I’m a newly diagnosed diabetic with hypertension , My A1C was 9.7 and a blood pressure of 156/116. The day I was diagnosed, I decided to change everything. Eliminated all the things I need to avoid and learned to eating healthy foods in moderation increased my physical activities running and weight training almost daily. I was diagnosed 2 months ago and I recently got another blood sugar test. My A1C is now at 6.7 and bp of 117/75. I lost a lot of weight. Working on getting my A1C below 5.7, it’s getting easier to adjust my lifestyle to keep blood sugar in check.
@@a23mar27 ok so let me tell you about my day to better explain my adjustments. My first meal is at 9am, it consist of 2 home baked sourdough bread with peanut butter or any nut butter no sugar added and an egg(boiled, fried w/avocado oil, or scrambled with tomatoes) this will bring me to about 3-4 points(every 15g of carbs is 1 point), black coffee, and to finish it I’ll eat a small apple or an orange. I’ll wait about an hour then I’ll go for my run/weight lift @ the gym. Sometimes I’ll do both but on different time of day. My run 9.5 km 3 times a week. My lunch is around 1 or 2pm, I’ll have 73g or quinoa or white rice(If I can’t avoid it like eating out), lots of green leafy veggies, and about 170g lean protein, I’ll also have an orange, or an apple, or both. I’ll go for a 30 mins walk/or just stand while working. Dinner is @6pm and almost similar to what for lunch. If I get hungry between meals I snack on mix nuts, or baked sweet purple yams, fruits with low glucose index. I also started drinking about 2 gallons of water since I’m active and sweat a lot. I play around with my meal to see what fits my needs and also so that I don’t get bored of what I’m eating. I also started setting realistic goals so that I know I can achieve it.
Hi Dr. Tan, I've been diabetic for 27yrs na. I've learned eating the right way from diabetic class. Anyway, I based here in US. Tama po lahat ng sinabi ninyo. I'm also insulin dependent. Yung saging nakakataas ng A1C talaga. Salamat sa video nyo nakakatulong sa mga diabetic din na walang knowledge sa how to take care of your diabetes.

Last year I was diagnosed with diabetes with 7.3HBAIC but after 3 months losing 18lbs, HBA1C down to 5.7. Then after cutting down on white color food and fruits, junk food, instant noodles etc. after 3 months my HBAIC is now 5.2. And losing 40lbs. My dr said if after 3 months my HBA1C is still at 5.2, I’ll be off medication. Even my hypertension is gone.
Thank you doc for your advice. Been diagnosed with diabetes for 5 years already. Following a low carb diet but still not successful with getting rid of my medication. I’m down to 1 tablet a day though so it’s kinda good I guess. Couldn’t find a low cab doctor here in Negros Oriental which is sad.
Thank you for the informative ways diabetic to avoid. I was diagnosed with diabetes a month ago. My hb1ac is 13.7%, changed my eating lifestyle, avoiding all sweets, cut my rice intake and other food that will raise my blood sugar. My goal is to lower my hb1ac result on my next laboratory on june.

Hi Dr. tan new subscriber here po. Pre diabetic pa lang po ako pero pinapainom na po ako ng metformin 1000mg and dapaglifozin. Takot po ako sa effect ng Met sa kidneys ko. I also drink hypertension meds (Amlife) and rosuvastatin. 3 months pa lang po ako naka Met and dapag.
Hi Dr. Josephine Rojo-Tan. I’ve started doing Low-Carbs, Fasting Since 3rd week of November, until sobrang laki na po ang na lose kong weight, From 170lbs naging 140lbs na lang ho ako. But there’s a time na nadadapa ako but a little of carbs a slice of bread And eating dark chocolate once in a while. I hope I could join your online class someday. Thank you so much at nakilala ko kayo sa RU-vid. Bago ko pa po kayo napanood sa youtube ay nagagawa ko na po ang fasting at eating meal with red rice every morming. And now low carbs na po ako. More power and God bless you. Thank you for keeping us knowledgable about Low carbs and Fasting.
Very good advice here. Eat low carb or keto and get rid of type 2 diabetes. I even stopped my metformin medication, because diet alone is enough for me. I don't do much exercise, but I live an active life. I feel so much better without all the 'old age' symptoms I had.
