Acapello 13 - Kerbal Space Program

The new KSP patch includes a few new scripted missions, so I thought I'd play them live and see what surprises they have in store. With a name like Acapello 13 I was expecting things to break, I just didn't know what. But in the end, I broke the mission and saves chunks of the rocket which were supposed to be destroyed.

I think whoever wrote the mission forgot that the Mk1-3 Command Pod has a crash tolerance of _45m/s,_ which is so absolutely nuts, Scott probably could've landed without using the engine as long as the pod didn't hit first.

@shroomie108
@shroomie108 5 лет назад
Ill answer this one, the soviets launched spy satellites know s by the acronyms us-a or rorsat. Each o e had a nuclear reactor on board for power. When the satellites reached the end of their service life the reactors were launched into a higher "parking" or graveyard orbit. Although not all worked right and some came back down to earth spreading radiation. But the ones that worked right are now orbiting the earth in their parking orbits.

I don't recall where I heard this or which space vehicle it was referring to, but I remember hearing an astronaut telling a story about trying to get back inside an early space vehicle after an EVA and he had to actually reduce the air pressure and mostly deflate his suit in order to squeeze inside the airlock. Apparently, the engineers didn't take into account how much the suit expands in a vacuum at full pressure.

It's kind of interesting you can ferment a mash with saccharides and pre-sweeten with Steviol glycoside, knowing that the yeast will eat all the sugars and leave the pre-sweetening alone without resorting to post-sweetening and using potassium sorbate & potassium sulfite to limit alcohol production.

@NebulonBMedicalFrig 6 лет назад
Actually, at the speed he was going, he could've survived hitting pod-first. The Mk1-3 has a tolerance of 45m/s, which is nuts. For reference/scale, that's over 90miles/hour.
@aidenbuchler687
@aidenbuchler687 6 лет назад
Well, Scott was smart to keep the Service Module attached, because if he didn't choose to let the Command Module take the blunt of the suicidal impact with the water, he can put the service module take the blunt, meaning if his velocity is greater than the tolerance of the CM, the service module parts would hopefully get destroyed and the Command module left intact.
