My notes from the video: 1. Be patient, give yourself time and your body time to heal. 2. Exercising helped, in her case, specifically yoga in the morning. It helped her feel more focused. Do whatever works for you, just do some light exercise in the morning. 3. You're going to be unmotivated to do things. Even things like taking showers and putting on makeup. But it will all pass. 4. She gained a lot of weight coming off of adderall. She doesn't know why, but it's probably because she was eating a lot more. OVERALL, remember all these struggles of coming off of adderall WILL PASS. You'll be tempted to start adderall again. But give it time.

The reason why she was eating so much after withdrawal is because adderall suppresses your appetite, so whenever you stop taking it your hunger comes back 10x more, I experience this because I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8 and have been taking adderall since, the withdrawals sometimes are hard to deal with but overtime is easier. but that’s just from someone who can get off adderall at any time without having extremely bad withdrawals except tiredness and hunger.

By the time I finally woke up to the realization that Adderall was the problem and decided to stop taking it, I was already not motivated because the Adderall was no longer working and I refused to increase my dose. So….the good thing about that was that I felt SOOO much better once I stopped taking it, in spite of the terrible fatigue, which was very difficult. I also was only working part-time so the fatigue was definitely more manageable. I’m so glad that you discussed cutting out sugar. It will help so much with controlling weight gain of course, but also will help your mental functioning-prevent brain fog, improve concentration, etc. This was a great video-you hit on so many things I also experienced. Working on prioritizing and surrendering to not being a super-hero is critical to recovering from effects of adderall and living adderall-free.

I came off too. I was on it for many years. I don't want to blame adderall entirely because there was comorbid issues. It had a hand in ruining my life. Exercise is pretty important when you give this up. I was put on it at age 25 and quit at 42. I had made attempts at quitting but then finally I felt like crap alot of the time because of it and I had no choice anymore.

For 8 hrs was taking 15-20mg in the morning, and 3 months ago I started taking another 10mg after lunch. I got to a point where the adderall was not working, and even if I took more I would not get a response or I felt worse. I had to just get off. I quit cold turkey 12 days ago and it’s been almost too much. I can’t sleep and the fatigue is debilitating. I use thc in the evening just for the depression and stimulating aspect, but I don’t want THC in my life. I’m praying that my energy will come back soon. I’m 56 yrs old

@@laurenstone5436 I am proud of myself. This Sunday will be six months off amphetamines, alcohol and cigarettes.. I'm mostly dealing with what you touched on in another video, the weight gain after quitting amphetamines... I know that during the first six months it's totally normal to gain weight, right now I'm about 40 pounds over my ideal weight and it's very uncomfortable, and the motivation to exercise regularly isn't there yet.... And the cravings for sugar and fast food are intense. I know it will pass, and at least I'm surrounded by others going through the same thing, and can gain hope from those who have been through it before me. The temptation to relapse for the purpose big easy weight loss is a constant reality, but using always leads to horrible consequences so I just don't give in to the cravings no matter what

The reason for not showering or simple routines is because it damages your mesolimbic dopamine pathway which is the reward pathway. Deep down embedded in all of us is a childlike reward pathway where pleasures come from junk food, sex, pretty much anything fun. Over time we adapt to learn these responsibilities and the brain constantly wants more and more of the drug and when it doesn’t get it that’s a big reason why lack of hygiene comes in the play. It can be very frustrating but just realize it’s not your fault it’s the evil drug that’s doing it it makes responsibilities debilitating. Part of the weight gain is from your body desperately trying to get dopamine through food(mainly sugar) because it doesn’t have the drug anymore.

LIA MINELLI You plateau pretty quickly. For me, after 2-3wks I was getting no benefits from taking it. The Dr just kept increasing it. I don’t know if you’re ADD or not but it affects those who are and those who aren’t differently. For me, with ADD. The first time taking it I compared to someone getting glasses that didn’t know they needed them. You put them on and suddenly everything is so clear! Defined! Nothing is fuzzy. Colours are crisp etc. That’s how my brain felt. But it didn’t last.

Jodie Hamilton I use it recreationally which was a terrible decision. The comparison of how I felt yesterday (on it) versus today( coming down) is contrastingly different. . It also makes me really irritable and angry off of it /; ... I’m stuck in a limbo , I just wanna get things done

You do know, we are all being slowly poisoned through the foods we eat. Mainly wheat, corn and soy products which are in pretty much everything I bet nobody is truly ADD/ADHD... it’s due to the toxins destroying our brains

@shaggyalonso
@shaggyalonso 4 года назад
The weight gain is a simple combination of overeating (in response to the dopamine deficient state you are in) and the lack of energy expenditure thanks to the state of lethargy that the withdrawal inevitably puts you in. It's still just calories in vs calories out - in withdrawal you'll feel compelled to consume more calories but feel almost no compulsion to do any movement beyond rolling over in bed.
@laurenstone5436

Thank you for your input. Much appreciated 💛
@jodiehamilton8518
@jodiehamilton8518 4 года назад
Shaggy Alonso I disagree. I changed no eating habits when I started Adderall but I lost a good 20lbs in the first month. I changed nothing. It’s the drug. It speeds up your metabolism and you burn more calories. Eventually that plateaus and you maintain. When you stop taking it EVERYTHING SLOWWWWS DOWN including your metabolism. So if you eating habits never changed, as mine didnt... the body burns the calories slower so I gained weight. Not to mention the constant hunger pangs were horrible! I drank a ton of tea to alleviate them.
@shaggyalonso
@shaggyalonso 4 года назад
@@jodiehamilton8518 We're still in agreement, that's still calories in vs calories out i.e. your calories out increased while your calories in remained the same = weight loss.
@jodiehamilton8518
@jodiehamilton8518 4 года назад
Shaggy Alonso Same calories before, during and after. Only thing that changed was the drugs manipulation on how fast or slow the body burned them. Same calories IN BEGINNING Adderall (sped up metabolism) = sudden weight loss Same calories MID-WAY when Adderall plateaus (metabolism levels) = weight stabilized Same calories UPON STOPPING Adderall (metabolism sluggish) = weight gain. YES I felt hungrier than normal but I still ate the same. I did drink more tea, but it’s a diuretic. Long story short, I felt like a lifeless blob. Couldn’t keep my eyes open. Lethargic. Zombie like. Catatonic. Moody. Aches n pains. No strength. My body felt so heavy. Thought to myself THIS IS NO WAY TO EXIST. Had suicidal thoughts (my body had become my prison and I wanted out of it) Adderall SUX!
@missld6856
@missld6856 3 года назад
@Lauren Michelle, I see it differently regarding the weight gain. I see it as your body isnt constantly moving as much as when you were on adderrall likely on the go doing things, higher heart rate on adderall the time, burning more calories more often. Just my thought. I'm trying to be conscious of that, because I quit 3 weeks ago , was on adderrall for a bit over 10 years. Trying to keep my moving since I've definitely noticed my mornings are less go go go. Appreciate listening to your video! Something I'm noticing especially the last week is my short term memory is ridiculously short term. Like very easily forgetting very simple things at home.

I only did a search yesterday on withdrawal effects cause past 2 months when I went to get my prescription filled they were out of it and was out for a day or two. I don’t abuse it and it’s prescribed to me. I don’t take all 3 15 milligram doses on the weekends if I sleep in late. I suffer from extreme anxiety and on other meds and drink a lot of beer. My doctor is aware of all this. I don’t know if some of you are talking about getting aderrall illegally or a situation like mine. I got mine filled today so I have it again for the month. I was prescribed 30 mg adderall twice daily for about five years until my doctor cut me off. So for about two years I've been buying adderall, vyvance, or whatever adhd drug I could off the streets until now nobody has any. I've slept so much that I can't sleep anymore...I'm still tired but now I cannot sleep. And the worst part for me is not being physically tired but having zero motivation to do anything...at all ! I loved getting up early, getting medicated, drinking coffee, and doing things that I love to do like working on electronics, building circuits, learning different things, and now I'm laying in bed starring at the walls. This is a great recount of the side effects of DRUGS being used to supplement our increasingly busy lives. We weren't meant to ingest lab produced chemicals in order to be "normal." Strictly against the natural law. Quit 160MG every 12 hours cold turkey in late 2006. Absolutely shitty experience. I didn't know any better. I'm still trying to recover. It really fucked my thoughts/focus.

@laurenstone5436

Started out with 20 two times a day. Then 20 three times a day. Then 30 two times a day. Then 30 three times a day. When I decided to quite, I was going through my prescription of 30 three times a day within 7 days. I'm surprised I didn't have a heart attack. I was out-of-control.

Sorry you are hurting. There is no specific timeline. Have you tried exercise? Changing your diet to no sugar? Anything to give you brain help to start functioning by itself, without a stimulate? It takes time but it is so worth it.
