Mike .. You have the vision but mostly, you have the drive to do the WORK ... anything looking good means there was hard work involved but ..... then comes the reward of having a beautiful yard / garden forever -- to see , live in , enjoy and dream of life !! Just beautiful .....
I can’t take my eyes off your garden of Eden!!!! You have all the elements I want in my garden!! You make me want to get up and get at it even in the Texas heat. lol I’m in love with your garden!
Really enjoying your commentary a lot! The whys behind the garden are as important, if not more important, than the what’s. You are helping us to think of how to get to the garden we envision in our minds, that’s a rare feat on RU-vid.
Very inspiring! Thank you. I have over two acres and I am petrified of making “mistakes”, so I have a veggie garden and a few flowerbeds after 11 years. 😳 I’m working on working myself up to creating the garden I want. Your garden is amazing!
I love love your garden!! Very inspirational! Your creativity makes me smile!! Very comforting to watch too! Thank you for sharing your garden with us! Please keep them coming.
Your different spaces are all so lovely! Your have an amazing creative talent of putting plants together. I love just listening to the water and seeing the yard. It is so calming and beautiful!! Keep the videos coming.
So beautiful amazing how you’ve placed so many plants & trees in just the right place. I have an acre & I’m having trouble trying to decide where to put 5 plants. 🤷♀️
I was scrolling through RU-vid looking for garden tours and I stumbled across your RU-vid channel. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was amazed at your beautiful garden. I was mesmerized by the beauty of your design and the layout of the garden. I didn’t wanted to end so I re-watched it again a second time. I can’t wait for your next video to upload. Please continue filming, I love tuning in.

I can see an old anchor or pelicans added to that area or maybe a captains wheel..if you get a chance check out Tryon palace gardens in new bern NC and Beaufort NC for the maritime aspects! Love the knowledge of how you used all the water run off to create stream and a watering source.a mushy yard to a such a beautiful peaceful place! Thank you for sharing!
I'm up I'm up! I'm going outside to at least trim up my crape Myrtle trees before the construction workers start their day next to me. I am so inspired by you. I hope and will build me a bridge, pond and dry creek bed. Please keep the videos & inspiration coming.Love your channel!!!

New subscriber.. Incredible garden… your comments are valuable in understanding the whys & how’s… you must be to gardening what Picasso is to painting! What an imagination you have. We just bought a house with a tiny yard & my wife is trying to figure out what to do… to create beauty. A 7 yr. old garden that looks like this??? Wowza! You should be a landscape designer professionally!
Mike you need a Flame thrower redbud!!! It would be so gorgeous with fall colors all summer! I bought 2 and next year hopefully I’ll see some more color.
This is absolutely stunning and so inspiring. We moved from Stilwell, Ks to Florida a couple of years ago and i desperately miss kansas. Your garden looks so serene and the textures and colors meld so perfectly together.
Your rectangle stones remind me of the stones you see in the old Roman road sections you can see in some countries. I like your design aesthetic, very nice
We have a koi pond also ! Love it and would like to have a creek, but the snakes and the wild egrets love it too. We had to net our pond bc of snakes and the birds ate all the koi
Mike I love that you were able to create such a gorgeous low-maintenance area - that is what I aim for as well - put in work up front and then let it take care of itself! Also, you talk a lot about not pruning on certain plants and letting the take their natural shape to assist in your vision. I have a dappled willow as well. It grows like a beast and yet is so ephemeral. This is the first year that I haven't pruned it into a ball - maybe I will later but right now I just can't bring myself to do it - it's so gorgeous all on it's own! Love the blue evergreen on your 'coral reef' - what is the name again?
Thank you so much for sharing your garden with us, it is do inspiring! I am growing my garden from nothing, little bits at a time each year, and I can't wait for the vision to come together. It's so exciting and very rewarding to see it all grow and to watch what you invisioned come to life. Happy gardening!
Your backyard is amazing love ! Love! Your designs it’s truly a master piece I’m new to your channel am so happy I found you can you show your Front yard design I would love to see it Thank You for the inspiration.
Yeah I do 30 gardens at memorial Park in New Kensington Pennsylvania I I have all kinds of everything there and those garden so just so beautiful I just have been doing 18 to 20 years now and I just keep on going 71 now so it's getting a little harder but I love it keeps me busy everyday so I love watching your shows okay talk to you later thank you bye
Love exploring the detail in your garden! Thanks for sharing. I love he way the yellowy shrubs in the back glow with the Iris. I'm looking for a chartreuse colored shrub as a companion to my dwarf purple smokebush. Any suggestions??
Great video again. I’m in the process of creating an new area on one side of my yard (about the size of yours), so perfect timing. You clearly have vision but aren’t you concerned that at least some of those evergreens in the new berm will get too much water?
Hi Kathleen. I'm not worried because that are is lifted a good foot off the ground. So I hope I am in great shape!! Thank for the question and thank you for watching.
I'm in Alabama so we have Redbuds growing wild. Always the first to bloom in spring..Japanese Maple are my favorite..They have so much character to me.. You got a new subscriber..lol..Have a wonderful summer!!
I am right down the street from you. I live in Olathe. You have a good eye and vision. Would love to hear where you get your stuff locally. Happily subed and look forward to more videos.
That's great to hear Mike!! I do most my shopping at Suburban Lawn and Landscape, and the more exotic shrubs and trees come from Family Tree Nursery. Smaller perennials i grab from Walmart, Home Depot and Lowe's.
I sure did. I covered this in another video. Basically a family in Olathe had tour his old deck down and posted on Craigslist that he wanted it gone. I grab the trailer and hauled it home. And that old deck is now my shed.
Mike, you have the right mindset! Age should never dictate your maturity when it comes to expressing your creativity! I am going to Google Frankie Boy' since I think my garden needs one, but I don't know if he's hardy in zone 5a! ~Margie
You have created a lovely garden. Clearly you are a gardener in love. I just got a puppy, how have you managed to ensure the dogs don't eat any of the poisonous plants. I understand even day Lily's are poisonous for dogs. I am thinking when pup grows, she will stop thinking she needs to eat everything -- much like babies. Any input?
Bonide dog and cat repellent. I use to soak rags in this stuff and place on a wire around garden beds. Now our dogs won't go into beds at all. Thank you.
1st, You have a beautiful eye! How do you like the stones underneath your seating area? Do the chairs rock and sink into the stone? I was thinking on doing something similar.
Thank you. This was just a temporary fix until I find what I want for a permanent fix. The seating is easy to adjust as of now and really is a fun little area.
Can you share your resource for the large rectangular stepping stones!? Oh, nevermind lol you just mentioned that. I typed this before you talked about them. Where did you find your black lace elderberry?
May I ask how you lay these tree trunks near to the Moon Door? Just put them directly on the dirt? Also, do I need to put any premier on them? Because rain cause wood rot usually.
Great question! Actually the wood that you speak of are old used railroad ties. So they already have a treatment but I don't recommend using brand-new ties because they are so toxic. These are decades old. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.
