WHICH DISH do you want to try the most? If I could have one of them right now, I'd probably go for the Mackerel Sushi. Simple, but bloody delicious. Since filming this video, I've found myself ordering it every time I go for sushi.
Abroad in Japan I usually order mackerel sushi when I go out for sushi, but mind you, I don't live in Japan so it's not nearly as quality as that looks. That being said, I would probably try the ramen, because come on... butter and curry in a delicious pork ramen? I have to. But it does look a bit like obesity in a bowl.
@@pablodavidclavijo4609 Because of a certain scene in Tampopo, I'd never been able to eat it, even if someone said it was the most heavenly thing on earth. I hide my eyes every time that scene unfolds. RIP Turtle.
Wow! I was born in the Aomori! I'm so happy that a foreigner introduce my hometown! Surely, the Aomori is harsh place to live. But there is the Aomori's ramen noodles which everyone can't eat except here. By all means, please come to Aomori prefecture if you come to Japan.
I un-ironically think Natsuki describing the spicy broth as "Hot Dancing" was brilliant. His descriptions of the taste of food are rich with visual imagery. Like when he described Maezawa Beef like a "Slow River" and "Calm Lake". Soul of a poet! ...and justice.
Watching this again, I think back to when I first watched this, and where I was at in my life. Feeling so hungry, and so broke that I couldn't really afford any food other than potatoes and mushrooms, or occasionally ground pork if it was on sale, I remember crying at how good that food looked. Feeling incredibly grateful that I survived that time and am in a much better place now.
That's a bit more mediocre quality than justice delicious. If it was a scale, it should probably go: Lowest: Like a Magic Middle: Justice Good Highest: Justice Delicious!
After having watched Natsuki the movie, I have a renewed appreciation for his appearance in this video. To help a friend make a video, he drove 12 hours away from his 15-hr/day work schedule. He looked visibly exhausted and still tried to be a good host and entertain us. Mad respect and love for Natsuki.
@@DIANAROSS4EVER Actually lots of tortoises or turtles have green mouths and tongues. They intentionally leave bits of moss on their mouths as a disguise for mossy rocks or seaweed (if they live underwater) to lure and catch prey.
1:18 "...famous of being the city with the highest level of snow fall on the planet" *IS* precisely why I'd like to see you visit Aomori at the peak of Winter!!!
You're the only RU-vidr that I have notifications turned on for. Your videos motivate me so much to keep on learning Japanese and work towards my goal of going next year. Thanks for the great content! ありがとう!
Wow! That restaurant at 8:45 looks like cafe in anime called "Flying witch". After some googling I found out that I was right. The cafe from anime was modeled after that building.
I'd like to hear Chris actually using japanese. The videos are cut in a way that we might see him say a word or two but never do we hear an actual conversation or anything more than a "domo" or "arigatou". I might just be weird tho, I like languages... :'(
Chris, you make the best videos on RU-vid. You're absolutely hilarious, but also show such a genuine side of yourself, the people and the places you visit. I'm addicted to this channel :)
0:25 "Japan is home, to arguably the finest cuisine in the world" And that line is arguably, the most used by Chris. PS: All food expats in Japan uses this phrase.
I'm actually studying abroad in Hirosaki University and often visit the area in Hirosaki where you shot the video, Hirosaki Castle! I have even visited Aomori and eaten the same ramen in the same shop!! The world is so small! It's amazing that you are bringing attention to this part of Japan!
I always get so excited every time I see you posted a new video. I love your layout and casual sense to your videos as well as your comical attitude and quirky friends. I'm glad to see you have so much fun on your adventures and cannot wait until next time!!
Seeing that giant market made me think; more than going out to eat in Japan, I would probably buy some quality ingredients and just learn to cook an array of dishes while I'm there, since I love to cook anyway. That way, when I go home, I can eat most of them again, within reason (because I don't live next to the sea, so a variety of fresh fish is hard to come by). Anyway, thanks for introducing us to more delicious looking Japanese food. Now I'm going to go eat some cereal, I guess...
Chris , I absolutely love your videos and I'm so happy you've started getting back into the Routine of making videos every week for us . Your videos have travelled all over the world and including right here in Ireland . Thanks for making us smile :)
Came upon your videos by accident, while exploring the wonders of You-Tube. Now I cannot get enough of them. Its not just because I'm a fan of Japanese culture, food etc. But because you make them so enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work!
Aomori City represent~! ✨ I practically clicked at hyper speed seeing Aomori in the title lol It was great to see y'all enjoying Aomori outside of Nebuta and the insane snow here too!
Your content has amazing production value. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos and thank you for dedicating so much time for these documentaries.
I'm flying to Japan for two weeks in April next year. Your channel has been such a great resource for planning my journey :) just wanted to say thanks for all the great content!
I appreciate your videos so much, thank you for taking the time to produce them. I am currently rearranging my life where I could possibly retire my life in America and relocate to Japan, I can’t wait to experience first hand the cuisine, culture and people. Again, thank you very much 💕💕💕💕💕
That apple curry looked awesome Chris. I have always wanted to visit Aomori prefecture., nice laid back farm communities, a warm, friendly, and charming place.
Going back through and rewatching everything as I hadn't realized I originally viewed with an ad blocker on. This time I noticed something... IS THAT TORTOISE WEARING A DIAPER?!
I've just found your videos, and I love them! Great work, I'm definitely subscribing. 😊 I normally watch videos of expats in China, so you'd be the first expat in Japan I've subbed to. Keep up the good work!
Hi! Just came from your TED video and subscribed to this channel right away! What "nokke" actually means here is "putting-on-top" coming from the verb "nokke-ru", which is the casual version of "nose-ru" meaning "to put on top". So you can nokke-ru whatever you like on top of the rice bowl, just as you perfectly explained! I love your positive attitude towards "the cultural differences" in your vlogs, and the contents seem to be quite useful even for the native Japanese viewers like me!
Holy shit i just went on your channel because i was curious to see how long ago it was since a traditional AIJ was post and now i find you posted a vid 50mins ago Well Played Chris
I think the "nokke" of nokkedon refers to "nokkeru", meaning to place something on top of something. Not that I knew, I just happened to have looked for it in a dictionary, because I tried to read the explanation of the voucher system. tangorin.com/general/nokke By the way, I would love to see more steady shots of restaurant menus, Chris! Great video as always, thanks!
There was a similar "tea house" in Flying Witch, like the European styled one in the park. If I recall correctly it took place somewhere in Aomori. Does anybody know if it is a coincidence?
