Greetings RU-vidrs to my first video tutorial. In this video I will be covering some of the more advanced commands you can create in VoiceAttack using prefixes, suffixes, and dynamic options including:
Creating a single suffix command that can be used with multiple prefixes
Creating commands that are aware of which dynamic options you spoke when invoking them.
Download links for the profiles in the video (slightly modified):

Almost 7 years on and your advice is still relevant and (relatively) easy to follow - Thank you.

Glad to hear it. I definitely could have done a better job with presenting the information; this video was largely a result of me trying to document the process after having just figured it out for myself. Not sure of the current state of the documentation, but at the time, it wasn't great, so I wanted to make sure I'd be able to remember how to do it again in the future. I'd be tempted to redo/update this video, but I recently switched over completely to linux, and am no longer using voice attack. I haven't found a replacement yet, but I also haven't gotten around to looking very hard

Hooah!!! Great video Wells. Learned a lot here today after watching this tutorial. Will give this a try to first, create my own music list to play on VLC and then edit some of the VA's to shorten them down and have a bit more streamline on each VA.

This is so incredibly complex....and wonderful! I'm going to have to watch it about a dozen times, but it's going to shrink my command list down significantly!

Not only do you have the coolest name on the planet you've created a very helpful video. Would love to see another updated one with some more hints and tricks like passing variables and acting on it in Windows... Like passing values and setting an alarm based on input etc. Great.job!

would it be possible to get a copy of the actual multiple use suffix profile for va? i can't see alot of the screen clearly in the video, and i think that being able to see the actual profile could help, especially with the if/else command block. any response is appreciated. =)

One thing I forgot to mention: When making these complex chains, don't over do it. Every option you add causes the complexity to increase exponentially, and if the command is too complex, Windows' voice recognition engine will come to a crawl. I know I said you can go crazy with it, and in many respects, you can. Just keep this in mind and know that you may eventually run into this problem, and the only solution is to decrease the complexity.

Do you know if I can check for process? I'm making a command for Jackbox games and was curious if I could have it check to see if a process was running to determine the commands to use. Edit: I think I found a way.. to have it set a value Edit 2: so I think this would work... just can't get it to

VoiceAttack added a {PROCESSEXISTS:} token within the last year or so that you can use for this purpose. Example use: Set Text [appName] to 'notepad' Begin Text Compare : [{PROCESSEXISTS:appName}] Equals '1' Display window '* - Notepad' as [Normal] Else Run application 'notepad.exe' End Condition Please note that you *_must_* set a variable to hold the process name and pass {PROCESSEXISTS:} that variable; it will not work if you try passing it text directly. Also: this video is a bit outdated at this point; several things in it are now a lot more straightforward to accomplish.

In the program settings, go to the "Recognition" tab and lower the value for "Min Unrecognized Confidence Level". The lower this number is, the more often you'll see unrecognized commands. This number is a representation of how sure VoiceAttack is about what it thinks you said; the lower this number, the less sure it has to be in order to display an unrecognized command.
