Adding a manual glow plug control to 6.5 Turbo diesel

Sometimes my glow plug controller on my 93 6.5 Turbo causes me headaches. So I added a manual control to eliminate any problems. The system still works the way it should from the factory by turning the key on, just added the push button when I need extra time or when the engine is warm.

I did the basically the same thing, but ran a solenoid between the two poles on the glow plug controller, used #10 gauge wire. It works fine, however I hardly ever use it, but nice to know its there.

Good video.Thanks When we trying to start a deasel with a key on and turn than I found I don't know when is good time to fire up engine Something clicking,display shown wait to start..when it's exactly hack knows. I have truble to start even it's cold( I do plugging) piss me off. It might some other problems hack knows.thank you I ve got 2000 GMC,6.5L deasel. It's good to know professional mechanic he found out what really need.But I like that truck

What year model are those seats I’m looking at buying a 1992 single cab 6.2 longbed 4x4 and it’s got the factory bench seats and I would love to swap them over to these comfy sobs

Can you make another video with more details? Because I’m having problems with my glow plug relay rn and I already bought 2 new relays but they don’t work

What details do you need? What year is yours? Unfortunately they had a couple different kinds of glow plug relay systems on these 6.5s so if yours is different year than mine I might not be much help. Mine is a 93 and from what I have found is the most simple factory system. The later ones got the computer involved and earlier ones had alot more components involved. I can do my best to help you out but need more details.

@@mudbogger372 I bought the glow plug(standard and ac delco) but none of the 2 worked, the truck just got a new injection pump and new batteries! And the truck it’s still having a rough time starting(even when I manually heat the glow plugs with a pair of pliers) any other suggestions of what can it be?

@@mexicansalsa1522 I would make sure that you're getting voltage down to the glow plugs when you manually heat them and maybe glow them longer than you think you'd need. If you have the AC delco 60G glow plugs you can heat them a long time and not worry about burning them out. If all that checks out and it still starts hard it's possible that it's cranking to slow because of bad battery cables and/or connections or tired starter. I'm not well versed in the electronic 6.5s but since you said it has new injection pump maybe the timing is not set right or it might have a bad PMD?
