The old RU-vid app was one of the best ways to use the service. Not because of any flair or features, it was as barebones as it came - which meant if was fast, clean, and didn’t display any ads… probably why they killed it, tbh.
My personal "old" iOS device that I prefer is my 3rd gen touch. It was from before the time when Apple started actively crippling the iPod touches (the 4th gen touch has only 256MB of RAM, for example) so it's basically a full fledged 3GS where it matters and that thing screams through iOS 5.1.1. I adore the crap out of the little thing.
thanks for uploading all the aftershows! been loving all the content you've been putting out. genuine passion and fun behind every vid, makes for an extremely entertaining channel! thanks for making such high quality content, and happy new year!
I have an iPad 2 that I downgraded to 6.1.3 and it does it's job pretty well. Aside from me not being able to restore any purchases in apps or they just crash, it's a really nice way to play old games tat the newer models don't support.
@@williamtcastro because it’s slow. But the iPad 4 can fix that problem because it also runs iOS 9 but it’s faster on iOS 9. It also plays 32-bit apps like the iPad 2
If you have an iPad on iOS 5, it has a cool setting where you can set up a flip screen of your photos when it is locked. It's the ultimate digital photo frame!
This brings me back. It feels like just yesterday installing Cydia on my iPod touch on iOS 4. iOS 7 was the first time I got embarrassingly excited about new software 🤣 I've long switched to Android right after that, but that old iOS just hits different.
@@harrysmbdgs I remember when the first tethered 6s jailbreak came out, was on holiday and went to a cafe to use its slow ass WiFi to download and run it. Used to do the same with android rooting, but it's not really needed anymore. Those were exciting times
I still feel nostalgic over iOS 7, 8, 9, and 10 to an extent. After that iOS felt like the same old same old, even if it looks ever closer to Android these days. Maybe that's because back in the iOS 7 days the new look was fresh, but I still think it looks nice with the gradients and such. Nothing beats iOS 4-6 though.
What’s surprising is I have a Galaxy Tab 3 10.3 from 2013 and it is UTTERLY USELESS, no App Store, no modern browser, email app doesn’t work, even the damn weather widgets don’t update anymore. It’s actually insane how much more usable this OLDER iPad is than the Tab 3, which rarely got any updates itself.
Imagine what could happen if someone tells you that you can install any old apk on it and it will work. You know, this weird tech for poor people that allows you to do what you please, and not what the company which produced it tells you to - you never know what to expect from it.
I’ve never seen anyone else ever play GOF2 before. One of my top 5 games on any console of all time. I bought all the DLC and everything. Such an amazing game
I love these after show uploads because now you don't have context for the episode beforehand. Like who is that lady? What's the trapezoid on the left? Then you remember, oh right, phone/ipod touch VR
The iPhone 4 was the first smartphone I ever got my hands on. A great friend of mine gave it to me for free after he upgraded phones and that was the coolest phone I had ever had in school it had so much more music on it
I remember playing Linerider on the school computers during study hall. Then when the ipod touch came out and my friends started to get them, we were all amazed that you could play Linerider on them.
4:00 Oh my god, back when i got my iphone 3GS this was the game that i would always play. I really miss it and wish that the devs kept it up to date. Its so simple but it kept me busy for hours.
I remember when the original ipad came out, I spent my hard earned money I saved up to buy it and was absolutely disappointed. Thanks for bringing back the bad memories.
Thats the neat thing with age old Android Versions. If its Android 8 or newer, everything works. If its 6 or 7 most things still work. And if its even older you can still sideload most things. The problem with iOS even if you get one of these you still can't get these oldschool Apps.
so my phone broke right before christmas this year. ended up grabbing the old ipad air 1st gen, throwing my sim card in it, and it got me around. im amazed google maps and cell towers still support it
Just got a 32 GB iPad 1. Loaded lots of old game on in and it is amazing. I used to think the screen is good and now compare it the m1 iPad Pro I’m using the difference is crazy lol
Ah mate I remember getting a 4th gen iPod coz my mate had one. The nostalgia for me in this video is real man. I remember getting really pissed when I couldn't install new apps like 5 years after I bought it haha. Also there's some classics on there. I'd forgotten about coin dozer!
Hey mate! I used to have dock for my iPad 1 that added 24bit xlr in and output and midi in and out to the thing. Might be a good nugget to review. I think it’s an Alesis I\o dock
I have a 2010 ipad laying around somewhere and I charged it about a couple months ago. Haven’t been home in a week and when I left I checked the battery and it was at around 87%
oh man, that Line Rider, tho. I remember when it was just a browser game. I played it quite a bit in high school. It was one of the few game sites that was not blocked by the school's firewall
I had a first gen ipad when it launched and one day my father threw from the second floor and the only thing I still have is the MB but I loved it so much
I got an iPad mini first gen that I got back in 2018 and used it up to October 2023 as a pdf reader for reading books and manga and I retired it when I got a 2022 iPad 10
Still have my iPhone 4 and 1st gen iPad mini, and they still work. Mini is completely smashed but I can still play Final Fantasy Tactics on it, and that's pretty much it. Would really like to use the iPhone as a music player one day.
I actually have an iPad 1st gen that I occasionally use. I was able to get RU-vid working on this thing and I was also able to download Angry Birds and other games on here.
I used an old tiny Smasnug phone and I was surprised to see it run smoother than my chinese phone. It was my last resort after I dropped my then new phone, but it ran better. Phones are like shoes. If you buy cheap(chinese) ones you end up spending more than if you got an expensive Smasnug which lasts for years
You don’t necessarily have to go to the settings app to control the brightness just double tap the home button on the Home Screen and swipe then a widget and controls will appear and among one of the controls is brightness
I had the very first iPad with iOS 5 and it ran super unstable. Apps were constantly crashing. It was very slow too, even the music app was slow. I preferred the first iPad mini:)
Awwwwwwww hell yeah, iPhone 4! I still have mine booted up even though I'm over on Android now, I can't get away from my first phone. Glad to see the ole boy again. Unfortunately I think Apple is axing some of the older software support, I can't even install Spotify on my iPad 2 on 9.3.5 anymore. I think they might've removed that 'download an older version' option.
i still have my iphone 4, it has a chip in the screen that formed a single crack down it from a nail file i threw onto my bed and it landed on it, i am very tempted to fix it up and keep it as a memory as it was my first smart phone
