Another after work session down Southbourne beach in perfect conditions produced a lovely chunky bass, a real surprise catch for Liam and ending with a new PB fish. Doesn't get much better than that!

Brilliant stuff as always even the last two vids we learn something and enthusiasm is infectious. Agree when the sun is setting and a beach looks like that, why be anywhere else. Thankyou
Thanks mate. They're pretty new to us around here, so I'm enjoying bumping into the odd one or two. Although I hope they don't all dig in like an anchor!
Great vid congrats on the pb💪🏽 Gary allner does fantastic work he just did a tip repair on my eclisseo stunning job I’ll be sending my nuvolo 9 for a rebuild very soon😊
Hey Tom, Great video and as always lots of tips and tricks to help us newbies learn. As an aging (38 year old) retired infantry soldier my back is absolutely knackered and your bait station looks like just the thing I need. I had a look on your shop site and see it’s the stonfo bait tray but I can’t seem to decipher what tripod/attachments you are using. Could you drop us a link, will hopefully get to southbourne at some point in the year and pop by the shop. TIA, James
Hi mate. It is indeed the stonfo bait station. I use it conjunction with the Preston Pro Tripod... christchurchanglingcentre.co.uk/accessories/bait_stations/preston-pro-tripod-en/ And a Korum QR adapter... christchurchanglingcentre.co.uk/accessories/bait_stations/korum-qr-adaptor-en/
Some lovely fish there - well done Tom 😊 I caught 4 Snapper over on the South Island west coast beaches (Karamea) last weekend 😊 Be great to have a fish together next time you're in NZ ....
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 - Looking like I might be in England in August, pandemic permitting...... and would love to take you up on your kind offer of a fish together (to be reciprocated in NZ at a later date ofcourse !)
Great video. As always. When makung those videos, could you start adding a map with exact pin point location as well please? It would really help noobs like me. Thank you very much indeed. Looking forward to the next video... J
Awesome session, enjoyable but envious video! ! , could I ask what casting weight does your “ blue distance” rod have Many thanks in advance - go steady
A codling from southbourne!! Thats like winning the lottery! Well done sir . Great too see that bass and that thornback . Its going to be hard to top this video on your next trip. My one question is by distance rod are you just casting as far as you can ? Or to the far side off a sand Bank or gully you have located?
A bit of both really, my distance rod is usually cast as far as I can, but this is to make sure I'm over the top of the sand bar. The other rod is fished in the gulley inside the sand bar.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 thanks I will try that on my next session , and if it works you will be first to know .. still can't belive the other lad caught a codling!!!
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 thank you and look forward to watching your next trip , you would do well to do better !! Possibly the bream might turn up early
Hey mate, brilliant , informative video, newish subscriber here, what is the bait tray and stand that you use??? I’ve seen the stonfo tray , but not the stand. Tight lines mate.
Lovely bass, almost certainly a female and not far off spawning. Not sure why it was dispatched. We all have choices to make but to be honest I was disappointed.
I live in an area where there are thousands upon thousands of bass, you can catch string fulls on mackerel feathers, they're are by no means at risk. I love eating fish and catching fish like this is one of the most sustainable ways you'll ever find to feed yourself. It's a single fish out of millions.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Always good to hear the other side of the story. I had no idea that bass were so prolific in your neck of the woods. Perhaps I need to start visiting your part of the coast more often. I have just retired so I have more options now. I will have to pay a visit to your tackle shop and take a few hints ! My bass tally is pretty poor and I am recovering from knee surgery so gently sloping beaches are ideal at the moment. Do you rate the beaches around Hengistbury Head ? My first job was helping to build the timber groynes there in the early 80’s. PS I am not a zealot and do take bass myself. Rarely these days and usually when they are deep hooked and beyond saving. Regards and tight lines, Kevin
We're lucky here as we're surrounded by bass nursery areas like Poole Harbour, Christchurch Harbour, Beaulieu river etc, so bass are abundant (to the extent that many blame them for the decline in other species such as flounder, they are an apex predator after all!). I do sometimes forget myself that this isn't the case in other parts of the country! I would love to have seen the beach back when those groynes were built, it must be so different to how it is now! Hengistbury is a wonderful venue as it offers so much diversity, from rough ground for wrasee, congers etc to clean ground for flatties (and everything else really!), then around the corner we have great bass fishing with either bait or lures, you may recognise Mudeford run in our Summer Bassing video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NKedwM-I1c8.html). It would be great to see you in the shop one day, we're always happy to give out information on where, when and how to fish.
