Your kids are begging for a toy they saw on RU-vid. They can tell you every cool thing it does and how amazing it will be to play with it. But what you REALLY need to know is if you're going to have to don battle gear to get it out of the box, how many hours you'll have to dedicate to setting it up, and if the thing ever shuts up.
Enter: How Much Will I Hate This? Honest Mom Reviews of the stuff your kid is begging for. I'm going to give you the answers you actually need.

This is the reviews all parents actually need. I love the concept absolutely hate the magic ball thing, so much plastic waste because let's be honest it is going to landfill. After the initial 'birthing' of the toy it is no longer part of the play process. And if your kid needs a night light you will already have one that doesn't take up half of the bedside table.
@skully6223
@skully6223 Год назад
Agree...was totally thinking that there was more to the ball than giving birth to a talking stuffed animal...I mean, after that happens it's practically a useless hunk of plastic. There needs to be more "magical" stuff that happens with that ball--especially given the cost. Glad I didn't buy my nephew one (realize it's a 'girls' toy, or kinda geared towards chick's, but in our family these kinds of things are genderless!) I'd have been pissed to know I paid an insane amount of money for huge plastic & a talking stuffed animal!!! Happy holidays!

I know that with the old magic mixies cauldron, people were saying they would have reused it as a kid and made their own potions over and over again with stuff around the house but I guess with this one it is a little more difficult to reuse like that

I like the idea of having parents create extra hype and magic around the toy. The child will likely end up more attached to it because of the complicated unboxing experience and build up of anticipation. What if the company allowed parents to buy other stuffies without the magic ball and reset the process with a new toy? Then it can have repeated uses if you have multiple children. You break it out at birthday parties and christmas for a couple of years. Would also be a smart way for the company to remain a hit toy for years to come.

Funnily enough, children also judge toys the same way you do. They just do it silently. I'm not a parent and I'm no longer a child but not too long ago I WAS a child. While opening toys, I remember making mental notes like "mmm this feels like cheap plastic. Gotta be careful with this one" and "oh the instructions say I have to close the thing before I turn it off. Does it break if I don't? What if the thing isn't closed all the way when I turn it off? *spends 15min troubleshooting all the ways that mechanism could go wrong* Well, can't have this toy around friends then. They'll break it immediately". I remember hating when LPS changed from magnets to pegs because I could tell it was just a ploy to make the toys cheaper to produce (me at 8 making commentary on the flaws in our capitalistic society lol). It also made them less cool because I couldn't stick them to magnetic surfaces. Children CAN TELL the difference in quality between toys. As a former child I can also say that even CHILDREN hate it when toys don't have an off button. No matter how much I liked it, I was bound to want it to shut up at some point. And if there wasn't an off switch, I would literally just take the batteries out (one of the reasons I learned how to use a screw driver at like age 6 🤣🤣). Also children do in fact hate the demonic amount of zip ties and metal wires that some companies stick to things. Not because it takes longer to open but because it actually increased the odds of us getting hurt. Not because we were using scissors but because we WEREN'T (because we knew we were too small to use them properly (or we weren't allowed)). If a toy was made so a child couldn't open it themselves (talking like normal toys, not things with very small parts or dangerous pieces) then it felt patronizing. Me and my brother's especially hated it because those kinds of metal wires and things could cause our MOM to get hurt while trying to open the toy for us. Then all we'd wanna do is curb stomp the toy for hurting our mother. Also how can I be able to open an entire box of legos and dump it on the floor at age 6 and it not be seen as a safety hazard but not be able to get an 8in tall toy dinosaur off of piece of cardboard??? Like make it make sense. Also I'm not even kidding, I was able to tell if I was going to like a toy based on the quality of the plastic. Like anything with cheap plastic isn't made for kids to actually play with, it's just for parents to buy and children to break 3 days later. I say that as a kid who BARELY broke any toys. Kids are much more insightful than people give them credit for. Anyway this toy honestly looks fun lol. If there was a way to reuse the base part to do more magic-y things (or to just redo the magical summoning ceremony) then I might've wanted one. But as a child I knew that entire thing (referring to the cauldron one that came before this) was essentially glittery trash used to house a stuffed animal that I wasn't even sure I'd like. But I'm pleasantly surprised with everything. Like I for sure thought it would be worse.

I honestly thought I was the only kid being judgmental about cheap feeling toys. Except, I’d take it a step further and be wracked with gut wrenching guilt for feeling that way about a toy my parents were kind enough to buy for me-especially if it was expensive. It made me feel incredibly selfish, entitled, guilty, and ungrateful. Yeah, I probably still have some issues to work out in therapy.

This seems like a 'Im finding something to tell me kids they cant have it.' especially since moose toys takes out a page on almost every single product they offer and actually discusses these issues that you're presenting. The only smoke alarm it will set off is one that is a particle detector. Traditionally most aren't. I do question how enclosed and close was your friend to this censor? The 'smoke' is vegetable glycerin... a vape puts off more than the magic mixie. VG they use is certified and tested by child toxicologists and multiple health authorities. Again, all addressed in their product letter to parents. You absolutely can switch it to another mode, but you have to manually remove your toy by following the steps for emptying the toy and it may take away from some of the magic that the kid makes with opening the toy, but if you feel it needs to be done that way it can be.
@ayajade6683
@ayajade6683 Год назад
@@MetalJellyfish it was her neighbor's apartment where the toy got used not hers but it still set off the ENTIRE building's fire alarm. Secondly even fire departments have tested it on the most used smoke detectors available it sets them all off especially if they're also a CO2 combo one like most are and posted videos on the topic. There's no need to be little miss um actually on something that is a heads up as people live in apartments and can inconvenience neighbors by setting off the smoke detectors for the entire building or have to factor in asthma attack risks before they waste a lot of money on an expensive toy just to read the corporate liability pamphlet that only exists to cover their ass from a lawsuit. My money is on you deleting your comment after this reply anyways.

I got one for my 7 year old for her birthday last month. She loved opening it, doing the “spells” and asks its questions all the time. My son who is 2.5 has thrown that plastic globe so many times, taking it on and off and it hasn’t broken yet. None of the parts have and he is ROUGH with it. FYI…If the globe is off and you turn the toy on, it will make that dinging sound until the globe is back on.

In that review, the stuffed toy's feet were attached to the thing it raises up on by twist ties or something, so if anyone has problems removing the toy, check for that. Love you, Gwenna! I don't have kids...was maybe planning on buying this for a family member, but I have to say that I'd have been pissed to know I spent close to $85-90 bucks for a talking stuffed animal and some smoke in a plastic globe that lasts 2 mins. Granted I get kids will think it's cool, & that's the point, but honestly, it's only "magical" for that tiny bit of time & then it's useless! Would've been more impressed if there were more opportunities for smoke & "magic"! Thanks for the review (& if the kids want it bad enough, I'm a big ol' softie so my complainin' a$$ will probably still be buying it!)

Not gonna lie but these things were HOT last Christmas and there was actually a limit of how many a customer could buy. People travelled long distances just to find one when we had some stock in. Now they aren’t flying off the shelf as much.

I saw with the cauldron one there was a box with and you could reset and do it over and over again using the box to hide a treat and they do it again. they even sold refillable fog packs too unless they got rid of them idk

What’s the story about the doll? I see a doll with multi colored hair next to the other toys. I like your reviews. You actually answer the questions most parents want to know. Good Job Gwanna.

Love this review! I agree with your analysis but theorize Tag of $69 seems like a lot for what ends up being a small talking stuffed animal.

Not a parent, but my chosen brother has a niece and nephew that I intend to spoil religiously once we're in the same city, so this is helpful.

My niece got the cauldron version last Christmas. I have no clue where the mixie is, but she still plays with the wand and cauldron.
