Thanks man! I have doing some updates to the Scoria and will be putting some Scoria videos out later this week. 1 shows how I fixed the ghost pedalling, and the rest is all the upgrades I made to this bike.

After riding many bikes I’ve learned that not all torque sensors are created equal. I don’t particularly care for how Mokwheel has implemented their torque sensor. It’s not just Mokwheel, several companies that use rear hub drives that have gone to cheap torque sensors have similar issues. There are some good one’s, though. I’ve also been reading about a lot of torque sensor failures in these lesser expensive hub drive bikes. I prefer torque sensors but cadence might be better long term as they’re simpler and easier to replace if they go bad.

I agree. This acts more like a cadence sensor hybrid. I have a couple torque sensors I love and work exactly as expected.

I just recently got the Mokwheel Besalt. It cost me $2020.00 after tax and that included assembly. It was delivered to me the first week of August. I didn't even ride it for about a month. Besides riding it to inspect it during the delivery drop off. But, now I ride it everyday and I love it. I only had the options of the grey or blue. I liked them both though and went with the grey. I wish I had a more range of colors to choose from though. But, overall since I've been riding it, I absolutely love it! I more so ride on the sidewalks though because I'm on main roads and I only use the throttle when I need it. I stay in 2 or 3 PAS. I work 3 miles down the road and normally get rides from a friend that lives in the same neighborhood. So, I've only had to ride it 2 or 3 times a week. Therefore, I've only had to charge the battery once. Which I'm not far from work. I have alot to learn. But, I love my front basket and side view mirrors. I didn't even realize it had brake lights until a few days ago...lol. But, after some adjusting to the head light, I realized they're pretty bright. I'm only 5'6. So I wish i would of got the Scoria and paid a little more. The besalt st has the step through, but u still have to get up on that seat, so I believe the regular besalt was the best option. Honestly, I didn't even look or shop around. I just seen the Mokwheel add and ordered the one I got and I have no regrets. Now, I'm trying to run mine through mud and beach sand. I want to take care of it and make it last as long as I can. Like I said, I literally only ride it to work and back home. Its daylight to work and dark on the way home from. So, I'm still learning it. But definitely falling in love with it. My next thing I'm ordering is the rear basket. So, so far I'd definitely recommend it. 😊

not a fan of the wood color baskets, was thinking of painting the front one, the rear is covered with a bag so no issue there.
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 8 месяцев назад
If you order the front/rear basket set, the front one will not be wood. I had ordered the front basket (they have one seperatetly) then wanted a rear basket but it comes with its own front basket that doesn't have wood with it.

This is a really great review. I really like this bike, and I love what you have done with it. It looks absolutely fantastic. What do you think the throttle only range would be on this having the 19.6ah battery? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 4 месяца назад
Hmmmm... That's a good question but I don't know. There would be a lot of things to take into account. Weather, terrain, weight of the rider, additional weight if carrying items. Things like that. I would feel comfortable saying you could get 20 miles out of it throttle only.
@theblowupdollsmusic
@theblowupdollsmusic 4 месяца назад
@@scotthardesty That sounds sensible. It seems most of the 14ah batteries get around 15miles throttle only, so 20 miles makes sense on a 19.4ah battery. Thank you for your time.

Hi, thank you for your great review and tips like ghostpaddeling. I have a problem with my Scoria. If i ride more than 20kmh it is not possible to ride hands free. The bike handlebars start to wobble. Do you have also the problem? Thank you and besz regards, Pascal
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 3 месяца назад
Yes, I definintely have this problem but every utility bike I have reviewed has the "death wobble."

Can let us know what kick stand you will change to , I ordered a Mockwheel scoria December 7 and want to change kick stand thanks
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 8 месяцев назад
Sure can. I just did a bunch of upgrades to this bike (video coming out soon) but the first thing I did was switch my kickstand to this. Fits perfectly. tinyurl.com/53tt7mu5
@phooboy1
@phooboy1 5 месяцев назад
What? Mokwheel incresead the top speed from 28 mph to 32 mph? Other than the smaller fat-tires, I don't see a lot of differnce between my Basalt ST and the Scoria, akthough I wish I had the dual kickstand.
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 5 месяцев назад
No. I can't get the Scoria up to 32 mph unless I am going down a hill. The gearing is the same as the Basalt ST. Funny, I don't like the dual kickstand.
@phooboy1
@phooboy1 5 месяцев назад
I saw that you were able to adjust it up to 32 mph on the touch panel. Maybe you're right about the dual kickstand.

Does it really ride like a mid drive, or an ebike with a torque sensor?
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 5 месяцев назад
It does not ride like a mid drive (it is not one) and the torque sensor is not the best torque sensor I have reviewed, but for some reason, this is go to Utility bike now.

Did you have to unwrap the front cabling and separate the front brake cable to install the front basket? I think I need to do that because I lost turning radius on the left after installed it and figured that might help but don't want to risk damaging the brake cable. Also, how did you secure the front brake light cable under the basket? Mine just hangs there and I can't figure out a good way to secure it. Thanks.
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 9 месяцев назад
Kind of. I just unbolted the front brake lever and removed it so I could work with it. Took a bit to rework it but did it just as the instructions showed me. For the light cable, I removed the wood panel on the front rack, zip tied the cable to the bottom, then reinstalled the wood panel. Works perfect.

If you keep the bike under 15 mph you will get close to 60 miles per charge

Yup! Speed, PAS levels, riders weight, terrain, all come into play when it comes to mileage. I like to run it as fast as I can for as long as I can. I am also 220lbs, another 15lbs in camera equipment. Hill climbing and all that stuff. Thanks for letting us know how far you can in best case scenarios.

Question. How does the torque sensor compare to the torque sensor on the Aventon Aventure 2? Aventon mastered the torque sensor on the aventure 2 and I compare all others to it. Recently got the Rattan Quercus with torque sesnsor and it rides like a cadence sensor and I was highly disappointed.
@scotthardesty
@scotthardesty 10 месяцев назад
I have to say that the torque sensor on this Mokwheel is not as good as the torque sensor on the Aventure 2. Considering I own them both, I also compare other torque sensors to the one on the Aventure 2 as well.
@Jhubble515
@Jhubble515 10 месяцев назад
@@scotthardesty On the Sinch 2. Is Aventon using the same torque sensor on it? I'm hoping the Sinch 3 comes out with 750 watt motor (would be great if 1000 watt), hydraulic brakes, and at least a 48v20ah (52v30ah prefered) battery. On my Aventure 2 I pedal 95% of the time and ride in Tour Mode 6 to 8 gear and get at least 60 miles and have 13 to 20% of battery left.
