As a lifelong die hard 49ers fan, all the triumphs and heart breaks, that '90 NFC Championship was the hardest, most crushing loss. Props to Parcells, he out coached everybody, and I've always had so much respect for him !
I totally agree with you. I'm also a lifelong 49er fan and that 90 NFC Championship game took a long time to get over. Hell I'm still not over it. Parcells and his Giants were worthy adversaries in our era of dominance. Niner faithful till the end. Go 49ers!
@@marvinclay4476Agreed from a lifelong Redskins fan Always rated Purcells and the Giants teams he coached were awesome Won some, lost some but that 86 team defense was a match for the 85 Bears to my mind Awesome documentary
Giants and the Niners what a rivalry nobody played Niners as well as the Giants back then 85,86,and 90 With big blue winning. 90 of course with the help of Craig's fumble. If not for the Giants Niners probably have 3 or 4 more titles. Hell even the 2011 NFC CHAMPIONSHIP was a war thank you Kyle Williams. Niners are still great Giants have to get their act together. We been bad for to long.
For all his great skills as a head coach, I mostly remember Parcells for the masterful way he handled the NY media, the toughest in the country , if not the world.
@@LDuca, he’s better than Belichick. Parcells took two different franchises to the Super Bowl. Parcells took three different franchises to the Conference Championship Game. And keep in mind that what Parcells accomplished with the Patriots was done while he was feuding with the Patriots’ front office. And lastly, Parcells was never fired from a coaching position.
Superbowl 25 Giants defeat the bills. The single best coaching job I've ever seen in 45 years of watching football lead by Parcells but also with Belichek. Just phenomenal. We love Bill forever around these parts
Love your comment. But I’d like to include the NFC Championship Game. The previous week the Giants went into Candlestick Park and played a punishing game of football to beat the 49ers. Those two weeks were incredible. I like Belichick . . . but I’ll take Bill Parcells any day.
@@byrongammonbyrongammon9937 January 20th 1991. I’ll never forget that NFC Championship game. The 49ers were the odds on favorite to win their third straight Super Bowl even before the season started, they were that good and I didn’t think anyone would stop them. This was Joe Montana at the peak of his powers, he had just won his second consecutive NFL MVP, two of the greatest seasons ever for a quarterback. But Parcells came prepared and laid out the perfect gameplan, beating the juggernaut of the NFL with a backup quarterback. Parcells was the real deal
As the author of the definative bio on Wal*Mart founder Sam Walton, he told me that was his motivation, take out Sears and it was the thrill of fight that kept him going even after being the richest man in America. Parcells seems to be the same way as a coach ect.
I love the line about how they were the best teachers. Man, can you imagine Lombardi for geometry and Parcells for chemistry? Boy oh boy, I'd be the best prepared student ever . . .
THE MAN IN THE GLASS by Peter Dale Wimbrow, Sr. When you get all you want in your struggle for self And the world makes you king for a day Just go to the mirror and look at yourself And see what that man has to say. For it isn't your father, or mother, or wife Whose judgement upon you must pass The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the one staring back from the glass. He's the fellow to please - never mind all the rest For he's with you clear to the end And you've past your most dangerous test If the guy in the glass is your friend. You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years And get pats on the back as you pass But your final reward will be heartache and tears If you cheated the man in the glass.
The big Tuna was one of the greatest coaches ever in NFL history, he was tough when he had to be that's what I love about Parcells, we need a guy like this back in the NFL, he said it like it was.
Parcells is the stereotypical "Jersey guy." He's loud, brash, in your face, doesn't take shit from anyone, and is nobody to mess with. Parcells was also a great football coach. The Giants was a perfect for Parcells.
I swear Bon Jovi is the biggest football BAND-WAGONER of all celebrities, one year he's a Giants fan, the next he's a Patriots fan, WTF?........and he drinks beer from cans.
Birds fan and I've never respected or envied another team's coach as much as this man. Especially with him coaching our biggest rivalryl(Dumb ass Dallas is just a hatred). We used to kick the shit out of him and his team nearly every year. He'd come to the Vet and hear the business from the stands like no other. He always kept his head high and and smiled. He respected the Eagles and the fans just as much. Class act always. One of the greatest ever.
Swear when I started reading this statement that this has to be a Philly fan. But I don’t mean it in a bad way, it’s because you Philly fans tell it like it is without sugar coating it.
Easy..........Parcells is my favorite coach but his skill at selecting players was dubious. He wanted to trade Pepper Johnson in 1990 in order to draft LB Darion Conner......bad move. Pepper was a 1st Team All-Pro. He didn't like the selection of Dave Meggett....called him a midget.......but he was am integral member of the 1990 Championship team. With the Patriots he wanted to draft DE Cedric Jones instead of WR Terry Glenn. With the Cowboys he wanted to draft DE Marcus Spears over HOF LB DeMarcus Ware.
To me, the 1990 NFC Championship is still the greatest win in team history. What a masterpiece..Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott on the road with Hostetler...my God I have chills just thinking about it.
Amen. The 1990 NFC CG was a masterpiece. It was a work of art. The craft of both playing and coaching football was on display and it was amazing. Pre-free agency......it was beautiful.
The guy in the glass... When I was younger I had to go to AA meetings with my mom and stepdad and I heard that same poem but it was the man in the mirror!
I still am hurt by Tuna leaving Dallas because he really started molding those guys into his kind of team. Tough gritty overachieving power running teams and if Romo had had Bill for longer I Trully believe the Cowboys would have gotten at least one SB in that time.
He gets 3-4 more years, with 3-4 more drafts, and they have at least 1 superbowl if not 2. He was building a powerhouse, which is why we ended up having some really good seasons in 2007/2009. But after he left in 2006, our drafts went to shit. Just look them up. It's why we ended up not having another winning season in 2014 until jerry finally took a step back from his overwhelming input on player personnel and we drafted some lineman
The patriots have a dynasty under Belichick, why would current pats fans, even be pondering what could've been,if Parcels stayed, obviously he stays maybe Belichick is in NY with the jets,The best thing that could've happened, did happen
yeah i remember when Belichick wanted out from NY JETS . JETS traded Belichick to Pats for a 1st round pick. you never hear teams trading head coaches for draft picks and getting a 1st round pick for it
King Saul was the first king of the Hebrews but everyone remembers David. We may have had other coaches here in NY - but Coach Parcells will always belong to Big Blue and we love him. If Parcells had had a QB like Phil with the Jets well....We'd be talking about the ONLY coach who EVER took TWO different teams from the same city to a Super Bowl. And possibly WON with BOTH. Can you imagine? You'd never see a Lombardi highlight again.....
I'm still mad the Giants did not give Parcells more control. The man was a Giants legend and a true Jersey Guy. If you're not from Jersey, you just don't know
Bill Parcells is one of my favorites. Totally different from a Dick Vermeil or Marty Schottenheimer but nonetheless I adored how he carried himself and I attempt to emulate some of his characteristics in myself. Also, you don’t get a Bill Belichick without Bill Parcells.
42: 47 - 42:58 You'll be alright. You know why? Because I ain't gonna let you fail, I promise. I hear those words in my head daily and so far, I have not "failed" and I am a better man. So Coach Parcells is right and today is another day.
Not gonna go too deep, but I liked Parcells when he was with the Giants. I am a die hard Cowboys fand for over 45 years and when he went to Dallas, I said now we might have a chance to win.
Anthony G Warfield knows how to use that knack of Coaching psychology. To get results but also to get his players to play hard and play to win and focus.. Stop being like teenager's.. Then he even straightens his coaching staff out from time to time. Go upside their heads too... Everybody gotta listen to THE HEAD COACH!!? because win or lose Head coach gets credit either way.... If ur team goes 3 and 13 they look at the Head coach If you 13 and 3 the head coach gets looked at too.. Just look at bill bellicheck they wanna study his brain after he dies too see what makes it win.. :)
he had the Cowboys on the brink, The year of the Romo field goal fumble fiasco that team had gotten hot at the right time. they were much better than their record
An 80 Year Old Bill Parcells would still be a way better coach than the last few clowns the Giants have had and I say this as an Eagles fan disheartened by how bad the Rivalry between the Eagles and the Giants have fallen off🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿
Alright this is the last time. Ok I swear it’s the last time. Just one more drink. This is the last time fellas seriously. Ok one more round and that’s it. - Bill Parcells
I'd put that '86 defensive squad up against that '85 Bears squad any goddamn day. There's a reason the 86 defense was a one year wonder, and you can credit Bill Walsh for picking that shit apart. 🙂
2:15 must've been uncomfortable for Larry Allen sitting next to the Guy who's the main reason why he left the Dallas Cowboys for the San Francisco 49ers
Zach Crutcher Sports Highlights omg I just watched this earlier and the volume was fine. now I clicked on to read ur comment and the volume is really really really low and impossible to hear.
Zach Crutcher Sports Highlights And its only this video. All of your other ones work fine and all other RU-vid videos work fine. only this one has an issue where I can only hear it through headphones.
