Does anyone know what the "Headphone Sampler" song is called? 'Cause now that I heard a bit more of it, it's become a darling tune that I want in my playlist.
I love how during the recordings of the 4 AKG headphones I wasn't expecting Wade to play the other half of the song as the headphones change. Good stuff!
@@Flocano I jumped from KSC75's to DT990's cuz I hit a good outlet deal on them, but now I'm missing some closed backs. Probably will end up getting the DT770's at some point.
@@supra107unless you NEED closed back for isolation and cannot use open backs. open backs are just better in every single way and it’s not even close, 990s crush 770. my 990s compete with $2000 headphones for my taste
@@Neojhun agreed. I bought some Hbears after seeing the review on here and never looked back. $20 and they sound like silken honey dripping into the depths of my scarred soul.
I own a samson sr850, had it for 3 years now, i bought it before i discover your channel. Thank you so much to keep reaffirming my choice for me, its pretty big deal for me, since im a broke collage kid and i live in indonesia (currency conversion made me suffers), so this is gonna be the only headphone im gonna use for another 3-5 years.
Emang bagus bro Dan aku doain biar bisa beli senheiser hd600 gila 7 juta di indo aku kerja di luar Aja gak berani buat beli ya habis kuliah coba peruntungan ke Australia bro pakai whv minim kuliah d3.
dead honest, i really love the run through of the great headphone wall. crazy as it sounds, the videos on the Grados and the akg k240 studios inspired me to dive into the headphone hobby, with those to start! its been some 2 years since then, and those two sit at the top of my wall, looking down like matriarch and patriarch of their ever expanding headphone clan. recently even managed to get my hands on some jecklin floats! it feels amazing collecting bits of history and actually get to use them like they were meant to be.
just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!! It's because of you that i got my beloved samsons. i cherish them, wear them all day, even sleep in them occasionally. my sweet sweet samson sr850. thank you thank you for introducing me to audiophile headphones
Watching this video with the legendary Samson sr850s. Still can't believe how dang good they are for the money. I got them for $40 on eBay, but the ear pads were too small for my ears, so I slapped a $15 set of comically large pads on there, and now they are ridiculously comfortable and have ridiculously good sound for so cheap. I bought them two years ago and have used them every day since, bloody love 'em.
Oh since ya mentioned Dirtybuds, I've been floored over how awesome the KZ ZSTx sound. The KZ AS10 are really starting to come to life the more time I use them.
I have the ZSTx too! It’s so good to finally have a good pair that doesn’t die on me after a couple months honestly, and they sound so good! I’m never going back to the cheap sacrificial lamb of dirtybuds I was using all these years :’)
Love those Sony Boxing Gloves!! Trying to get my old Koss HD/1A cans from '81. I loved those so much back in the early 80's and then someone stole them 5yrs later out of my K5 Blazer. I want to get those vintage Koss Pro-4AA cans cause they're still making them.
Happy New Year Dingus Army, and Happy New Year Dank. Loved seeing the horde, now we just need an updated car nugg horde tour. Also didn’t you already do a video on the big stinky 1000’s??
Not gonna pretend I've seen every aftershow episode, but still gonna watch it because I love these, I have just a few vintage ones, somy mdr, and the dt770 pro
I bought a set of Empyrean Phoenix after your original video. Yeah, it was crazy, but after seeing the delicious red color and knowing that they were solid performers... They had to go home with me. Thanks for the tour.
I love listening to music through the MDR 7506's Seems like you're able to hear exactly how it was mixed with nothing added. Great clarity. Reasonably priced too. I usually use them for my Roland E kit as well.
Maybe he's finally seen all the re-uploads of his after shows and realized he could make a pretty decent chunk of change off just uploading them himself.
In his most recent community post someone asked him to make his aftershows playlist public so they're easier to find but in order to do that he has to make all the vids public
You're the reason I now have Meze Elites. I bought the Classics, fell in love, and then immediately had to upgrade. Not because something was wrong, still have my 99's and actually daily drive them. But man when I want to do critical listening the Elites just SING
Seeing your love for AKG warms my Austrian heart. Btw did you know a team of former AKG engineers founded their own company called Austrian Audio? Might be cool to compare their headphones to old and new AKGs.
Glad to hear him comment on the 58x’s, recently got some of those as my first audiophile headphones (not counting the KZ ZSN Pro X’s) and they’re amazing
Im not an audiophile. I just get the "best" headphones in a relatively expensive budget and live happily with them for years. But it takes time to research which headphones I would enkoy for years. This video gets me familiar with some brands in a quick and fun way. Im already looking to purchase one pair shown here in a year or so
I have a pair of the oneadio cans, I bought them specifically for sharing music with my lady on the train or planes. I can bluetooth to the ones and transfer cable over. Very useful in this age of no headphone jacks in most phones.
I got the odios thanks to you and they are nice. Costed me 30 euros which is a great deal. I am not that much into headphones but these are nice. I got steelseries arctis 9s and those are my standard everyday friends. Thank you for all the videos and ideas.
Oh man, the Koss 75s! They were what I consider to be my first decent set of headphones. I think I got my first set when I was in school. Them and another set carried me all the way through school, college, and Uni. I'm tempted to grab a third set just to have them again.
Alot of vintage and older headphones here. A distinct lack of some of the newer stuff and no Focals, Hifimans, Fostex, Dan Clarks, Denons or anything eh?
talking about the 70s with the best audio, I've been reading Peter Grant, the Man who Led Zeppelin, it's an autobiography about Grant. It said how when Zeppelin got onto the scene the PA systems and speakers in general weren't ready for how loud they were as a group (they were always told how overpowering their sound was) and as soon as they started gaining traction in the States the audio business followed suit, creating speakers, and likely headphones, to fit with the new wave of music. Interesting stuff
the problem with the sony dr-11s is bad clamp, they have a huge gap in the bottom becauze they dont swivel at all vertically. if you press them against your head they sound just pretty ok.
Had a pair of koss 75s when i was in jr high. They were my favorite headphones forever till a friend of mine borrowed them... he decided (max volume or he "couldn't hear it") blew the fucken things up plugged into his stereo at home. Didnt honestly know koss still sold these till a few days ago. Definitely buying another pair if nothing else for the nostalgia.
Glad to see both my old set of headphones and my current ones are on the wall of greatness, my old ones being the OneOdio's and my current being the K52's.
I though expensive headphones were a scam till i bought some aiaiai tma-2 from a pawn shop in new condition. Now ive got a taste of better sound im more interested in what else is out there
I love AKG, I had set of Quincy Jones Q701s in white and green, and a set of K7XX in black and orange. I sold them some time ago back when AKG were still kicking, because I couldn't afford to have multiple sets of headphones at the time. Sadness.
When I went back to college after visiting home over winter, I left my headphones I use for gaming at home, and they were the only wired set I had that could run out of my Xbox controller. I went to Walmart and am stuck using a $20 set. They're TERRIHLE. I'm just glad I still have my HD600s. They can run out of my audio interface AND my BTR5 (very original but I've had it for 2 years and it's great)
As the owner of a pair of K701's I can give you some tips other than they are REALLY nice to look at and sound really good for 100€ headphones: There are two types of headbands out there. One is the completely flat one and one comes with these plastic bumps that are REALLY uncomfortable. Both aren't really that nice so either make a new one yourself (or have someone make a headband for you), modify it yourself with something soft like rubber strips or do it like me and have them rest on your shoulders while having the headrest behind your head. It's not unbearable if you have the flat one, but they aren't that comfortable. Second: They tend to creak around the plastic tubes sometimes. Just give em a whack and it should be fine again. Third: The earcups are soft, but firm. They are far from squishy. Fourth: The Q701 and K701 are pretty much the same headphones with the only real difference being that the Q701's have a removable cable. They are a lot harder to find tho and usually more expensive. The cable of the K701 isn't removable, but it's REALLY thick, long and covered in thick rubber. It's heavy so tie up what you don't need and chuck it somewhere hidden. Fifth: Enjoy. Before I got my K701's i had a pair of Hifiman He400Se and as crazy as it sounds I like the K701's way more. They have a sort of vintage vibe to them and barely have any weight to them if you handle the cable situation. If you want white headphones grab a pair while you still can, because I got mine from Amazon and they went from 100-110€ to like 200 bucks.
Man you need to get your hands on some HD-800S. I've got a fair bit of the top rack and man, if you like those you will be blown away by how wide and open they feel.
Dank please for the love of god get dedicated stax energizer, that srd is more like an upscaler. Even the SRM1mk2 that came out with those original lambdas sound fantastic.
Not a bad idea to keep the aviation headphones. if theyre David Clarks, they'd probably run for a couple hundred bucks. They're only designed for voice though, and in loud environments, so they're definitely not hi-fi. Very comfortable though, and standing next to a C-130 with running engines, they're a blessing.
Preferring the Samson's over the Koss Ear clips is like preferring and iPad over an iPhone. They are not the same. Good luck going on a walk with the Samson's vs the Ear Clips.
First time I tried a pair of K712s at a hifi show, something about it just clicked with me - I also tried out a pair of Meze Elites, and don't get me wrong, they sound divine but something about the AKGs just live in my head rent free. Hell, I even preferred it over the HD650 that I also tried then
okay so those headsets that you have those are known as David Clarks or "DC" they usually are 350ish for "nice" ones, i have to use them for work since i work on aircraft and i tell you what when i get home from work and listen to my nice headphones its crazy lol
I started getting into headphones with the sr850s, good stuff. The cable broke. After that I went for the m40s, replaceable cable and good sound quality. Too bad I didn't look into the build quality issues, now one hinge has a massive crack on it while the opposite hinge is non existent. It exploded, now the right earcups held to the band with 4 zipties, loses a bit of adjustability but nothing too bad. Audio quality and these super comfey brainwavz earpads make me want to continue abusing these for another year, even with the zipties. Next I'll probably go for the 600 or 660s, they seem fun. I fear what I'll buy after those break, so does my wallet hahaha.
