Early morning and late evening are Jitter Time!! I have a dozen of them and they are my go to for dawn and dusk when top water conditions are right. More fun than anything else while clothed!
I've made a couple Jitterbugs. I cut some brass sheet and hammered it to a cup shape for the lip, then stamped the names of the recipients in the brass. However, your all wood design has, hand over fist, way more wow factor! Too cool!!!
A classic! For me, this is the lure that got me hooked. The lure I got my first fish on a lure with. In May, I made my first Jitterbug (carved it as a beetle and covered the back shell/wings with glitter so it’s now a Glitterbug). Was excited to take it out and… it sunk. Sort of happy to see even a veteran bait builder like you has the same frustrations occasionally.
I haven't been fishing in over 30 years and probably have no intention to do so again, so why do I get so _"Ooooo, a new SolarBaits"_ video? 😄 You have an obvious talent and produce some incredible creations, oh, and your lures aren't half-bad, either! 😂
Make a jitterbug life jacket for the first lure, something in an orange May West style should work. :) Always glad to help ! That lure is too nice to use. It needs to be in a display case.
Nice build 👌 let's us know if you caught anything 👍 Please can I ask, when you apply the top coat epoxy do you let the first coat fully cure before applying the second coat? I heard you should never do that because it can cause problems down the line with separating 💁🏻 I was told to apply the second coat before the 1st coat has cured? Any thoughts please
I also enjoy building lures, but on a skill scale from one to a hundred, you are 100 and I am 5. However, when it happens to me that they don't float, that line from Kurt Cobain always comes to mind and I hum it like this: "If it floats then it is not A bait like we had thought". Smile a bit and try to find a way to correct. Nice work Mikko.
I challenge you too as I challenged Marling Baits, to make the soft vibes lure, it's the Zerek Fish trap 65 mm, if any of you make it then I will believe you're the best bait makers in the world.
Olisit lyönyt pistepuikolla kerran tuohon mahalenkin cup washeriin, ennen ruuvaamista, olisi tullut silmää miellyttävä kuoppa silmäruuville. Nyt tuo lenkki jää, omaan silmääni, turhan ylös. Muutoin kyllä hieno viehe ja video!
The action is stupendous. I laughed out loud during several parts of this one. DANGEROUssssss. For the wood body that sank, would adding balsa plugs to it counter the sinking nature of the wood?
@@SolarfallBaits I tried it with some black cherry wood that sank on me. It helped but in the end I needed way more balsa than what I added. The Cherry overpowered it and I had to scrap the project.
Good for collection but fail to the plastic one. Wood is more heavy than plastic & it will lead to the light action like it is showed at the end of this video.
You are right but the wood you use is heavy for sure. By the way, if you use all the mentioned light woods, I do not thinks the mouth of the lure is strong enough.
@@minhadventures that's why I used the harder wood for the lip part. The original is made from stainless steel btw and weights very close to my wooden one.
