It is possible they were lying. Doesn't mean they were doesn't mean they weren't. We've been lied to before like when Dragonite could evolve into Yoshi, yes it was an April Fool's joke, but it was stated as true and most of the time, game magazines don't joke around like that. I'm just saying that not expecting a release of a game then actually having it would have fans going crazy for it.

The internet in general feels like it has contracted from what it was in the early/mid 2000s. So many sites can't keep traffic up now that everybody just recirculates the same garbage on Spybook and Plebbit. It doesn't help that many of these sites had a forum as one of the main draws, and forums seem to have gone the way of the dodo.

I really like the idea of a Zelda game where your "Link" isn't actually the true Link, just someone impersonating the hero with good intentions (probably because the true hero had died), but ultimately failing and revealing that the events of one of the games from the past were caused by him.

That would only work as a tv show, movie, or manga since it wouldn’t really work as a Zelda game. They typically feature an happy ending (bittersweet exceptions include OoT, TP, and Link’s awakening).

Basic game design dictates that doors which serve no purpose can't be interacted with, and doors you will eventually be able to open somehow are interactive with a "locked" message, which naturally leads people to assume you can open a door somehow if you can interact with it but can't open it. Bloodborne had that problem as well, where you can't interact with any doors you can't eventually open or knock on for dialogue, except for one door at the dead end of a path that you can interact with but says it's locked or can't be opened from that side or something. This of course made everyone think it could be opened somehow, but it turns out it was a leftover from earlier in development when you were supposed to be able to open the door but it led to problems, so they cut out the content that was behind it without removing the door's interactivity.

I remember Zelda 3 being teased on the box of the Super Nintendo box when it first came out. This prompted my brother and I to call Toys R Us EVERY WEEK asking if they "had Zelda yet". lIttle did we know that the game wouldn't come out for YEARS, at that point. So most of the people tweeting this guy were probably children. Engh, who am I kidding. They were adults. I just want to believe that they were children.

Nintendo everything saying people who tried to access the 3ds twilight princess page on the eshop would be banned is actually yet another false rumor funnily enough. The game just led to a non-existant eshop page that would just throw an error saying the game doesn't exist. The same thing will happen if you craft a fake eshop QR code and scan it with the 3ds camera app.

there was some decent fan art of a modern times inspired Zelda, where Zelda using a riot shield and a policemans' baton goes searching for Link, over time gaining magic attacks instead of items, but at the beginning focusing on stealth and disguises. Emma Starr That sucks. I was banging on it coming to Switch, because Nintendo wouldn’t just put Joker in Smash to promote a PS4 exclusive. I bought it on PS4, but I still feel like there was a missed opportunity to have it available on Switch. That’s why I’m not buying Royal, because I don’t feel like buying the same game for the exact same console the original was on, only this time there’s more content. Regardless I’m still buying Scramble on Switch whenever it comes out

I remember when BOTW was first announced, there was a lot of speculation that Link would be raised by the Gerudo, because the patterns on his clothing resembled some of the patterns on Ganondorf (specifically his OoT design). I for one still find it an interesting idea, and wouldn't mind seeing it in a mainline Zelda game honestly.

Here's one I made up: In spirit tracks, there's a quest to get dark ore for Linebeck. I was talking to my cousin while I had my AR cartridge in and decided to mess with him. I did a bunch of overcomplicated things like walked through walls, jumped off cliffs in a specific order, and used superjump hacks. I ended it by saying that Linebeck would give you a second dark ore quest, and if you completed it, he would be so overjoyed that he would jump into the river behind his house and turn into a ghost. He'll sell you the best train in the game, "The Ghost Train", which looked awesome and gave you a lot of health. He believed this for two years until he called me and asked me if I was lying. I told the truth and he kinda lost purpose for life.

After seeing the animated fight between Link and Pit from Kid Icarus at 19:04 , it made me realize that Kid Icarus would be the PERFECT franchise to be made into a Netflix series. Beside the fact that it's an IP that Nintendo doesnt hold as dear as Zelda or Mario or even Metroid, which would make KI much more likely to be handed over to another company to be made into a show, the storyline and characters would make for an incredibly cool show. Making a Zelda show would undoubtedly divide a fanbase, but I cant see anything but positive coming from a Kid Icarus show. It would bring more eyes to a Nintendo franchise, excite old fans, and gain new fans. How about someone starting up a petition?

Years ago, I was so annoyed with clickbait blogs posting unsubstantiated rubbish that I created a burner email and sent a fansite my own fake leak to test if they actually scrutinise their stories at all. I included the 50 Shades comment as an obvious flag, but don't recall actually receiving any follow-up scrutinising its validity - and they ran with the article. And after all this time, it comes up again in a Did You Know Gaming? video. This is absolutely brilliant.

I never understood the whole "female link" deal in the first Breath of the Wild trailer. It still looked like Link and he still looked male, just very young looking. To me, Link always had an androgynous look and always thought people claiming that Link was a female in that first trailer was just looking for something that wasn't there.

The biggest reason I never beat skyward sword (after the save data was lost I was on the triforce dungeon) was the wonky motion controls it kept killing me when I fought the past Bokoblins.

I remember quite a few of the rumors for BotW, especially the stuff about it being a TP sequel and having massive dungeons. But im kinda surprised based on this look back, I don't remember a lot of these rumors being given a whole lot of credibility at the time. Like no one really believed them with any conviction and everyone was willing to wait to hear more news, which for BotW was freaking insane, we didn't even know what the title was until 9 months before it came out.
