Love this video. Was feeling bad for about two months, tightness in my abdomen, and swelling in my midsection. Did not know what it was, and ended up going to the ER. They let me know it was fatty liver. They gave me some paperwork but nothing really in depth. I watched this video as I got home and wanted to educate myself. So far its been about two weeks, and I have gotten rid of all sugars (I use stevia now). I either skip breakfast or have a green smoothie of spinach and half a banana with avocado. For lunch I have a salad, and for dinner I have a salad with a small portion of white meat, either fish or chicken breast. At first it doesnt feel like anything is happening. But after about two weeks of doing this I woke up and my swelling is less and pain is subsiding. Thank you for this video!

Thank you for the meal ideas. I just found out yesterday. I have a fatty liver, moderate. Hence why I’m here. I’m scared, I’m not gonna lie. I’m 53 minus is due to sugar and terrible diet. I do know how to eat, well, and I do love vegetables, fish, and lean meats. But I also Love dessert. I love ice cream, cookies, I love cranberries, anything with brown sugar and butter. I look at people that are overweight and happy and aren’t even concerned about their health. I am overweight by about 30 pounds, I am smack in the middle of menopause which doesn’t help a damn thing. I am frustrated and worried and upset. Please help with any other ideas, meals or to lessen the worry. I hear it is very common, but it’s different when it’s your own health. Thank you

I gave up sugar and alcohol. I reduced the my carbs drastically and no longer snack. I’m on a 16/8 intermittent fasting regimen. I had always lifted weights but couldn’t lose the love handles, double chin, pot belly, man boobs, and fatty back. In 100 days, I lost 40 lbs. There were other benefits but the weight loss was the most dramatic. I’ll never go back to my old habits. I had several ailments that magically went away with the new diet and eating habits. My best advice to anyone wanting to lose weight ; just give up sugar, read ALL labels on food, and start walking. There’s NO WAY you won’t lose weight.

I've been diagnosed with fatty liver disease: I had gotten my labs under control with pravastatin, vascepa, and running 6-10 miles per week and going to the gym to swim and lift. I suddenly developed muscle aches after years on the pravastatin and was switched to 10 mg of Zetia. My latest labs showed slightly elevated ALT but normal AST. Ultrasound confirmed still had fatty liver but doc said Zetia can elevate that enzyme. He recommended milk thistle supplement, less cardio and more strength training and Mediterranean diet. I added intermittent fasting, 17/7 up to 21/3 since early August and really upped my game in the gym to every other day and sometimes 5 days per week. I go for labs next week and am hoping to see improvement.

Best video on the subject! I was just diagnosed with fatty liver while an image was taken of my stomach--happy accident. I was shocked. My liver enzymes, and all my other blood work, have remained nearly the same for 40 years--all normal. I am 62, 6 foot tall, and 200 pounds. I am active, may have a glass of wine or one beer per month, and I take no meds. I eat mostly fish and other healthy foods. I very rarely have sweets, butter, or sugar, etc.--and then in very small amounts. I have complained of chronic fatigue for nearly 20 years, though. Perhaps, my FLD is the culprit. I am a bit afraid, but I will follow the good doctor's plan.

I was diagnosed with NAFLD about 2 years ago. Surprisingly to me, all my Dr. told me to do at the time was not to drink alcohol which I was only drinking 1 mixed drink per week on average. On my on, I increased eating fish and chicken and cut out red meat almost completely. I was surprised my Dr.at the time did not put me on a diet of some kind. I am soon to be 78 y/o and maybe that's the reason for the lack of aggression on my medical team's part. I really enjoyed your video and will take your advice especially on exercise as I only do yard work and could probably do more. Thanks again.

I think the heptology departments need some introspection - at least mine does. He is not helpful and does not read my messages or test results. He is judgmental and simply does not care. After this last test is completed I'm going to deal with my PCP on this and not any more heptology departments. His judgmental assumptions completely destroy his ability to help me to a positive resolution. Ona video conference his colleagues set up, he almost attacked me saying that I had requested a meeting an why had I done that. The during the meeting I asked him about internet fasting, and he said, ,"for me?'". I had to explain to him that I was not asking about his diet but was asking his opinion about the effects of intermittent fasting on my liver....I think your guy is similar to mine. Iam 60 and i always enjoyed a healthy active lifestyle. As a result of some old injuries I had sciatica and my primary care Dr. sent me to pain management Dr. and he put me on oxycodone 30mg three times per day and a cortisone shot every three months. After doing this for three years I felt like my brain was in a fog and overall health declining. I had a back surgery and so far I'm pain free with no meds. However my blood work results revealed a fatty liver, high blood pressure, low potassium, high cholesterol. I have all the things you mentioned: the little spots, the edema, intense leg cramps, and now i got a foot drop issue where my toes catch and i trip, or my foot makes a flapping noise when i walk. I hardly drink alcohol. I am working on eating better (Ben & Jerrys ice cream is my kryptonite) I think I need to be more aggressive and do a strong fast and detox. What is a program you recommend?

I had very high liver enzyme counts, and the onset of FLD. The doctor did a sonogram of my liver and said if the numbers rose anymore, they wanted to biopsy it… that was enough for me. I quickly went into a very healthy diet and cut down on sugars, soda, high saturated fats-fast food, alcohol, Tylenol (yes acetaminophen is a huge factor). I no longer drink milk (that took away sinus infections also - I used to get 3 or 4 a year.. no more). This worked quickly for me. I also drink lots of water, especially lemon water and I also took Milk Thistle. I’m happy to help with questions or share my knowledge if anyone needs it

My husband is on hormone therapy after prostate removal. His enzymes levels were elevated three months ago and then lowered somewhat when he retook the blood test a couple of weeks later. A sonogram showed some fatty liver disease. In the past two months we drastically improved our diets, and he has lost a few pounds (he was only slightly above perfect weight before). Tomorrow he has blood work done again.should we see a notable difference at this point?

@@drrajsree I'm not just talking without any science behind what I'm saying. Dr Richard Johnson of the University of Colorado has proven the effects of fructose on the liver, among other organs. His team posted a paper about the effects of fructose in nature how animals in nature use fructose to help with weight gain, water storage and increase in hypoxia. You can read about it in his paper titled "Fructose metabolism as a common evolutionary pathway of survival associated with climate change, food shortage and droughts". He pretty much explains the evolutionary role of fructose, and if you are open minded enough to read it, you will understand obesity better than 99 percent of other doctors, no kidding.

When I went to the doctor for something else I mentioned a pain I got from under my right rib cage across to the left side and then what felt like a heart attack. I told her it was like the Loch Ness monster doing a death roll (cramp) when I put on shoes that I had to tie. I got it for years and other doctors let it go in one ear and out the other. This new doctor told me what she thought it was and sent me for an ultra sound. I didn't wait for the test results to change my diet. I can't afford the various diets . But I can avoid the foods I shouldn't have and prepare the various foods on the can have list to my liking. I have cut out all sugar, most of the carbs (a slice of toasted sour dough bread once a week keeps me from cheating more) I have changed my oils to EVO, I still use mayonnaise but either with olive oil or avocado oil. I use Stevia in place of sugar. My favorite drink now is lemonade with Stevia. I have a very large green salad (spring mix) with tomato, green onion and avocado with lemon juice and lt. olive oil as the dressing of choice nightly. I will be sad when artichokes are out of season because I have one 3-4 nights a week. I also IF. I went back to see my doctor 3 weeks later and had lost 8 lbs. I told her what I was doing and the additional B-12, zinc and calcium I was taking and she just told me to keep up the good work. She didn't even advise me to do anything differently. To date I have lost 15 lbs. This is 5 weeks after the first visit. I was always tired. Doing nothing was a monumental task. I have a fitness watch and I thought at one point doing 400 steps a day I was lucky. My cardiologist just frowned. My nephrologist had the same response. I am a 75 yr old woman and the past 7 days I have been able to rearranged my living room. (extremely heavy furniture) and cut a 30 ft. tree down from my back yard (by myself) and dragged it to the front of my house for pick up. I do about 6000 steps a day. I live in a senior neighborhood. Everyone was shocked I was able to do that because most are 10+ years younger than me and said they couldn't have. And I know they couldn't. They all want to be able to do what I can do now. They know I have been feeling poorly for the better part of 5 years. I'm looking forward to seeing how much better I will feel as I have some painting to do. This is the first time I have been optimistic in years. I was just waiting out my years left. Diet makes a big difference.

Oatmeal is a grain so it definitely spikes blood sugars and insulin levels. Soy milk if unsweetened will have less of a sugar/ insulin response. Coffee is fine in fatty liver just be careful if added sugars or creamers.
