Good to see you return to discuss your reading progress. I've got The Victorians on my tbr pile so I may get to it soon. Your book haul was interesting. When you do start reading The Crucible (I've both read it and seen a production of the play), I recommend you seek out a copy of The Devil in Massachusetts by Marion L. Starkey. It is a classic history of the Salem Witch Trials that I thoroughly enjoyed. While it was written in1949, it has been republished since then and has not been surpassed.

I will keep a lookout for a copy! Thank you!

Most reading right now has been done via my new Kindle. I just finished Victor Lasalle's The Changeling, which I really liked. I started Knights Templar: A Captivating Guide to a Powerful Catholic Military Order and Their Impact on the Crusades by; Captivating History, and I started Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin. I've been dipping into Dombey and Son by Dickens via physical book, as well.

I am so happy to find your channel being a literature student myself. I'd like to see your views on Poe's works.

Thank you for stopping by! I have read some of Poe, and I'd love to make a video about my thoughts on his works. Thank you for the suggestion!

Good to see you Micah! I saw your chat with Steve where you were explaining why you had been away and I applaud you getting out and enjoying life, especially at your age, you can always read later 😉 Thanks for the recommendation of the A.N. Wilson books, can I ask what first got you into reading about Victoria and that period?
@MicahCummins

Thank you, Jo! ☺️ I’m really not quite sure if it was any singular event that made me interested in Victoria and the her era so much as simply reading Julia Baird’s biography of her on a whim a few years ago and just becoming increasingly interested in reading about Victoria and the period as a whole.

Prioritizing “real life” over BookTube? That sounds like The Madness of King Micah!

What an interesting haul and reading update. I’m interested now in The Victorians! I saw HW Brands speak at a fundraiser a few years back. What an engaging author. I’m glad to be reminded of his books.

Thanks, Renee! Oh wow, that's so great that you got to hear him speak! He's very engaging from the clips I've seen of his talks on RU-vid.

Yes, I am interested in your opinion of Brand's TR. I've read his bio on Andrew Jackson and would like to read more of Brarnds books. I'm a big fan of TR and have read many books about him. Also, will be interested in your opinion on The Crucible. Never read the book, but I have seen it on stage and the Movie with Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder. Anything with Lewis is worth seeing.

Thank you for your comment, Franklin! I'll be sure to talk about Brand's TR when I read it. Hopefully, I'll be getting to that early to mid-next year. I'll add The Crucible movie to my watch list. Thank you for the recommendation!

Good to see you back. Great haul too. The book on the rulers' bloodline looks interesting. I used the book on the Victorians for my degree, it's a good book and I'm more interested in social history than the history of the monarchs so that book suits me well. I studied The Crucible in school too and that's amazing. Great video mate.

Thank you, Gareth! I agree with you, I have started mainly reading social histories instead of just the monarchy or military aspects of countries' histories and it's been really rewarding.

It’s cardigan season! 🍂 I’m glad to know about The Victorians. I’ve been concentrating on Victorian lit for the past couple of years but have only general knowledge of the history and politics. I’ve read The Five and Ruth Goodman’s How to be a Victorian (both excellent) but need more.

It is indeed! I would highly recommend it! I loved it. It's really detailed so it feels like you get all the information you could need. I still need to get to Goodman's How to be a Victorian, I have read her other books, but not that one yet. I'm eager to read it!

True story, the British movie The Madness of King George III, had to be renamed just The Madness of King George in the US because they were afraid American audience would have thought they missed the first two films of a franchise and not go see the third one.

You would have done better to read Lytton Strachey's Eminent Victorian's and Queen victoria bio...Strachey is a wonderful writer who combined meticulous scholarship with extremely sensitive and perceptive observations... he was a phenom...hard to top his writing...
