You are excellent at interviewing, in the sense that you are authentic. It’s like a regular conversation, and you make people feel comfortable by doing that. Congratulations on your success!
No he isn't, he doesn't give a shit and he reaks of that. He's insecure and if you understand psychology and getting people to open up hes pretending to care.
Michelle Thorson I’m sorry you feel that way. I personally enjoy these videos he does. I like the variety of going from his humorous side, to these more serious videos.
Elle is different. Completely different breed of RU-vidrs. She is doing something very few are, especially those in her age range. Her content is so intelligent and interesting yet still relatable and adorable. Her videos always evoke such an emotional reaction from me. I cry while I smile. They’re so feel good and so well made, even when the subject matter is simple, like a first kiss 😍 one of my favorite videos of hers. Her videos make me significantly happier after I watch them, and I feel that is a very rare thing to have. They have helped me on really really bad and dark days. I love Elle. I have such a creative lady boner for her lol 😍😍 love you too Brandon lol
Agreed! Even if he doesn't know him, Trisha could easily get him to come for a chat with Brandon... & Yes, definitely agree, closure/update would be wonderful 😊❤ I hope he's ok...
Some suggestions: A conversation with James Charles about being Lonely A conversation with Corinna Kopf about anxiety A conversation with Dom about legalization of marijuana A conversation with Jake Paul about his future A conversation with Alex Jones about the lizard people
i totally agree that you should not totally rely on passions as a source of happiness, rather the small everyday moments of just being in the present with the people around you are really what you will remember
A Lemon........how Shane was before selling out to Jeffree and Jake for a big payday. They both have loyal fans....but not the caliber you want as friends or family. Shane stay true to yourself. Brandon......please run if you know you’re going to pull punches vs. get an honest interview. You could be the next Dick Cavette......but you must make the promise to put integrity before profit, popularity, lies, instinct, favors.....then refuse an interview before skimping on any. You win win win at life and may lose friends who don’t care about you.
Some seconds, sometimes, we feel it. But we're not always happy, no one is constantly happy. You can feel glad about life and what happens everyday. But you get happy once in a while to confirm you're doing what you want to. You just try to be the best version of you. If I reformulate. We all try to be, some succeed, some fail. But no one is constantly happy as a feeling.
Hey Brandon, just a side note thanks for being deeper on the questions and going under the surface more with your interviews, It really brings a person's true character out and I find and I believe others truly appreciate it more than just the who you are, what do you do etc. thanks dude, keep it up.
I really like what you said about passions not bringing you happiness, and I think people are kind of misunderstanding that feeling- your passions can bring you fulfillment and joy, but at the end of the day that may not bring you true, unfiltered happiness, especially when you’ve made your passion your work. But the little things, the things you can enjoy doing without stress or worry, the things you actively try to make time for, those are the things that typically make you truly happy.
"As you get older, those questions (existential) kind of fade away". As a 33 year old I can tell you that no, no they do not. But we keep going anyway. :)
Brandon is probably one of the realest people on youtube. These videos make me feel so relaxed? I love having deep talks, so listening to these makes me feel like I'm sitting and talking with friends and it's really cathartic in a way, it makes all the people involved in these feel so much more real instead of the entities of themselves they project in front of the camera every week.
A Conversation with Sarah baska (she seems to have difficulty fitting in with the typical youtube crowd and has anxities about it andother things, she's really interesting) !!!
I’m not into the scripted beginning of them being on their phone & acting like they don’t know what’s going on..I liked the natural beginning you started with! Still such an amazing series!
Rachell LeMay I see where ur coming from but I actually enjy the new start - I feel it gives it structure if that makes sense? Bc the rest of the vid is always so free flow I feel it gives a nice mix
ska11table I can see that!! I think I just see “oh the beginning is scripted, the whole thing must be” which I know is not true, but since it starts out that way, my mind immediately makes that assumption if that makes sense lol
The ending always makes me really uncomfortable for some reason 😂 like the abrupt “okay you ready to go?” In a lot of the videos. I think that’s just me though, no one else seems bothered haha
this series brings out a human quality i guess we all knew these youtubers had, but that we’ve never seen before. thank u brandon for taking the time to dig deeper, it’s so captivating to be a ‘fly on the wall’ during these seemingly private conversations. also, since the comments are flooding with them anyway, some suggestions: emma chamberlain (her humor, quick rise to fame, moving to la) jake paul (his future, mental health) alex ernst (his mind, bailey, literally talk about anything for 30 minutes and i’ll watch lol) corinna kopf (anxiety, childhood, life with the vlog squad) shane dawson (his mental health, the making of his docu-series, views of youtube’s growth from an original creator) liza (her recent rise to celebrity, breaking up in the spotlight, how she’s doing) sarah baska (vine, living in la, making friends in a toxic environment) james charles (being a workaholic, growing from scandals, his plans for the future) josh peck (his upcoming fatherhood, his childhood, journey from hollywood to youtube) [edit] thanks again brandon for the constant effort put into your videos
Real happiness is when you are completely and utterly in the present. Just like you said brendan, its when your thoughts stop for split second and you connect with your essential self. The only time anyone can ever reach true happiness is through the present moment. I suggest you read The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle. I assure you, Brendan, you will love it.
brandon talking about happiness and what it is/when it happens is 100% how i interpret happiness definitely my favorite of the series so far. thank you brandon and elle for being so open once again.
brandon describing happiness is so on point! it's the little things in life that we get for free but we take for granted that matters in the long run. money, fame and success might make you happy for a moment. but in order to live a long and healthy life, you need to cherish the people and things that contribute to a real form of happiness that lasts.
I am reading a book called "Big Magic". It is about people who are pursuing creative lifestyles. The author writes extensively about how you should not put pressure on your creativity (aka passion in this video) to be the source of your income or anything that needs to sustain you (happiness in this video's case) because your creativity/passion is not consistent and it is guaranteed that you will learn to hate it if you project an expectation onto it because it only exists for you to enjoy when it is present. Your creativity/passion is never at the same "level" as it will be tomorrow. I highly recommend the book!
Profound you two! Happiness and pain come and go and the reasons change daily. The next day that guy on the weird instrument could irritate you so bad you have to run to get away. Meditation helps gazillions...they call it Prayer, dance, singing, exercise, painting, sculpting, yoga, reading, clogging, editing, filming,......i think we need to find the place we connect with spirit/god/peace.....then do it an hour a day....we will see we have more control over our reactions than we knew. Every group of people creates it, makes it community participation.....because it helps.
Out of all these videos this is the most authentic. Elle has been really listening to everything you’re saying and the conversation has been so natural. It doesn’t feel like she’s forcing anything. I love it. This is the best one so far.
Goddamnit Brandon. I LOVE these videos. I haven't seen anything else like this. It's beautiful that you're able to capture a real conversation with a camera.
I love that Brandon keeps the conversation appropriate for the person to feel comfortable enough to talk and doesn't push or make someone feel some type of negative way. I love this series so much and I appreciate it beyond belief.
This is def one of the best car conversations bc Elle, like Brandon, knows how to carry a conversation sooooo well and have it run so smoothly!!!! They’re all so goooooood I love these
Honestly I never comment on videos but I just need to say, Brandon, this series in incredible. You really have a way with words and people. You are so empathetic and that really helps people open up the way they do here. I can't wait to watch this grow and get the recognition it deserves. THIS is real content people. No clickbait, no fake drama, just real people and real stories. So refreshing. Thank you.
I just discovered these videos and find them to be incredibly refreshing. The medium of having a conversation in a car gives it a casual atmosphere that lets peoples guard down and it is incredibly engaging to watch, please keep this up!
I love Elle mills style of editing - but was really good to see her just raw and unedited. Still such a good soul- happy to see a fellow Canadian making a name for herself in the RU-vid world 💕
Best quote that’s helped me, “Happiness is not a destination.” We’re not meant to be happy all the time, and we sometimes have to choose our pain. Do I want this pain in life, or this pain? Happiness comes in between the pain or suffering, and when you can accept that it’s ok to not be happy all the time, life will become much easier for you. Accept your faults, accept your fears and accept the lulls in life. Sometimes our passions in life make us feel pain and it’s how we learn and grow as people. I highly suggest everyone read The subtle art of not giving a fuck. It’s helped me see my life so differently and as someone who’s suffered with depression almost my whole life, that’s a hard thing to accomplish.
This is the genuine, raw content RU-vid desperately need to have more of. Thank you for sharing this and thank you to Elle for being so brave and opening up like that. Also, I wanna add that I agree with the gazillions of comments under the videos in this series requesting A Conversation vid with Alex Ernst!! I’d love to see you pick his brains out a little bit!
I can relate with your Moment in Santa Monica. I had that last week when I was driving somewhere and the weather was just perfect. I love autumn, the sun was shining, but it wasn't too hot and the leaves had so many beautiful colours. I listened to my favorite music and was just driving. It was so peaceful and I was so happy because of this moment. It didn't have anything to do with materialistic things or overall stuff you can get to make you happy, just like you said.
still waiting on a convo with Alex!!! But I was just thinking about who else I’d like to see on here... I’m hella curious what you’d talk about with Dom lmao it’d be a fun one I think... I also think if you’re down to do it I think it’d be interesting to hear what Emma chamberlain has to say about 1)gaining so quickly 2)adjusting to this platform and 3)figuring out how to address the “controversies” she’s been accused of (I personally would think it’s just a case of her not knowing her impact/being unprepared to deal with it) .... I also think talking to other ex viners like Danny Gonzalez, Drew Gooden or Cody Ko etc would be a cool idea! You share a similar path with them and I think yall could cover getting your content stolen constantly, adjusting to the new platform, how yall think some people made an easier transition to YT than others.... but to be real I’ve watched every “conversation” you’ve had even if I don’t watch that person because you’re very interesting to listen to and I love the way you engage with people you’re interviewing🤗
Completely agree with Brandon on happiness. Happiness is fleeting and it’s not an activity or an event that brings it..it comes when we least expect and when we are being our raw authentic selves.
I think this was a very important conversation for teenagers to hear. Life isn't always amazing. Social media is rough on kids. People don't post stuff that shows them sad, because who wants to look at said posts? They only show the little blimps of happiness in creator's lives. This shows how there are dips where people aren't so happy. But you can persevere through your struggles! Thank you for sharing this video!
I think most people feel the same way. In their work, in their relationships, it brings you happiness and sometimes nightmares !!! I think it's part of life ! We ALL have to deal with it. And I would say : it's NEVER too late to have skills !! You are so young, both of you !! (And both of you can entertain a bunch of people, that's a skill !)
I've been going through a shitty time, and this video actually really helped me with my outlook on things. It really reflected how I feel alot of the time and gave a really interesting original perspective on happiness. I needed this so thank you! :))
Thanks Brandon! I just love Elle. She’s so real and raw and it’s so amazing to watch. She’s also clearly very intelligent and I enjoy watching her speak on different issues
happiness= balance, it's passions/hobbies+ self love+ good company+ diverse experiences, so difficult to control our own balance but once we do- our entire perspective of the world changes.
Brandon I love love love these videos! Thank you to you and all your participants !! You are all amazing to open up and share these realities with us!!
you are right brandon. Your moment on the pier with your GF is exactly what i experience when my husband and i are in the morticians or on a road trip. like those moments are pure peace and happiness because nothing else matters in those few moments. i have a couple off the top of my head, 1 when my husband and i drove up to pikes peek in Colorado and we were at the very top just looking down the mountain and we weren't talking or thinking we were just being. Or when we were on our friends boat at the very front watching whales swim by as the boat was stopped and no one was talking, we were just sitting there watching these whales breach the water and it was like we weren't even there. It was such a crazy experience and those are the moments everyone needs to realize or try to when it's happening. I think people think that happiness needs to be this burst of energy or outrageous moments, but it's sometimes in the silence of it all that you find what it really means.
brandon, wow! I am always amazed by theses videos ur putting out.. i can see how genuine u are and how u can have an actual conversation with . people while trying to help people with there problems and most youtubers dont have this intellengence like u do. i am so happy for the success u have and i hope it continues for a long time.
Brandon your content is something I never knew I needed but now I’m so pleased to have it. Not meant to add more pressure, but I just greatly appreciate the work you are doing and I think you are amazing.
Everyone can relate to this. Work and school is super draining. I cant even comprehend the amount of exhaustion I would feel having these kinds of expectations.
