THANK YOU Josh, for enlightening a difficult game to follow. "Highlights" footage others posted was poorly edited, but your coverage clearly showed the good & bad in Sunday's game.. Amusing how all the pundits got on the "Brock Is Best Express" last week, and which ones crawfished their praise after this game. // Many QBs dislike a glove, but I'd agree with you, that with slippery ball conditions that shot the ball out of his grip, might be better to wear a glove. [Probably more than water on the ball from sitting on the turf.] // Wth McCaffrey & Deabo out, OUR TEAM only lost by 2 points from some missed opportunities. Keep the faith, fans! GO 49ers!

Thanks for your positive message in this video, Josh! I agree that this wasn't a disaster, and didn't "expose" X, Y, or Z about the Niners. This is still clearly one of the best teams in the NFL. This game came down to one play at several moments in the game (not just the last missed field goal), and in a lot of alternative endings, the Niners would have come away with a narrow win, and the narrative would have been completely reversed (showed resilience, can win multiple ways, can make a game winning drive with 1 min to go, etc). Either way, this is a chance to learn and get better. The losses of Deebo and CMC are worse than the L, especially given that there are no more undefeated teams to chase for playoff seeding.

Excellent breakdown as always, Josh. The 9ers missed numerous opportunities. Brock was off, Aiyuk was off. Moody missed 2 kicks. Mccaffrey, Deebo, and Trent were banged up. And we still almost managed to win against the #1 defense. Going forward, we should be just fine. Can't wait for next week's game and breakdown!

Thank you Edmond. You make excellent points. The 49ers will be a "tough out" all season long. They have big goals, and this game will be an excellent reminder for them not to leave anything to chance.

Thank you again for the great film review. Always, reviewing lost game is painful. This loss was nothing but the accumulation of every single mistake, bad play, poor decision, and etc. But I am sure we can bounce back. One thing that unexpected was, I thought Purdy was used to play under bad weather because he played 4 years at Iowa. Probably we should have come to Cleveland earlier and practiced in the rain, instead of practicing more at Santa Clara and coming the day before. Although Purdy has tons of experience in college, the coach should acknowledge that he is still very young, and make sure he is better prepared when he needs to play in new environment next time. (such as rain, wind, cold, etc.)
@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 10 месяцев назад
An excellent idea. We will have to see if the 49ers make any changes to their practice habits going forward. Brock might have more "cold weather" experience than rain experience, although I don't know for sure. On the positive side I am confident the 49ers will sharpen their focus this week and eliminate many of those mistakes, and I think that will be more than sufficient to win against the Vikings. Eliminate just two or even one of the mistakes against the Browns, and the 49ers are the ones who win that game. As always, thank you for your support 🙏🙏

Great analysis as usual, thanks from the UK. Why dont we challenge more often, there are so many cameras that we can easily see if there is a mistake by the officials so surely the 49ers team could do the same.
@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 10 месяцев назад
The rules about challenging restrict what we are allowed to challenge and when. Despite having clearly defined rules, many penalties are considered "judgement calls" by the officials and are not reviewable, such as pass interference, illegal contact, personal fouls etc. Things that are reviewable tend to be more black & white, such as whether someone had both feet down in bounds, whether a pass was tipped, the spot of the ball between each play etc. One of the things that is considered a "judgement call" however is whether a team is delaying the game; the playclock is not official. And anything that occurs within the final 2:00 of each half (or at any point in overtime) cannot be challenged by either team: in those situations only an offial reviewing the game can initiate a challenge, usually from a central hub in New York that monitors each game live.

This was a tough video to watch. I watch all of your videos, but this was definitely like watching the Titanic. I appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos and I'll always watch them, but D*** it, WE HAD THIS GAME and let it get away! I dont mind losing, it happens, but losing because of incompitence is inexcusable. At 3:21 game time we showed the lack of confidence that Kyle has for CmCs backups. If CmC was in the game there is NO WAY we throw that ball. Devistating game to watch. I don't expect them to win every game, but they will lose a playoff if this isnt cleaned up. Cleveland is a playoff Defense and an average Offense. We left 17 to 21 points on the field. If we do that in Philly in January, the 9ers will be watching the SB next to me on the couch. They are passionate, they will clean it up. Excellent breakdown as usual. I truly hope the right people see your stuff so you can get the exposure you truly deserve! Go NINERS! Q46 Edit: I shouldn't have said incompetence. It was inexplicable. I believe kyle is competent, but his play call at that time was head-scratching to say the least. Im not sure if anyone asked him what he was thinking after the game. I'd be curious to know.

I felt a "perfect storm" had evolved re: Jake Moody's attempt. 1, he missed an earlier kick for the first time this year. 2, the weather conditions were nasty. 3, Cleveland's kicker made his attempt a few minutes earlier. And 4, 100% of everyone's attention was on this rooky, with a 6 game winning streak on the line. I agree with Josh, I hated the 3 pass calls near the end of the game, especially with a downhill runner like Mason on the bench. And last, Purdy was clutch on the last drive, and faced strong pressure all game,.

I knew in my gut that this game felt like a trap and I said so in last friday's show. But I under estimated one thing, the Browns game plan from the start was to break every rule and dare the officials to call every hold, chip, and interference penalty. And it worked! Yes, they got plenty of calls but it threw the 49ers out of sync. And despite PJ Walker's poor play, he made some key throws at the right time. That, and the sloppy field and wind, was enough. Oh well, if I know anything about these 9ers, they are going to take it out on the Vikings next Monday Night. Be ready for a track meet!

All comments brought up just about all the mistakes, officials, Kyle’s play calling at closing out games. One point not brought up was that this is a out of conference loss. Which will not factor into tie breakers until the fourth or fifth option (I did not look it up). The driving factor fans should be focused on is the Super Bowl. NO ONE remembers who won MVP (inset year here). EVERYONE remembers who won the Super Bowl (inset year here)! As always Josh great breakdown. Look forward to the Friday show.

Thanks Josh for another great break down. Tuff to lose when it’s that close of a game but that’s why we should have been up by more and would have been without the mistakes. Don’t want to forget to thank Mrs Josh too. I said it when we decided to go into the season with a rookie kicker, he would cost this team 1 or 2 games and we can live with that as long as he learns and doesn’t miss in the playoffs. It’s not time to give up on the kid for missing the winner. This was a total team loss and even though he could have rescued the team from all the mistakes they made to that point, he is not the only reason we lost the game. He has been great and I think he will learn from this and get better. It was a rainy day with guys slipping and windy and don’t forget their kicker also missed. We should have tried to get as many yards as possible to make it as easy as possible for Moody’s kick and I feel like Kyle eased up once he thought we were close enough and he was wrong. All in all the niners are ok and still in the drivers seat so time to get back to work for the next game.

@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 10 месяцев назад
As always Jeff, thank you for your support. We will have to see if indeed the rain is a persistent issue for Brock. Hopefully not 🤞🤞 The thing that bothers me the most about the Thanksgiving game is that Thursday games are inherently unpredictable and also disadvantage the road team. All teams have to do it, so that's fair, but this year the 49ers got hit with TWO Thursday night games (vs the Giants and at Seattle). As a team that finished in the Top 4 last season, the 49ers by rule are given a tougher schedule in accordance with where they finished. But this is brutal. In addition to that playing a team twice within 3 weeks also makes it much tougher to win the second game. I consider the 3 game stretch of Thanksgiving at Seattle, at Philadelphia and then home against Seattle the most difficult 3 game stretch of our entire season. It will be a tall order but just like the stretch of at Cleveland, at Minnesota, and Home against Cincinnati, it is essential the 49ers win two of those three games.

5 - 1 to forget. Put this game deep in the forget file for me. Frustrated from our second drive on. Our offensive line got their butts kicked. Even Trent had mistakes and unfortunately an injury. But once again, excellent break down Josh. Answered some questions and the other angles you show really help. Really appreciate all the effort, 1943......how?! How does he do it?? Lol As far as the kick, cant even blame the weather. I watched the flags on the posts and they were still. He's a rook, high pressure, previous miss might have effected confidence, I dont know, seems like he just missed it. Raiders iced him twice in preseason, effectively. Dont know if that plays a factor? That was the gut punch of this game though. All the crap and we still got into a really good spot to win the game, and whiffed. Would have preferred a straight beat down to that. I really like Brock's final drive though, he put the whole game out of memory and did his job. That was my positivity for the week. Oh and Josh's Breakdown Video of course 😉.

Thank you Scott. It will be interesting to see how the O-Line plays in a hostile environment next week. And Jake Moody as well. He's under the microscope now, but kicking indoors fortunately. I am confident the team will sharpen, and I know Jake knows how to deal with pressure because he kicked in a lot of big games and big situations at Michigan. Hopefully we can just chalk this up to a learning experience.

Is that 3 or 4 games in a row now that a defensive player has yanked or twisted CMC down by his facemask? At this point it seems like it's undeniably targeting now.

Right, its not like the Browns were without Top 2 in the league running back, all pro guard, pro bowl right tackle & starting quarterback...🤔🤔🤔 It wasn't Cleveland's defense causing the mistakes or a 3rd string QB beating a stellar defense... It was just mental mistakes by the 49ers...🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽
@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 10 месяцев назад
I don't know if I agree with that. The Browns D Line played outstanding. All those pressures I showed at the end of the game were the result of an outstanding pass rush. They practically lived in the 49ers backfield. And some of those holding calls were generated by defensive lineman getting great jumps at the snap. Both offenses were sloppy, and as you point out, both offenses were missing key players. The 49ers Defense also played excellent, but as stated PJ Walker had experience playing the 49ers Defense last year. He did not play well in this game, and credit goes to the San Francisco defense for that. But at the same time, we also have to give the Browns credit for their defensive performance as well. Cleveland is obviously not a team to be trifled with. That Defense is LEGIT (#1 in the League), especially at the Defensive Line position group. Their offense has a lot of problems, and part of those problems are related to the absence of Chubb, Watson etc. Nevertheless, eliminate even just a single mistake by this 49ers team, and it's San Francisco walking out of Cleveland with a win. The 49ers are still the best current team in the NFL, and the Browns have a way to go. However I would argue they are probably a lot closer than people think. Look for the Browns to be major players in the AFC if they can get their offense on track.
@henrybiggs3113
@henrybiggs3113 10 месяцев назад
@@JoshBreakdowns / I agree with everything except the elimination of mistakes for SF would've had them the win... The field goal @ the end wouldn't have even decided the game had Njoku TD screen not been taken off the board on a hold call that was questionable... Also a field goal was missed.... 7pts were gifted to SF offense by an ill advised errant int by Walker... No doubt if the Browns had started Walker instead of DTR, they would've walked away with a victory in Baltimore... All their scoring came from having short field possession gifted by the Brown's 3 and outs & Int's... & if the Steeler's Micah don't target Chubb below the knee while he being tackled by a defensive lineman, the Browns were handling them towards a win... So they also could very well be 5 - 0 themselves, even with Watson playing a little above average... He can be average & the Browns still have a shot to win with this defense... But make no mistake about it, just as much as the Browns has the personnel to have a great defense, Schwartz has a scheme that causes Shanahan problems... It's like Mike Tyson against Evander Holyfield, Schwartz just has Shanahan's number, but the 49ers are still the Mike Tyson of the league this year... Only one other defense could probably cause the disruption of SF's offense like the Browns did & that would be the Jets... I don't think the Browns exposed how to minimize SF's offense.... But I do think they exposed how to run against that SF defense, which is stout in it's own right...💯💯💯

Know it’s early in the season and they had to drop one eventually, but this was a really poor showing from the 49ers; after Dallas I kept thinking this could be a trap game, especially with Cleveland coming off a bye week, and low and behold the Niners seemed disinterested, they looked nothing like the team that thrashed the Cowboys the week before, even with the missed FG at the end this really didn’t feel like a game they deserved to win; if there is an upside maybe it’ll be their individual approach to each game, no matter who the opponent, moving forward this season…sloppy play like this in the playoffs would end their season prematurely
