Norm Macdonald is undoubtedly one of the greatest comedians to ever walk the face of the planet. He is my absolute favorite comedian for so many reasons I couldn't list them all if I tried. A few reasons that stand out are his absolutely masterful comedic timing and delivery, his intelligent and carefully-crafted observations, and his ability to be honest in a world full of deception. Norm Macdonald is undoubtedly a comedian's comedian. He was known in the mainstream for being on Billy Madison and Saturday Night Live, but aside from that his stand up and late night appearances really solidified why his comedic voice stood out from the rest. Louis C.K described Norm Macdonald as the closest comedian to Mark Twain because of his voice, and ability. Another thing I absolutely adored about Norm's comedy was the simplicity of his style. He would deliver things that everyone has observed before, but he'd do it in a humble manner that would catch you off-guard and make you laugh endlessly. There are often comedians that can be grouped together for a certain genre or style, but for Norm there is simply no comedian like him. He was truly an enigma because of his comedic voice, and there will never be another person like him. Norm left behind a legacy that no fan will ever forget. He's been an inspiration to many seasoned comedians and also young comedians like myself. I aspire to one day be able to do something similar to what this amazing man did on stage. The world of stand-up comedy is a slightly darker place without Norm Macdonald. I hope you guys enjoyed this tribute video. God Bless Norm Macdonald, may he rest in peace.
"It's one thing to make people laugh, it's another to make people smile."
- Norm Macdonald

It sucks because you’ll never see anything like that for the ESPYS ever again. With all of the social justice garbage and attacks on language you will never see another comedian, especially someone like Norm, host another ESPYS again. Now it’s just boring, woke crap where these people all kiss each other’s butts and and talk about social justice issues and take literally all of the fun out of the show because they can’t shut up about their activism for two seconds. In fact, they would have probably canceled Norm for some of those jokes. Just sad.

"You know man, it was tragic... at the time." "What???! 44 is a ripe old age for a crocodile hunter." He was the all-time master of timing. He would state the most completely obvious truths about something very traumatic; find a silver lining somewhere and make you cry laughing just by talking about it. I totally remember my first Norm experience. Who remembers when Comedy Central was called the Comedy Channel and it was just short clips like 5 minutes of different comics at different clubs everywhere? It was 1990 or 91, I was 12 years old and Norm came on and did a bit about Satan convincing him to chop up his family and stuff them into duffel bags. And Satan turns out to be his neighbor or friend, Bob with a mask on. Anybody remember that? I can't find it. I think it's the best bit to this day. It was dark but fricken hilarious 😂 "It's me...(takes off mask) Bob!!!"

The Goat. To able able to take a unfunny, 10 second, 2 sentence joke, and than add 2 or 3 minutes of non comedy filler after the set up so when the silly punchline lands you realize the joke was on you is so amazing and hilarious. Nobody else can or will ever be able to do that. Norm didn't just tell jokes, he showed you that everything is a joke and to not take things so serious. This lesson makes life so much better, and maybe that's just from my perspective, but I hope many people have learned this and live happier lives because of Norm.

I feel the sadness too but I'm an introvert and understand not liking the parties etc. I don't know why he didn't want a relationship after his divorce but from 50 on he was hiding his illness except for family/manager and maybe being on meds and getting treatments, made him lonely. It's hard which is why he'd hint at his illness in some interviews. Hearing some people joke about his bloat (which seems very obvious from meds) must have been hard at times. You want to hide it but then you think, "How little do they care, how little do they really see me?"

Very rarely do I ever get sad when a celebrity dies. When I heard that Norm Macdonald died, I was very sad and it affected me far more than it probably should have. I went to see Norm live on a few occasions when he came to town. For one of his visits, I purchased my tickets online to the small venue which only held around 250 or so people. When I ordered the ticket for myself, I wrote a comment on my order explaining that I realized that there was no specific seating arrangement within the venue and they just seat people as people arrive. I stated that I was going through a horrible divorce, was in a bad way, and it would mean the world to me if they might be able to seat me somewhere closer to the front. I also said that I fully understood if my request could not be met. Well, when I showed up that night, there was a line of people in front of me being brought in by the ushers. When they looked at my ticket, they asked me to just stand off to the side while they let a few groups go in front. The man who set me aside just said for me to follow him and he brought me to a small table right beside the stage; and no one else was seated with me. When Norm Macdonald entered after the first few comics finished their sets, he stopped at my table, shook my hand, and said “Have a good night man, I hope you enjoy the show” and then he patted me on the back. Norm did well over two hours and the staff turned the house lights on while he was still performing!! On his way out, he shook my hand again, but didn’t say anything. I’ll never know if it was set up for me to be so close and to have my own table; not if they told Norm about what I had said. But I have a difficult time believing it was all just a coincidence. The world lost an amazing man when Norm passed. He touched a lot of people in a way that only Norm could; which is much different than Michael Jackson’s way of touching people…

Norm and john Stewart had a great dynamic it's interesting to see how norm plays into the lefty talk show host in john Stewart and the righty with dennis miller, same with a letterman vs someone like fallon, he just knows his audience so perfectly

I forget which comic was telling this story about Norm, but he said that they’d do these series of like 6 or 7 sets. He said that norm would maybe kill for 3 or 4 shows, and the rest he would bomb. He went on to explain that when norm killed, he’d go to the back of the club and play poker and bet and generally hold court. But when he bombed, he went and stood by the exit to say goodnight to the entire crowd as they filed out one by one 😂😂😂😂😂😂
