12:52 miss lethal? Take 2, wrath the board with 11 creatures including woe strider. Blood Artist drains for 10 while Woe Strider's power stays at 3, for total of 13?
If you have two squirrels tokens chatterfang pitiless plunder also makes infinite mana. Sac one squirrel targeting the other token both die so two treasure and two new squirrels, use the ability again using one treasure get two more treasure. Lots of clicks but essentially game winning with cards in hand.
@@snakeman830 you need a target for the ability, so unless your opponent has an infinite board to target, targeting your own squirrel is the only way to go infinite here
@@snakeman830 no, you need to sac a squirrel to use the ability. if you sac both at once the ability has no target unless you target one of your actual creatures, in which case the combo is no longer infinite.
@@poiri no, to activate an ability per the rules you select the targets before you pay the cost. so you give target squirrel token -1/-1 and later to pay for the ability sac the same token (+ a second one). The ability fizzles due to no legal targets but you still sacced your 2 tokens and get 2 treasures and 2 new tokens. The only thing this does is reduce clicks tho, afaik as i can tell, so only purpose is for arena?
@@poiri if you have full control or you're playing in paper, you should be able to activate the ability on the same creature an infinite amount of times without letting a single instance resolve. After all, the activated ability is put on the stack first and the plunderer and chatterfang triggers are put on top of the activated ability.
Seth, Grafdigger's Cage doesn't turn off Indomitable Creativity, Creativity plays things from exile not library. Anyway, yet another great deck and video! Fauna Shaman was MVP in that G1 against Elves, freakin awesome.
Chatterfang + plunderer + 2 squirrel tokens is infinite mana. Sac one squirrel to kill the other (or any other of your 1/1s) and you'll get two treasures and two squirrels. Rinse and repeat for infinite treasures.
12:56 You had Lethal if you didn't sacrifice your Blood Artist. The crippling fear would trigger him 10 times and leave a room for you to swing in for lethal with Woe Strider.
22:56 Missed lethal. Discard Innkeeper for Pitiless Plunderer, play Plunderer tapping every land but Tower. You can use the Woe Strider loop to make infinite Treasure and squirrels, then nuke the opponent’s board while scrying Blood Artist to the top. Then jam Yawg, draw Artist, and win
The final match you kept thoutsieze in hand knowing there were counterspells coming, and instead of using it to weed out the counter spell, you decided to dump all your mana into the one thing you could cast for the turn, ensuring it would get countered. Thoutsieze isn't just a turn 1 only play. It's especially useful when your opponent is running "counter or pay x" spells, since it has such a low cost. You gave up that game and that was very disappointing.
Have you actually watched Seth play for any length of time? He seems to be quite knowledgeable about the game, but he constantly punts away wins. I would imagine that it isn't all that easy to play to 100% while being so chatty and entertaining.
I've been playing Yawgmoth / Hapatra / Nest of Scarabs combo in Historic for a couple of weeks now but will have to try it with Chatterfang. Fauna Shaman is a great choice for tutoring the pieces.
This is the only deck i've played since Arena came out haha. I love Hapatra/tokens. Minus Chatterfang/Yawgmoth till recently. They really blow up the board man it's crazy. I might recommend trying to run one of's/more of these cards as well. They have good synergy along with the cards above. Lolth, The Spider Queen Carnifex Demon The Scorpion God Ammit Eternal Valentin/Lisette
@@MysteryMiyagi I played a Hapatra deck during standard. Was super fun to yank out the older people who play expensive decks. Cleaning the bord with Archdemon of Ifnir and Key to the city or cycle was so fun.
@@ComfyDents Archdemon of Ifnir and Key to the City is another wombo combo I love too! Watching people's creature's wither while your board steadily grows is a different kind of satisfaction when it works of course haha
@@LegendLeaguer 704.5j. If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners' graveyards. This is called the “legend rule.” They aren't sacrificed, they go into the graveyard
Super cool deck. Love your work @saffronolive! 1 missed interaction though: with plunderer/chatterfang, if you sac 2 or more squirrels instead of 1 you actually get infinite mana, instead of just breaking even on mana, you can also hold priority instead of waiting for the ability to resolve, because Plunderer works when it’s sacked and not when the ability resolves, so you can do it infinitely even if the opponent only have just 1 small creature…
I play chatterfang in historic brawl. Pro tip, if your opponent has no creatures to target with chatterfang you can target the squirrel token you will sac to chatterfangs ability to keep getting death triggers for plunderer instead of targeting your other creatures since the target happens before needing to sac for the cost.
You kept saying you needed Chatterfang and a sac outlet. With Pitiless Plunderer and a squirrel, Chatterfang IS your sac outlet. Especially if you have multiple plunderers or multiple squirrels to start.
I am rubbing my greedy hands together to build this Modern with heartless summoning, because you don't even need a sac outlet to combo with those two use Cruel Celebrant and Falkenrath Noble instead of Blood Artist... Grim Haruspex for infinite card draw... hoo boy!
I can see Chatterfang being a really good Commander with all those combo-possibilities. Maybe throw some token generators, tutors, protection, actual squirrels and populating in there as well and it should be a quite good deck 🤔
Double Coco, into Bola's Citadel into a 3rd Coco? I hope this opponent had clothes for cold weather, because if this is not magical christmas land, nothing is! :D
The triple block was also a mistake by you as your opponent could have stacked all the damage on one blood artist, but the attack was also a mistake as chumping with the elf was good.
43:18 that board was about to be wrath'd if you played chatter, it would died because the legend rule, hence creating a squirrel and a treasure.....too early to scoop
14:45 Seth... you have 9+ power over 5 creatures and opponent has 6 life and one blocker.... I've never seen anybody throw away lethal twice within the span of like 2 minutes
I think the soon-to-rotate *Bastion of Rememberance* could be a good *Blood Artist* backup. The human token could also be relevant if *Chatterfang* is already on!
38:45 am i missing something? whhy does blood artist trigger? doesn't the replacement effect mean blood artist shouldn't see itself die because it's exiled instead?
Hapatra, Yawgmoth, and Chatterfang! This is like a fever dream of just meme cards that everyone wants to work. Seth, you are a gift to us jank lord brewers.
