A good friend of mine is a Millwall fan and he was at the Luton game - he told me one of the things not mentioned enough was the fighting after the game - he said getting back to the station in one piece was a miracle as Millwall were attacked at every corner on the way back, he said don't feel sorry for little Luton, they gave as good as they got.

Just to put an end to the pathetic rumours we had West Ham Chelsea etc at Luton in 85 what happened was when we got took to court the judge would ask who we supported one of us said West Ham the rest of us started laughing and from that moment on when we went into the dock we would say we were Chelsea or West Ham etc and the media picked it up and ran with it, we would never under any circumstances join with anyone ( oh unless it’s away with England) and if anyone is silly enough to believe we would need to join up to take on Luton then they are melts, kudos to the migs they tried to have it but we’re outnumbered and outmatched still their good lads.

But when it kicked off on the pitch, Spurs nutters from all sides went on the pitch and battered Chelsea. Spurs were wearing the dark blue and white scarves clearly seen. Chelsea had a medium blue and white scarf. Reflecting the teams colours at that time. Chelsea won other battles with Spurs, but not this day. Spurs were much stronger at that time and were never worried about Chelsea. That would switch in the 80s when Chelsea were much stronger.

Only fellow hooligans got caught up in the trouble. When I was about 12 I was with my brother at Luton v Coventry. There were running battles all afternoon. We were on Dunstable Road (the main road at the bottom of the roads that lead to Kenilworth Road). Loads of Coventry fans started running towards us. I quickly ran into a shop. My brother who was three years older than me had his Luton scarf on and continued walking down Dunstable Road. When I caught up with him I asked why he didn’t try to get away from the Coventry fans. He told me that there was honour in football firms. If you weren’t looking for trouble you’d not be touched. Only fellow hooligans would get hurt and rare,y was there serious injury. The scum media make a mountain out of a molehill. Like at WBA v Wolves last week. The game was stopped for 40 minutes because a couple of Wolves fans were celebrating in the WBA stand. The media were using the same old slogans. Disgusting scenes. Back to the bad old days. Local derbies are the most anticipated games going. Because of the hostility. Without the hooligans our game would be lacking atmosphere. Just like Premier League stadiums these days. Lower league fans are so much better. We Luton are shocked at the lack of noise in Prem football. Pundits always mention the atmosphere at Kenilworth Road. They don’t mention it when at stadium six times bigger.
