Age of Empires II: Forgotten Empires Trailer 

This is the dlc project that eventually led to AoE2DE and now AoE4

I'm here just to admire how this amazing guys went from this to the actual mastapiece game they developed over the past of these years. REAL CONGRATS MATES! You deserved all the best. AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! The people who love this game are going to be greatful forever.

Isn't it crazy how it begin with just a team of passionate AoE 2 fans that wanted to make what it was at the time a "dead game" more fun with new civs and mechanics and it ended with the release of AoE 4, new AoE 2 civilizations and a whole remaster? I don't know about you guys, but for me, i really want to say my biggest and most wholehearted "Thank you so much" for this team.

Absolutely brilliant stuff! I loved seeing the new unique units. Will there be any help for the color issues associated with AoK and Win7? As of now when I play AoK the grass is spotted red and the water has tons of purple and its all pixilated (obviously only supporting 1280x1024 or w/e).

it truly is, with maybe an exception of the total war series but they are both very different and both the best types of strategy games in their genre.

Apparently, it includes a userpatch that fixes that problem, it also adds higher resolution options, windowed mode and widescreen mode.

My Hell! I have seen a lot of good graphics for different mod packs, but that Inca Castle at 0:09 is incredible!

Can't argue with that, but I don't want to give microsoft credit for this expansion. The fans made this and drove this, Microsoft have just come in at the end to reap the rewards, they don't care about the game.

@Foos56 to fix that u just press ctrl alt delete then just click cancel and u will be back in game with good graphics :)

@Cysion So does this expansion works with 1st expansion (The Conquerors)? Btw, if this mod/expansion is so new, are there any compability for windows 7?

It's out now. Go to their website to dload it. Make sure to stay updated for future patches as they're still perfecting it.

Are there gonna be unique techs for existing civs (brits, franks etc). I noticed that the new ones have a unique tech in castle age as well as in imp.

By the way, everything I said is on the "computer" setting. I will try the other ones (like "Principality" you said). It might turn up to be good.

I think its amazing they took time to make this game look perfect, i like the new add ons and everything , i seen a picture of a map which i really cant wait for , its like 4 spawn points on a hill and then bushes aroun the map, it looks like a starcraft2 kinda map thing and i thinm thats amazing , my only ,concern is how do u get ur vils down the spawn point cliff :/ overall great job and this channels gettin extra few subs ;)

AOE2 is one of the best games ever made (if not the best). There is not another game out there that has held my attention or delighted me the way AOE has or for as many years. Most games that come out today are irrelevent for me within a couple of years but AOE2 is timeless and I expect to still be playing it in 20 years from now.

I don't know about the AoE II: Forgotten Empires, but in AoE II, closing explorer.exe process via task manager fixes the color bug for me ( as it bugs out because of Windows 7 aero effects ). Closing that process will make the toolbar disappear, untill launched again. To return it back to normal (once needed): open task manager -> file (top left), and type in explorer.exe and hit enter. Hope that helps, in case you weren't aware of that "temporal" solution already.

I want to buy this just to have the ability to make ludaKRIS maps,but the civs and the extras are nice too.

I see. So, Principality is more of a defensive AI rather than offensive. Computer is the default AI you see. When you select AI on the Random Map near the player's civilization, don't you have among the "The Horde", "Principality", etc, a "Computer" option as well? It's the very first one, I think.

I noticed a slow development at the begining in most of my games, to be honest. Even in principality, the opponent doesn't start creating soldiers until Castle Age I think. In some of my other games I got attacked earlier though. I will try Barabrian and Crusade as well. So, which is the AI where the opponent creates massive amount of soldiers? And do you know exactly what the "Computer" AI is? Is it just random selection between the available AIs, or is it another AI by itself?

Probably! I just completed a match with "Principality" on Easiest. It seemed easier than before that's for sure. However, I think I should test Principality on Standard. From my experience so far, however, no matter what combination of difficulty and AI behaviour you choose, the game is going to be around 2-3 times harder than it was on the original series.

This is why I still keep my AoE2 copy :D

Was excited to learn that the widescreen fix was available for AoE2, but I just hope that AoEO pulls some bigger maps out of their hat to be honest. My eyes must be deceiving me, I didn't notice anything new (maybe the Incan pyramid).

Will this mod be released for the HD version? When? And it would be great and more realistic if Byzantines buildings would use the italian sprites (no more monasteries like mosques). Is this now for AoK or TC (because I see in one scene Korean units)?

I hope you know Steam is bringing it back in HD! I hope this comes out in the workshop as a download too! :D
