Sir, you could not have chosen a better military family to spend the day with. Hana and Nick are two of the best Marines I have ever known. They have both lived the Corps and gave you honest and straight answers. I've known Nick for 20+ years and he is the best example of a Marine I know. Thank you for documenting a great family. Semper Fidelis!!!

@@ZanderTheMarvelous “Marine brat” just means child of a Marine. It is common slang for children of military members to be known generally as “military brats”. Most identify further by the branch of service their parent(s) such as Marine brat, Army brat, Navy brat, Air Force brats, etc. There is a special bond amongst military brats as they grow up in a different lifestyle than other kids. The frequent moves, the parent(s) being deployed for long periods of time, small housing, lower pay, living/hanging out on military bases, using military hospitals, having a dependent ID, etc. It is just a different culture.

I thank them for serving our country. My father fought in World War II. He came home and suffered from PTSD. They didn’t really know too much about it but they gave him lots of medication. It was a very hard childhood, having to live with a father, who suffered with mental health. Now I pray for these men and women to come back, not just whole physically, but whole mentally. it is a sacrifice.

My husband has currently been active duty U.S Air Force for almost 8 years so far. He's been through 2 deployments in the middle east. Before joining he was a military child, his parents were mil to mil, so he's moved around his entire life. The military lifestyle can be tough sometimes, filled with many lows and highs. Although we might be far away from our family, the military is like a 2nd family. We've made some amazing life long friends on this journey.

Being the child of someone in the military is tough. As a kid you're met with the harsh reality that your parents aren't immortal, and that sucks. Making friends is really difficult, at least for me it was I moved every 1-2 years. My Dad served 20 years in the military, he had a decent amount of time BEFORE I was born in, but a huge chunk of my life he was active duty 24/7. I didn't realize how much my father sacrificed both physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. He's had friends not make it back home, friends who did make it back home, and couldn't cope, he also has to deal with the stuff HE had to do as well. While also being an outstanding father. I've been an adult for a few years now, but that military lifestyle has kept calling me. I'll be enlisting early next month, because I've seen the benefits. This video brought back alot of happy and sad memories. Standing in this big airport, talking to my dad, and him explaining to me why he has to deploy. Then watching him get lost in the sea of uniforms as he boards a plane. The ceremony when he comes home, but the group is smaller than before. I personally can't wait to start my military journey, but 24 hours really isn't enough time to truly understand military lifestyles, but that's really all the time you had. It is one of the happiest and saddest portions of my life, and has shaped me into who I am today. You have to grow up, and mature so much faster than the students in your age group. It kind of strips your childhood away in some ways. I've been in school only to learn about a suicide bombing on the base where my dad was, he was literally a giant wall away from being blown up, and a few of the guys he worked with didn't make it. One of my core memories was me asking why he was angry sometimes, and I think it really woke him up to his emotions. I remember him sitting me down, and telling me that whenever I wanted to stop I could. I was maybe 16-17 when he pulled out this super dusty laptop, and on it were a couple hundred photos of his time in the military deployed. They were some of the most brutal images I've ever seen, and I'm sure I don't need to mention what exactly I'm talking about. But what gets me isn't the gore, it's the videos after. They get to base, and document what they saw to talk about it. Some of them are puking outside their rooms, some are reading a bible, others are praying to whoever they worship, smoking, working out, or just shut down completely. I've seen second hand the REAL horrors of war, and I've met the people in those videos. When he talks about PTSD in the video, and individuals going through a mental health journey it doesn't just impact you, it impacts your entire family. One day you're leaving this shining beacon, and 9-12 months later there's something missing that can never be retrieved. I really like how mental health was a big focus in this video, and that more Soldiers/Marines are OPEN about talking about their own personal journeys.

I came from a non-military family, my father did two tours in Vietnam and then wanted nothing to do with the military after that and when I came about there wasn't a lot of talking about it at all, so no biasing in either direction. Ever since I graduated high school I was always willing to pick up a rifle to defend this country, the difference is I don't really believe that has ever been actually needed in my life. Now this is not to disrespect any member of any branch of the military but my feelings are exactly what were said at the beginning on the video where they are the muscle when politicians don't get their way and that is not something I ever want to be a part of, I don't find that is protecting our Constitution at all. Events like 9/11 happened yes, and the view was to protect our country we need to kill the bad guys where they live, to me that doesn't sound much like protecting as it is assaulting, now sure the argument is you're doing it so you don't have to protect on home soil, but the reality is what happened wasn't due to lack of protection by the military it was because a thin plywood door had the shave and a hair cut knock as the level of security.

Anyone who fights for our country is good in my books I've been wanting to serve for the past year I cant just yet but soon enough. But the people who talk shit about veterans and service members really need to be drafted or they get jail time because people in America or so rude to veterans I've seen so many videos of big groups protesting talking about there a veteran infront of a WW2 veteran or talking shit to one etc. I would love to see how they do obviously they would be dead really fast but you know what atleast they will realize how it really is to fight for your country and what you protect your enemy from getting. Its amazing that people talk shit to people in the military without even thinking of who they protect which is this whole country from terrorism from other countries taking over ours which they could you would be suprised. There are a lot of things they can do to cut alot off our food computer chips oil etc. On the other hand tho the people that do talk down on them feel as if they have a horrible life which obviously they don't they like bro almost HALF the countries in the WORLD have verry bad malnutrition problems yet there complaining about something like this or blm or other american bs we just want more and more and more thats how people in Western countries work. A lot of greed, selfishness, dont care at all if it isnt about them, denial, anger and the best of them all most of us have no clue what were talking about or want. We almost NEVER have the FULL STORY yet we speak on things as if we know what were talking about its very unhealthy. We are very flawed and its getting worse day by day. I hope this country the best but if im being honest I dont think were going to last very long we WILL end up in a civil war at the rate we are going and we all know who will win it... My side the side that thinks properly not this radicalism bs right side u guys talk about because no shi there are people like that except that the left has most of the radicalisms and crazy ass women and guys yet we are known for the radicalism right side which we dont associate with whatsoever. Im talking about the side that wants our country not to be 44% fat, the prices going down or minimum wages going up, someone who is a good leader in war because its coming, a politically known man that isnt right sided like trump and we need a speaker to get our country back together again because its amazing how spread we are atm. But even at these times I will give my life for the next war because I know my country needs everyone we can get to get the enemy away from our shores. Retreat hell

My Mom and Dad were in the Army National Guard and I was born at Mather Veteran Affairs Hospital in Rancho Cordova. My Brother was also Army and my Sister is in the Air Force. The Misconception about PTSD is not always dangerous to be around them. My Brother Sleepwalks the Army Drill that’s his PTSD.

I like how that one marine woman made the distinction that marines support the country, not a specific president; everyone has their own personal politics and beliefs, after all. It shows that people from all walks of life are part of the various branches of the military.

Here is some division information I know. USMC- United States Marine Corp: The marines is very elite force of the USAF. And to be part of the USMC you must pass the training. The training is instructed by a Drill Instructors aka DI's. USAR- Uniged States Army: The army is ground based force of the army if I'm correct. And to join the USAR you must pass a Basic Combat Training (BCT) and after passing BCT you get ranked up to Private Second Class (E2). And E1 is Private if I'm correct. (I frogot)- United States Navy: The Navy is like sailors and they control submarines, ships, carriers. There are sailors and pilots, if I'm correct. Some pilots use an aircraft to land on a carrier. And the sailors is basically the "main" thing. To join you must pass the Hell Week. USAF- United States Air Force: Air force is based the Air. And there is Air combat, air education, and more. Idk anymore info but the Air force is the pilots. Btw I learned all of these just from a game.
