. The chain ran thru the pipes, about 2" diameter or so, and was attached to both tow hooks on the car being pulled, and to the center of the rear of the car pulling it. They couldn't move in relation to one another front to back because the chain took the tension and the pipes took the compressive forces. The triangle that formed allowed the towed car to pivot and be pulled safely. Effectively a home made tow bar on the fly. The two cars behaved as more or less a single unit.
@@MadScientist267Yes. When I lived in Japan two or three of us used to tow our race car with a chain through a pipe. For our short distance and slow speeds it worked pretty well.
@@MadScientist267 right i run across a motorist needing a tow and by gosh i have 3 pieces of pipe just the right length in my trunk. you a genius i guess, brilliant folks have such pipes in their trunks, just waiting to find someone needs a tow. you so brilliant you sure set me strait. thanks brilliant dude
I always appreciate the Russian way of thinking about a problem. Then proceeding with the first thought. Russian perseverance is admirable and fun to watch at the same time.
I once rope towed a 1997 Accent GT with a 1987 Hyundai Pony ~25KM - I was passing slower traffic with my buddy in the Accent being like WTF... Made it !
Is it just me or is this one packed full of ads? I'm only like 5 minutes in and ads have popped up 3 different times. Which is like insane amounts compared to normal.
Hello can you make a new video of a welding inside a stripped crank shaft strip bolt thread hole and create a new thread hole. This option is when mechanic can't retap a tripped thread hole anymore. Later put a nut in that hole and weld the nut in hole to filled the whole hole space to fit the new bolt. Will the crank shaft new thread hold strong or not add nut just weld the hole. Retap the weld hole will the thread hole hold strong. Make make two video one with weld nut in the hole and one with no nut weld in the crank shaft thread hole. Which one is better stronger thread hole. Please make the video. Keep making them video uploading. We all keeping up updating and enjoying all of them older videos and liking them.

That was a fun video. It's good to see what happens when you are towing a car behind you and something unexpected happens. We have all towed a friend to their house or a garage or whatever. Thanks for the video. Glad you had some fun making it.
Well since you have painfully shown that is it not a good idea to tow a car on the end of a rope. How about you go ovber this with the car on a tow bar. I think that you will find it interesting. Especially if the towed car is hit by someone getting to close.
5 things you should NOT do when towing a car: 1) Flat tow a car with a rope 2) Flat tow a car with a chain 3) Flat tow a car with anything flexible 4) Flat tow a car without brakes 5) You get the idea
I watched a guy pull someone in an F-150 way too quickly around a corner and the F-150 had power steering so he couldn't turn it quickly enough. The F-150 went up onto the sidewalk and hit a metal light pole. Then the light pole sheared and chopped the roof of the car in front of me. It was like it all happened in slow motion.
On th eplus side, at least it shows that in the event of SHTF, the towing rope or strap would let go and probably prevent an even worse accident, but that depends on the towing driver's reactions, and any issues with the car they're driving too (given heavier cars with no boosted brakes (cos no engine running) can be a real problem to get them to stop)...
Towing a boat trailer backwards at high speed is fun to watch... So many things can go wrong... Also towing heavy trailer downhill can go wrong really fast...
I want to know what kind of car can hit something and keep going. Do Ladas break the radiator easily or can they still run for a while with low coolant? It would be interesting to hit something hard enough to damage the front of the car, and drive it to see how long you can go.
Maybe they like their freedom to make their own choices, like we used to here in 'Murica before the democrats took hold. Maybe they like making their own choices, rather than having the government nannies doing it for us, like we do.
use two metal bars, that mount to the hitch and span outward to the other vehicles bumper corners. making a form of geometric triangulation, some old metal pipe can at times cost less then a ratchet strap, even more so after the strap snaps off.
I recall all those times the MythBusters stopped their experiments halfway because they rang their insurance company who decided that they wouldn't be covered.
I’ve been in the back car while being towed by a rope a few times when I was younger. Where possible we did it while road conditions were good with low traffic. And travelled at speeds below 40kmh. A bit older, wiser and a better paying job now so I either hire a car trailer or pay for a tow truck. Pretty sure this practice has been banned in Australia for quite some time now.
Towing a car with a rope, also known as "rope towing" or "tow roping," is generally allowed, but it comes with strict conditions: Distance and Speed: Rope towing is usually limited to short distances and low speeds. Specific speed limits may apply, and they are typically lower than regular road speed limits.30 Aug 2023
The Road Safety Road Rules 2017 state that a driver is prohibited from towing a vehicle with a rope, chain, or any other device that is functionally equivalent, unless the vehicle being towed is a disabled vehicle that is being moved to the closest place where it can be repaired, and the movement is made as quickly as possible after the vehicle became disabled.
Wow bunch of sissys lol. Its fine as long as you go slow. Like 30 mph. Wouldnt go too much faster than that. Even tho i have before, and trust me, its starts to get scary at 50 or so lol
can you test how the car would drive if it had a wider piston and a smaller connecting rod, if you did it on the old engine, change bore and stroke ‼️‼️💪💪👍👍
