A Dane in New York | a travelog from the Big 🍎 - part II

If you're reading this after having watched part I of the NYC travelog, I thank you. Part II isn't only about Brooklyn but also Manhattan (again), yet Brooklyn played a major part in what I cherish from the trip. I can only recommend that you go there if you visit New York City (next time, I'm considering the other three boroughs - Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island) - but also more areas in Manhattan. (Harlem, for instance, though I did visit it the second time). And in Brooklyn.
There were so many wonderful moments that week - some of which are documented in parts I and II - and if you haven't already visited New York, I hope you will (if you wish to, of course). What Samuel Johnson said about London in 1777 - "If a man is tired of London, he is tired of life" - surely applies to New York as well. And what Hans Christian Andersen said, applies, too: "At rejse er at leve" = To travel is to live (or is it, Traveling is living?) Hugs, H.

I was missing your posts so much and was thinking of you today. When I opened my laptop, there you were :-) Thanks so much for the two wonderful videos and the tour of NYC. Javier and I were there in 2019 for the Rock N Roll hall of fame and we stayed in Brooklyn to be near by. Although busy, the Brooklyn Bridge is and was a wonderful walk as is walking along the promendade in Brookly Heights. Just wow, you are the best tour guide and thank you so very much for letting us go along. Happy Spring !

So lovely to see/hear from you Marcus 😍 Yes, I have rather taken a knitting detour here, but you are certainly not forgotten. I find I enjoy making different kinds of videos and so far will try to find time to ‘document’ bits from my Danish life, travel, and knitting. Definitely also want to visit Chicago some day!❣️ Hope you’re well. Love, Helle

I love your knitting RU-vids. I am a New Yorker. You did an excellent job showing off our City. I thought the videos of Hasidim wearing the Shtreimels was cool and wondered if you were there on Saturday, Shabbat or maybe on a day during Passover when it might be worn. The only place you may have missed is Chinatown. It is another place where signs are not in English and feels like another world. Very close to the Brooklyn Bridge! Thanks for your wonderful "voice".

Beautifully done ode to NYC, indeed you "did it justice," to quote yourself. It was a treat to be a tourist in my hometown - in this offering I even spotted one of my former apartment buildings😊. Yes, I do feel fortunate to live where I do but sometimes we need reminders that we are indeed fortunate. It isn't perfect but nothing is except perhaps a circle. I think you are fortunate to live where you do! Thanks again for the tour.

So glad you had a good trip to NYC! It was wonderful to see it from your perspective, having lived in America and also in Europe. I'm glad you made it to Brooklyn General -- that is the must yarn shop for me in the city. I haven't gone into the city since the pandemic started due to health issues, but my husband takes the train to Grand Central for work, so he's (and I also am) quite familiar with Grand Central -- I love that place alone, much less everything else about the city. I'm looking forward to seeing what you purchased at Brooklyn General. You went to NYC at the perfect time -- all the beautiful cherry and magnolia trees!!!

Another wonderful trip around New York. The city views from the Empire State were amazing, though like you I would have been more than a little nervous of the height. I have travelled very little as an adult, partly because of financial constraints but also my poor health makes me worry about leaving the UK. I am grateful for travel vlogs such as yours which give a different insight to the many travel tv programmes, though I like my tv travel too.

Omg! Dude! Why didn’t you tell me you all were coming to the states? New York no less! I’m essentially in DC though my address reads Maryland. I would have taken the train into the city to meet you in person and share a drink of some sort and a short visit. I don’t drink coffee so maybe coffee or tea for you and a sinful, ice-cold Coke for me. No Diet Coke here! If I’m going to drink it give me all the sugar. 😛😳 All of this of course if your family would have supported it. It would have been a privilege to meet your partner and your lovely daughter. It looks like you guys truly enjoyed your visit. 🥰🇺🇸 Gotta LOVE a huge bookstore! Not many left anymore now that the internet rules. I have such an appreciation and interest in the Hasidic Jewish way of life. So cool you got to experience it! I shall do the same at some point. Your daughter is lucky to have parents that offer her such a broad experience of the world! 3 Musketeers! YUM! One of my mother’s favorites! I hope you made it home safely!
