Today another video in the VS THE REST series, a new type of comparison, one running shoe in an out and out battle against many others!
I have received loads of requests for comparisons of the ADIDAS ADIZERO ADIOS 7 vs lots of other models. I shall work my way through the 2021/2022 shoes to give a real feel for how it shapes up.
Featured today are the following.

What have you made of the ADIZERO ADIOS 7 so far? Do you notice a difference in the upper over the adios 6? Does that lighter shoe make for a more versatile model?

I just picked up the Adios 7 for about 40 pounds (on conversion) Im tempted to buy the lot and keep them in a fridge to always have a fresh pair at the ready

A wonderful 10 minute ode to the Adios 7 :) I have the 6 on your recommendation and it is brilliant. However I’m still trying to put miles into this and the other ones that you coerced me into getting before buying more! And most certainly will not be buying the endorphin pro 3 and the Adios pro 3… nope, you can’t make me… of course you can….

Takumi sen 8 is the absolute pinacle at this point. For me, at least. Ultra light, ultra responsive, it is brilliant. Already bought a new pair for when i retire this one. It really is this good for me.

100% agreed, I've used them for a pure road mile that, for me, was lighning fast running (around 5:20/mi.) and I even used them in an 8 mile race that was a mix of fast roads and slogging through dirt trails through canyons and found them to absolutely shine no matter what situation I put them in. Maybe other super shoes are technically better performers for half marathon+ racing, but running has never felt as much fun for me as it does in the takumi sen 8. It's the perfect balance between a stripped down race shoe and a shoe with a modern highly responsive midsole.

Hey bud! I'm new to running and just found you recently. Love your reviews, perspective , and presentation!! As a new runner I went the untraditional route in picking shoes.....instead of going to a specialty running shoe store I researched shoes on my own, ordered them, tried them, returned the ones that didn't work, and decided what worked best for me. I did the specialty running shoe store route a couple years ago and they put me on the treadmill, did the foot scan, etc. They told me that I definitely needed stability running shoes.....well, after trying out several options they suggested I experienced knee pain and hip discomfort. I went back to running in neutrals and all that discomfort and pain went away!! The daily trainers that are working best for me now are: The Adios 7, the Puma velocity nitro 2, the Asics Gel nimbus 23, and Brooks Ghost 14. Whatcha think?

9:34 Agreed. That said, my wishlist for Adidas is to take the Adios 7 and make it all Lightstrike Pro. I don't think Lightstrike Pro based shoes require energy rods. I think they'll do fine with the same plate system that the Adios 6 or 7 uses as long as the stack height doesn't get crazy.

I love the 5k/10k marker on the Nike. As a beginner that helps out. Even after this review i still don't know for what type of running these shoes are meant for, except the Nike...... but i have a pair of Asics Kayano 28 to improve technique, but looking for a neutral shoe soon. Nimbus 25 or Novablast 3 are high on the list. But Adidas is a good 2nd. That's why i checked this review.

I found it a nimble shoe for pace and speed work. If you like a more responsive ride without the overt squash it’s good for anything.

@@EDDBUD Excellent, thank you for the advice! Maybe it's an idea to add in your conclusion something similar to the Nike Labelling? For which earthlings is this the perfect fit: Label on screen: Easy Run, Label : Recovery run, Label: 5-10k - label: Neutral shoe. Etc...

Great review Edd. Definitely still interested in the Adios 7 as a possible inclusion in my shoe rotation. I appreciate the in depth opinions and thoughts on the comparison on each. As being a big adidas fan, the Takumi Send 8 is another on my list. So super happy to see the comparison on both of these in this video. I'm so use to running with the carbon rods that this might be a great addition in place of my Adios 6. Still debating 🤔. Glad to see you overcoming the unfortunate mishap with fido 🐕 and getting that speed and confidence back. Keep ponding that pavement. Stay safe and have a great day

Edd! I must add that I just finished a 14-mike varied pace run (marathon training) in my Asics Metaracers. I love the Metaracer but I guess the public didn't. The NB SC Pacer is similar with more pop and lower. Yep, I know about the super shoes and yes plan to run the marathon in Nike Vaporfly Next 2 %. Just old school and not loving the stack height but wow the energy return is amazing!👍

Great upload. The adios 7 looks amazing, but I’m with you on the TS8. It’s the best shoe I’ve ever run in. Nick Drake is great too. ✌🏽💙🏃🏽‍♂️

also love the nick drake plug man!!! Awesome to see the adios 7 talked about so positively here in comparison to these others. I have the 6 and it is a fast breathable work horse. I’ll def be picking up the 7 at some point. I have the streakfly too and it’s gathering dust unfortunately lol

It’s an overlooked shoe as it’s not a super soft cushioned beast. At £120 for the 7 it’s an absolute steal!

The Takumi Sen 8 ,the rebel V2,skechers razor 3 or the kinvara 12 all work better as short distance racer or as a middle distance training shoe..

Edd! Great comparisons! Yes, the Nike just doesn't seem to answer the mail for what I would consider an all round training and racing shoe. To that point, I went for the NB SC Pacer, another shoe which hasn't received rave reviews but has an interesting carbon plate and as being an NB 1400 devotee answers the mail for me! Gosh, the last Adidas Adios Adizero's for me we're the 5's. Perhaps, I should check out the 7's.

I didn't catch this video until today (considering picking up the Adios 7, and now I will). So did you know Nick Drake was a distance runner in his youth? Given his tragic death overdose death from anti-depressants I've always thought it sad that he didn't continue running as a mental health aid. It sure works for me better than any drug. Strange that on the back cover of Five Leaves Left he's leaning up against a wall while a guy runs by him.

They are similar. Yet quite the weight difference. The sen is even narrower in the arch. No wide fitting on those.

They are all superb! Both 7 and sen 8. If you want ultra light go for the sen though it’s more a race shoe to me.

Excellent comparison, Edd. I need to try on the Adios and Speed 3 but they could both be too narrow. (My Speed 2s are a smidge tight depending on whichever socks I put on)

The 3 is a little wider. But I would say the Adios and speed are narrower than others.

Interesting that you say that recently purchased the speed 2 direct from saucony. Not ran in them, but I can feel my small toe on my right foot against the upper if I wear my usual socks. Less so in my racing socks. Sadly I'll be sending them back.

@@markherbert8542 I relaced them, leaving the first eyelets open which opens up the toebox a bit… also helps to tape the balls of my feet and wear my thinnest socks. It’s only 5k after all…lol

Great review as ever, shoes work differently for different people and I wouldn't use the Adios 7 as 'fits all scenarios' shoe where I would the Speed 3, Adios 6 was too narrow for me and I wasn't keen on the outsole but that's just my opinion, Speed 3's all the way for me!

Don't know why but to me Adidas runing shoes from design point of view look like they are from the 80s design, not trendy. Other brands have better designs. I love Adidas Ultraboost dna for walking. Maybe one day I'll buy some Adidas running shoes, from my expirience I am much happier with Nike shoes. Ps. New Nike Peg Turbo Next Nature are available from yesterday on Nike web, Edd did you buy one for review? I read that Tim and some others already ordered Turbo NN's... can't wait for a review. 😁

I didn’t find any need for “break-in” with the Takumi Sen8. I wore them out of the box for the BolderBoulder 10K which is hilly (net uphill) with many turns and it performed spectacularly in terms of traction, nimbleness, comfort, and propulsion/speed. I’ve been curious if anyone else who is lightweight and efficient is doing HM’s in them.

Will the Rebel 3 have a stabilizing plate? I forget what I’ve heard about it ahead of its release. I did hear the stack will be higher and definitely agree it needs a stabilizing element if that’s true.

I don’t recall if it has a plate or not. I would assume no as neither has before and the pacer etc has the carbon element.

@@EDDBUD Thanks, just trying to find a "daily trainer" from adidas with low stack, wondering if it is little more forgiving than the SL20 OG for distances of 10-16K because of the lightstrike pro in the front. Keen to see the Boston 12 probably more comparable to the 8/9 and not a giant like the 10/11. For longer distances I have already ordered the Pro 3 (saucony).

Absolutly if you haven’t tried them yet. The Adios 6 and 7 are amongst the best and also less expensive I have tried out. Still need to nab a pair of the Adios pro 3. 👍🏼

I was surprised how good the rebel 2 was it’s easily my fastest non plated shoe. I went on a easy run with it and I actually ended up been a lot faster then I intended but felt effortless . I haven’t run in my streak fly since I got injured init .. i know it wasn’t the shoes fault but I’m nervous about using it now haha

My adios 6 is far superior to my Speed 1 on 5-10 K or intervals from 200-1000 meter. But Speed is a better half marathon or marathon shoe.

This trainer is not worth more than £60 tops. It is too uncomfortable to run even 5km in & to SLOW to race in when compared to alternatives. The shoe is overpriced at £110 which is far too much for a low stack STANDARD foam shoe (except a little Pro foam in the fore foot). It actually is a shoe from an era when super shoes/ ultra cushion daily trainers had not yet arrived. You will be better off spending a little more & purchasing the Adidas Bostan 11 or consider another branded shoe to meet any racing requirements. Don't consider it a daily trainer at all.
