100% on how a diy video should be. Straight to the point and all you need to know. No long drawn out tips on jacking up vehicle, chocking the tires, un hooking batt cables , weather report ,etc. Great video!!!
I just did this transmission filter and fluid change a couple of months ago. My trucks radiator transmission cooler failed. I caught it early while running the heater I smelled what I thought was diesel. After popping the hood I noticed the degas bottle was reddish in color. I completely flush the system and engine block with distilled water ( about 8 times) until I had clear water. I replace the radiator and all the hoses even the heater hoses. I replace the water pump, thermostat ( mishimoto 203°) and used "Riff Raff" billet aluminum thermostat housing and lower inlet. I replace the water pump bolts with new ones from "Riff Raff". I changed the water pump temperature sensor the EBP sensor, EBP tube, CPS and HPOP cover with a "Riff Raff" billet aluminum part. I figured since I was under the hood that I might as well change the oil coolers o-rings which I ordered from "Diesel O-Rings" I filled the radiator with 4 gallons of Triax All Fleet and the rest with distilled water. The radiator was from Ford and the water pump was a Navistar that I order from "Diesel O Rings" The truck is a 2002 F350 4X4 srw super cab and has 150k miles, I'm the second owner. I'm 63 years old in July and plan on keeping it. Next I want to change the upper wiring harness. I learned how to work on mine by following guys like you and Clint from Custom Works. Thanks for the video.
Everywhere I've read said to use MERCON V not MERCON LV. Even the Ford transmission engineer that was involved with developing the 4R100 transmission stated that MERCON LV will destroy this transmission.
@@PowerstrokeBoiz burnouts are good! Burnout transmission, not good, and expensive. I don't know, because I never extensively tested like Ford did. I'm sticking with MERCON V...but hey, that's just me. Hope it works out for ya, bud!
My book calls for 17 quarts, that includes torque converter drained. This is a complete flush every 50K mile interval with heavy hauling. It also recommends driving 20 miles to have warm transmission to have thermo valve open to facilitate draining completely.
I have a upgraded trans cooler and I put 6 3/4 transition fluid in it and it says it’s to much when it’s cold but when it is hot it says it’s the right amount. Should I pay attention to when it’s cold or hot?
I'm about to do this on my ats 4r100 next week.. i had some ocd today and called ats to confirm fluid type, definitely mercon V.. other than that, great video, loved how quick it was.. fluid goes in at the dip stick right???
I’m changing out my valve body to a John woods. Do you think that should change out how much I add? If so how much? I’ll probably just see how much came out and match that?
I just took a sample of my tranny fluid, its black. If all I do is just take the pan off and replace the filter and replace whatever the amount of fluid that comes out during the process is that all I need to do?
