That's possible, I've been to New York 10X more than Boston. Plus the Yorkers think my state is like happy fun getaway land from the turmoil of the city. It's not, it's a money/sugar coated whites of west VA in most areas. But rarely do I see them "playin kads in the Kah in the pahkin lot" around here lol ;)

El Bazrington Yeah im Aussie, and I totally agree. The continent is mostly desert, although you will find pretty much every terrain on earth here, it even snows during winter in certain parts. And theres an area in Tasmania where they get snow all year round, although of course you dont get huge amounts of it in the summer.

To be fair to the chick in the water, large objects under the water are terrifying. It's actually a fairly well studied psychological phenomenon. Even if it is just a large rock or something like a barrel, if it is deep down in the water and you can see it, it seems really scary.

I had no idea trainspotting was such a thrilling hobby. I should try it myself, if I can possibly stay awake. And yeah, the river thing? That was a dry river flowing for the first time during the wet season in what is, to all appearances, a very dry part of Australia. Managing to catch that first trickle in the riverbed _is_ kind of special.

I once heard a train conductor refer to these people as FTNs, which was their little industry term for Fuckin' Train Nuts. Sometimes, when your local river hasn't had any water in it for the past 5 or so years, and you manage to film the water returning to it, you might get a little excited. It kind of means things like your town isn't going to be abandoned because it hasn't rained in over a decade and you might be able to pay your bills this year because your farm might actually be able to support crops and animals without having water and food trucked in and relying on government support.

My dad is 68 years old and acts like a little kid when rare trains pass through town. He can't drive so my mom usually takes him but occasionally I'll take him. My dad is a good but odd man who has never shown much happiness but when a goofy train comes through town he acts like a 6 year old boy. Pretty cool actually lol

I once was at the Columbus zoo (or Cincinnati, it's been a while) where they had a massive manatee exhibit. Last time I was there however there was this one kid, just absolutely bawling his eyes out with the ferocity that would have child services running to investigate. Why? Because apparently he considered the manatee to be far too ugly to comprehend and just couldn't handle it.
