In my opinion, among the best part of the whole film, barring Jason Robards as the villain, the post apocalyptic deserty look of the setting, and of course, the ending. This film deserves to be seen by everyone. It's really cool.
I thought this was a catchy tune, but I couldn't find it anywhere on youtube, or anywhere on the internet for that matter, so I thought, "Hey, if I don't do it, no one will." So here is the ending song to the film A Boy and his Dog. Performed by Tim McIntire.

This is one of the quintessential sci-fi movies, along with Darkstar and THX-1138. For it's time it was so far out there that it took years for it to become appreciated. Unfortunately, this song has become an ear-worm. Still great!

BigBatto Oh man, and here I was thinking I was the only one who knew about Dark Star! But yeah, I agree, All three of these movies are extremely underrated. THX-1138, along with American Graffiti, have been VASTLY overshadowed by Star Wars, which, while still classics and not to be missed, took inspiration from many different sources so much so that it's become more famous than what inspired it. More or less the same thing with happened with Dark Star. Dark Star was John Carpenter's first movie as a director, and yet, it too gets overshadowed by his other movies. Again, classics, but one cannot ignore where one started. For a while, I always thought Assault on Precinct 13 was John Carpenter's first movie. Then I saw Dark Star and was promptly knocked out of my socks. Hopefully hardcore filmgoers such as you and I may shed some light on these movies and point out that even though we know where we are and where we've been, we must never forget where we came from.

I totally agree. This, Dark Star, and THX are quintessential and sadly not very well known today. I would say that Silent Running and Logan's Run go together well with those three as well, making it the quintessential five science fiction films of all time.

I am glad I found another amazing niche movie. At the end, I thought he'd actually shot the dog by mistake & I was like 🥺 I sat up on the edge of the couch at that point & then... PHEW 🥵

So is it the line in this video? It doesnt sound that bad
@spacezoomer
@spacezoomer 7 лет назад
It is. He hated the last line in the movie, not only because it is different from the one in his original story, but because Ellison thought it was in poor taste and misogynistic. This coming from a man who groped Connie Willis's breast at WorldCon 2006.

A Boy And His Dog! Post apocalyptic science fiction film from 1975. Based on a short story by the late Harlan Ellison. Written and directed by L.Q. Jones and starring Don Johnson, Susanne Benton and Jason Robards. With Tim McIntire as the voice of Blood (the dog). The inspiration for the Fallout games!

Why is it so hard to find verified lyrics for this song? I mean, most of it is very clear but, for some reason, I can't make out the word he says at the end of the sentence 1:02 "but a dog knows his boy can __ ___"

The best I can make out is he says "But a dog knows his boy could go wrong." That's how I hear it anyway.

@@spacezoomer Thats the best I can guess as well, and it makes the most sense. But I'm just looking for confirmation.
