Finding out that a tik toker stops herself from laughing, sleeping comfortably and literally going outside just to fit into a beauty standard truly is some dystopian hellscape shit. Like first I laughed at how privileged and out of touch she is, but then I thought about how many meaningful life experiences she would have missed out on despite having the time and money for it and that shit's just sad.
The only thing that could make this worse is if someone made disposable, single use versions of the anti-wrinkle straws. They won't, and I can sleep easy on my side because of it.
I feel like "Aging gracefully" is about, like, leaning into your aging and developing your style alongside it, not about desperately trying to prevent it
that's the original meaning but of course these tiktok dermatologists and ps surgeons have twisted it into a concept that will give them the most customers
As an older millennial, who has taken pretty good care of himself, I can attest that these people will have a rude wake up call when they realize that no matter what they do, aging does in fact happen.
Honestly, the one that's like "we know" with the eye roll deserves the reality check. In the end, we'll be old and wrinkly and happy, they'll just be old and wrinkly.
Esthetician here: Reminder that emotionless girl has no proof that not showing emotions will prevent wrinkles. She won't know until she gets much older, which she will inevitably get wrinkles anyway because everyone's collagen and elastin dies and there's nothing you can do about it 😊 also a large portion of good skin is genetics.
In your opinion, do you think she has botox? I don't intend to shame her and she denied it but it really looks like she has had a few injections and I'm basing that on seeing people that have had it.
T pose? No, rookie mistake. It's better to stand in an A pose instead, so as not to wrinkle your shoulders Edit: Please learn to Noclip safely. Thank you. Important notice: please give likes to 🌱Teak🌱 a bit lower from my comment FAQ: 1) Is teak a liar? [I don't care] 2) Teak is legit [I have basic human empathy]
I think the stress of trying to not sleep on your face, doing a 281-step skin care routine, trying not to smile, frown or move your face at all… will probably age you way faster than just enjoying your life
The way that this anti aging movement on TikTok looks-like the addiction and obsession aspect of it-makes me think that this is a slippery slope to basically ending up mentally where people with EDs are at. It may be substantially less harmful physically, but the mental toll will probably be just as bad.
Literally...like imagine you get shot and you're laying on your back about to die, will you be satisfied that you spent 75% of your energy on trying to avoid aging??? Its good to take care of yourself but jeez this is insane
The saddest thing about that anti-wrinkle straw is that it's actually supposed to be like, a disability aid. It was not invented with anti-aging in mind. But of course tiktok girlies co-opted it 🙄
Every single thing meant to assist disabilities gets taken over by those who don't need it and either becomes incredibly expensive, goes out of stock, or ends up banned in places like school and its absolutely infuriating. These aids are not toys.
Source? I googled straws for disabilities and nothing that resembled the one from tiktok came up. Then i googled anti aging straw and dozens of them came up..
as someone who’s suffered with depression and suicidal tendencies me getting older is a massive achievement i didn’t think i would get past age 15 seeing myself grow and change is so important for me
@@lawlietedit5744Its absolutely stupid and ridiculous, not using a muscle makes them atrophy over time and guess what do paper thin muscles do? Not hold the skin tightly for sure. Its amazing to me people could think this was a good idea, do they think we have muscles just for fun and that we don't really need them? Its literally like saying I never want to sprain my ankles so I just stopped using my leg muscles when I walk
Wait, so to avoid aging it is best to become Gollum - live in a dark cave where nothing happens (which means you don't have to emote), eat raw meat and eggs, sleep on the ground, get possessed by a piece of jewellery created by a fallen angel solely to do evil
@@lemin0u i just realized that girl basically using processed item onto her "pure" raw milk 😭😂 At that point, might as well just cook the food, girl :"D
im afraid of aging, but its not the physical appearance. im afraid of losing those i love, and maybe even regretting things ive done in the past, losing my agility, etc. so, i enjoy life to the fullest, enjoy the moment. aging is natural, and we should embrace it.
Exactly, like instead of the 19 step get ready routine I sleep more and read a good book, but there's also all sorts of more productive things to do... I'm not saying let's not be clean and healthy, or even pretty, but damn, if I had so much time and money I would spend it at / on an animal shelter
the fact that people would rather sacrifice smiling, sleeping and laughing to fit into a beauty standard is so horrifying. I hope these people are okay. :(
Seriously, how much do these people hate themselves? Happy, mentally healthy people don't obsess over their appearance. It makes me wonder if these people's lives are so tightly controlled by others that their appearance is the only thing they have control over, so they're going overboard.
the segment showing how much money the products cost is underrated... if tiktok is making you feel insecure about how you care for your skin, please just remember that there's a whole industry that stands to profit from you feeling that way.
Some people do need more skincare products like if you have acne, excema, hyperpigmentation etc as certain products do different things with different things/ingredients but yes a lot of these are excessive and a bit of a waste if you have clear skin already as there more basic options and cheaper products that are effective for different skin. Just a thought.
@@cherxii4781 I have atopic dermatitis and I buy one moisturiser and one ointment that I get in litre-tubs (epaderm if anyone was wondering!), there really is no need to be a tiktok clean girl just because you have a skin condition.
@@4n0mie im not saying be a clean girl, im saying some people need more than one product for their skin. If you have more than one problem, like I did, then one or two products isn't that helpful. Am I saying you need an entire closet of skincare? No, but sometimes you need a couple of products. Imagining having all of the conditions that I listed before all at once. They need different ingredients to treat because they come from different things.
Imagine getting older and seeing the signs that you've been happy and experienced joy throughout your life, and imagine being upset about that and trying to stop it. What a tragedy.
Yes, it does sound miserable and then when they get to 40 or 50 years old and I have wrinkles anyway, they’re gonna be a little bit disappointed. Wrinkles don’t come from stretching out skin, wrinkles come from your facial muscles relaxing over time.
It is tragic. Nothing in life is more meaningful to me than expressing and sharing true emotion. My face is the medium by which I sculpt my thoughts and feelings. To inhibit that expression is akin to self-castration.
@@astrowolvez Is it raw or soft boiled? Because soft boiled indicates they're at least partially cooked. Not to mention the rice that is mixed in with the eggs is usually warm, so the heat from the rice would cook the egg even further.
I wrote a whole ass essay about this in school lmao. Aging isnt bad, its a testament to the experiences and wisdom you've gathered during your life. Sure it doesn't help that the media demonizes aging but still, it sucks.
I feel like that "anti-wrinkle" straw was actually invented for people who are medically unable to purse their lips. I feel like physical limitations is something none of these "clean girls" have ever had to really think about. It's hard to have a biggest fear be getting wrinkles or losing some elasticity when real aging problems - like losing mobility or mental function - exist.
Such a good point! I wonder how the suction works too - right after I had my wisdom teeth out, I wasn't supposed to use straws because of the stitches in my mouth. These straws might cause the same problems that typical straws do, but it would be great to have a design that helps people after oral surgery. And any issues with pursing lips, either chronic or acute, would definitely mean assistive devices like this would be important
you're probably right; but it was also marketed as an anti wrinkle straw because many ability aids have to be also sold to the general public to make any kind of proffit since the ability aid market is usually handled at a much lower profit margin (and even getting into mass production is hard without some kind of proffits to feed back into the machine) It does look like its designed for someone with real issues though, no one is going to go through the engineering designed to get a straw with one closed end to function properly without either having a guaranteed profit involved, or genuinely wanting to solve a real problem.
I guess you don’t have to worry about losing mental function when you are a Girl like them. When becoming older and getting wrinkles is your biggest worry in life I truly think that there is not very much mental function to begin with. So why worry about losing it? 😂
thank you for bringing this up! im a young adult that doesnt have grate mobility in my mouth or with my fine motor skills and i hate that ppl will tell me something like 'at least your not getting wrinkles!'...i hate that a lot of the daily aids i use for things in my life have to be marketed as something like anti aging or whatever when i need it to not make a mess or choke everytime i want a sip of water. i dont need people to bring beauty standards into my entire life and they certainly shouldnt be appling it to theirs either
I just imagine her having a genuinely good and funny moment with a friend immediately cut off by her own brain because she can't smile too much. I feel sad for her, I hope she gets better, but with the amount of tiktok attention feeding into this unhealthy obsession I doubt it.
It was physically uncomfortable for me to watch, I was aggressively moving my own face muscles while watching her just to make sure my face is not paralyzed like hers
Remember when it was all the rage to keep a plastic cover on your couch, and then people realized they’d rather have a slightly worn couch that was more comfortable to sit on?

Honestly the one twitter user was right, aging is infinitely less worrisome than whatever in the world is going on with the people who are terrified of aging.
It is extreme body dysmorphia. They have likely been picked on by family members and/or grew up with a parent who had the same mental issue. It’s a real shame that body dysmorphia is treated differently than other mental illnesses. Depression, anxiety and eating disorders are taken seriously by the majority. Clean girls, worried about aging: oh no, wrinkles me, a nurse, also worried about aging: oh no, arthritis, incontinence, sensory decline, memory loss, arteriosclerosis, low impact fractures, boredom, possibly ending up completely dependant...
i’m not even a nurse and those are the only things i worry abt in terms of aging. i’m excited for the surface level shit. the grey hair, the crows feet, the physical evidence that i’ve lived through life and i’ve matured… it’s the deeper stuff that’s actually scary
Haha as someone in the medical field I relate. fr the increased risk of morbidity is what truly terrifies me Tbh i can't point the finger at the tiktok girls much, because I too am psyching myself for something that's going to happen 20-30 yrs from now. Sorry about the meandering comment, it's 2.30 am and I just had a small spiral of anxiety 🤠
Ageing is such a gift, so many in this world never get to grow old and live their life. I remember a time when I thought I wouldn't be here past the age of 16, I'm 24 now and finally feel like I'm able to live my life on my terms. Laugh lines, wrinkles and more are signs that my body is living, of enjoyment and happiness, I want all of that and more.
“aging gracefully” is supposed to mean aging naturally and NOT going out of your way to try to prevent your physical appearance from changing (i.e. “fighting”aging) lol I can’t believe they appropriated a phrase to mean the exact opposite of what it actually means
@@crimson.1172 yeah, someone needs to tell these influencers that sun damage is one of the primary causes of the face looking aged. Get out of the tanning salon and put on some sunscreen ladies. @@crimson.1172 a lot of it is based on genetics and just general life problems. I think we should just peel off our skin and hang it to dry, preserving it for decades to come. On special occasions we may wear it to show how little our preserved skin has aged.
I personally like to peel off my skin and pickle it in huge jars to help preserve it I always get so many compliments when I wear it at the office Christmas party 🥰
To clarify: sleeping on your side or face doesn’t actually necessarily cause wrinkles. It can make them more prominent when you get older but it isn’t important to make them not be there. They don’t cause any significant or even any health problems and your face looks more beautiful when it shows the smiles you’ve had and how good of a life you’ve lived.
I'm a teenager with faint lines of forehead wrinkles due to my over exaggerated facial expressions, yet not once has it crossed my mind that people would go this far to prevent the inevitable or put down others for simply living by their own preferences. smh
The anti wrinkle straw came up in my instagram explore page, and I commented that if you’re this concerned about aging it’s time to seek professional help. Someone said I don’t know how worried this girl is about aging and ranted at me. Dude, she was literally the “I trained my face not to move” girl. I get preventative skin care. I get using sunscreen, because skin cancer is no joke. I also do some of these things, but jesus christ. Aging is a gift not everyone gets. Not to be too dark, but I was so depressed once I didn’t think I’d see 16! I’m about to turn 25, an age I couldn’t even envision. I’m seeing the lines that have come from smiling, laughing, and days in the sun because I’ve lived. I’m blessed to age, and to get to see the physical traits I gained from loving my life!
You know what ages you faster than all those things? Stress and anxiety. Constantly thinking about how everything is causing wrinkles is going to age all these people lmao
Huh. I always thought my chronic anxiety would kill me faster but I somehow hadn’t thought it would also age me faster. Darn, now I have a new anxiety. 😂

Good for you for reaching out when you needed help and deleting the app! I have been excited to gray since I was 9. My dad has beautiful, thick gray hair. Even though I am so excited to see that my aging is showing in my grays and my mom's smile-induced crows feet, these videos started to make me self-concious after a few minutes. Goes to show how awfully those things affect your mind.

randomly remembering tge one tumblr user i saw in the wild, who claimed AGING was not a natural process. Also that anyone who claimed they were entirely wrong, was supporting genocide. Yes those were the words they used
Once a girl at my school tried giving me a whole 5 step skincare routine to get rid of my under eye bags. No, I don’t want to get rid of them. Yes, these are concerning and have become half my personality! If you don’t have eye bags you scare me! what are you not tired about?
Anti-aging routine - buy products $$$$, no pillow at night, no straws (alternatively, carry anti-wrinkle straw in your purse just in case), limit smiling, always hold phone at face level, wear gloves and face shield in car (if you must go out) Pro-aging routine - watch a funny movie/video every day, have some belly laughs, smile at strangers, enjoy a day at the beach, sleep peacefully
That is actually going to get you high as a kite. I like to say that smiling is my drug of choice - if you smile for 20 minutes str8 it released a chemical in your brain that is akin to a opiate / when you start the smile you don't even have to mean it - but, by the time 20 minutes go by, sure enough you do mean it. By the way, the word 'giddy' is a neurological term... HAVE A GORGEOUS DAY ! 😊
I just turned 30 and I work at a university, primarily with freshmen, and last week when I mentioned my birthday they were all shocked at my age and saying I looked “sooooo young”. And I think that’s part of the problem is that society teaches us that 30 is old.
People act like when women turn 30 they automatically look like the crypt keeper 😑 I’m 27 and there are plenty of women well over 30 who look younger than me!
im not 30 yet lol, not even near it, but I feel like thirty isn't really old, only old compared to a kids age. When I was a bit younger, my mom told me she was in her 30's and I was shocked because she looked like she was in her early 20's. So its just like comparing one age to another I think anyway I don't know how to end this comment and hwhwhsjdjdj
What's even more funny is that they say your beauty ends around 25, meanwhile the most beautiful women in the world (not to everyone but there's a reason why this women is talked about today) Marilyn Monroe, died at the age of 36. She was still considered then, and now at that age to be extremely beautiful. I just don't understand how 25 can be seen as old.
"Anti-aging" tips from like a 20-something is so funny to me. You avoid wrinkles because you're a literal child not because you trained your face not to smile 🤣
Fun fact! A russian man was hit by a proton beam from a particle accelerator on half of his face. He survived, but he now suffers from seizures and is deaf on one ear, but the half of his face that was hit has no wrinkles. Just don’t tell those people about that because next thing they are yeeting themselves into the CERN.
this scares me bc what are they going to do when they inevitably do show a sign of aging? when you build your whole life around something that WILL happen, you surround yourself with people whose love for you hinges on it and you lose everything when it does.
Kind of long story about my face wrinkles- I was in my late 20s and I was feeling pretty crappy about all the frown and smile lines I was noticing on my face. I work with disabled adults, and I had a client who was deaf and couldn't speak, but he signed and read lips a little bit. He didn't really take to anyone, but he always seemed to like me most even though I didn't really do anything different than anyone else. I can't sign, but he seemed to understand me when I spoke to him. We had a meeting with him and his mom, and he was signing to her and pointing at me smiling the whole time. Afterwards, she pulled me aside and told me that he was saying that he loved working with me and that I always made his day, because even though he couldn't hear me, my face was so expressive and "loud" that he felt like he could. And that I was the easiest to "talk" to. I had been told my whole life to "fix your face" because I've always been so dramatic with my expressions, and I knew that's why I had the wrinkles I did so young. It made me feel really good that my wrinkles had meant something more, that they meant that I had spent my life expressing my true feelings in every way possible, and that it made life a little more enjoyable for someone else. I love my wrinkles now and every emotion they represent
I needed this comment so much… Thank you for sharing your story. I was also told I was “too expressive” but like you said, I rather be aware I’m being as authentic as possible.
That is so beautiful. I have been insecure about aging but I realized that it’s scarier for me not being able to emote (whether it’s a preventative measure to avoid wrinkles, or getting Botox).
I watched this while sitting upright, staring down at my phone, outside, in the sun while laughing using all face muscles. I’m practically deceased at this point.
Oh no! How terrible for your body to get vitaminD and release dopamine from laughter. Now when you are 60 you are going to look 60 😮 (and not like a 60 year old with no emotions who stresses about which direction they sleep and who has so much botulinum in them they’re toxic) 😂
i’m a teenager with the beginnings of crows feet by my eyes, because when i smile i REALLY smile with my eyes. and ykw?? it makes me happy. it means i’ve been happy. i’ve been joyful, i have loved, i do love.

a few of the people in these tiktoks mention working in plastic surgery clinics. i'm sure there's no connection between that and their dedication to making young women deeply insecure about their appearance though, must just be a funny coincidence
My mother-in-law works for a dermatologist. My partner never cared so she never tried. But her youngest boy is so insecure about his face and she is constantly buying products for him to use. He's 14. He shouldn't have to worry about his appearance or how he will look in his 40s. It's wild
Aging gracefully really should mean “allowing myself to age in a natural manner and not trying to desperately cling to every shred of ‘youth I have left’ by dying my roots every other day so no one can tell I’m greying like a normal person does”
Right? That's what I thought aging gracefully meant. Like that one old woman who became a model despite all her wrinkles. Apparently, aging gracefully is not trying to age at all??? HUH???
@@EvilCreampuff same, aging gracefully is about accepting your age and still being able to wear a smile everyday without constantly griping about the much hotter young people
The same reason why people are afraid of body hair, stretch marks, and fat. If you aren't a rail thin flawless Barbie doll in this world then you're not "beautiful". It's cause society has gaslit us into hating our natural normal bodies.
I srsly dont get it every single person on this earth is going to get wrinkles somewhere on their body in their life these people r just so obsessed with their faces that theyd rather give up their livelihood and be constantly anxious rather than just accept that its just skin 💀
I saw this quote once and it’s always helped me keep things in perspective when it comes to aging: “growing old is a privilege denied to many” I don’t know who said it, but I think about it often. This world has tried to take me out of it a few times, so I think it’s an honor I’m old enough to get wrinkles in the first place. I wish society didn’t make women hate something that should honestly be seen as an accomplishment.
"I want to age awkwardly and clumsily. I wanna trip and fall through time and then cannonball into my casket, then I want my casket sent through a Wipeout course" - Chad Chad (not really), 2022 Words to live by.
As an artist, getting to learn to draw faces changed my whole view on beauty. I'm gonna be honest and say that deliberately making your faces uneven to make them more natural and pleasing taught me a valuable lesson. I find beauty and intricacy in wrinkles, skin imperfections, bumps, scars and bruises; they're what adds details and tell stories without the need for words. Drawing a smooth and perfect face is boring. This view on art is what made me marvel at imperfections and love every single one of them! I am excited to age and see my body change to reflect my life experiences! True beauty, in my opinion (as beauty has always been subjective, after all), is found within the marks that life has left upon you, as each and everyone of them tells a story, a memory. It is hard to love your body all the time, and it is okay to hate it sometimes. It's the bad days that make the good days shine. But I dearly wish for each and everyone of you to find pride in yourself and the marks your stories left upon you. ❤️
Love this take! I study the brain and have developed a similar appreciation for the variety of humanity knowing that each individual is shaped by their predisposed genetics and the environments they've been exposed to. Additionally, it helps to take away some of the prejudice we hold based on what society has deemed "bad" and value each person as an equally valid human being.
I relate to that so much, every little detail just makes the person look more like the actual person, they're so important. I love wrinkles, especially around the eyes or nose, it just shows that the person smiled a lot, and that thought makes me happy❤️
Yes, this is such a good comment. I feel the same way, since learning to draw I now find that faces are so much more beautiful and the best things about peoples faces are the expressions more so than facial features. You can be incredibly perfect looking but it can cancel out a lot of the interest of the face, and attractiveness is really nothing to be with being perfect it’s often more the ‘imperfect’ that we like the most.
A face marked by the many expressions you made throughout your life is infinitly more beautiful than a smooth unmoving botox face. We're humans, no robots.
When Chad Chad rang the doorbell, my dog barked. Unfortunately, this caused premature wrinkles on her furry snout, so I started her on a strict morning, afternoon, and nighttime skincare routine. We've also been working on her face muscle training which has made her look 30 years younger! She's just sperm now because we have been so successful in her anti-aging journey. Thank you for ringing that doorbell, Chad Chad. My dog looks, sounds, and swims younger.
I distinctly remember this being my final nail in the tiktok coffin before I had to put it to rest. There was a video of a woman doing a little dance or something of that nature, and I believe she mentioned her age offhandedly, because it was immediately stitched by a woman of that same age with visibly smoother skin holding up a bottle of sunscreen and not saying anything. It was incredibly condescending. When someone possesses wrinkles and sun damaged skin, it’s just something you have to live with; it must not feel great to have someone go on tangents on how to NOT look like you. I had to challenge my personal grievances about vanity. I enjoy skincare and I wear sunscreen, but it had subtly transformed into a fear of looking “aged”; I don’t even remember when I started believing it was a bad thing or what pushed me to do so. But the flippant nature of the comments on that video made me feel sick with myself.
I deleted tik tok about a month and a half ago just as this trend was starting I think. Not just because of this trend, but because of it + all the other toxicity on the app. It was also just extremely addicting and I wasn't getting anything done
I just removed it. Saw a woman attacking Jessica Simpson for being too thin, when a what 10, 12 years ago there were headlines of "Jumbo Jessica". I'm exhausted.
@Trinity M thank you for sharing your perspective, this is a great point! This absolutely does need to be spoken about and awareness should be raised. For example, even my melanated ladies can get skin cancer. I’m black myself and have had people shocked that I can get a tan let alone skin cancer. It’s definitely not spoken about within the community. Ngl I was almost happy to get a burn when I went to the Dominican Republic, so I finally understood what the hell my friends were talking about when they got burned after 10mins in the UK summer sun
i’m 43, and I absolutely love TikTok and RU-vid. I’m a stay at home mom so I am on either platform pretty much all day. Being 43, I can tell you that the amount of emphasis placed on the horrors of aging hurts my heart almost every day. It’s media telling teenagers and 20 somethings “you don’t wanna end up like this!”. Arrow pointing at me. I’ve aged gracefully, but I do have laugh lines on my face, I do have a tummy, I do have stretch marks from my pregnancy with my daughter. And I’ve never really had a problem with them, but the amount of contents that’s been drilling negativity into my head daily is really just telling me that I am a picture of what not to become. And I’m 43! I think I’m pretty.
"Old" is just a mindset. You're 43 years young and beautiful. Your laugh lines are proof of a happy life lived. Imagine how many thousands of times you must have laughed to create those lines. And stretch marks? Who cares! What's some little marks when you think about the miracle of creating a little perfect human? It seems like such a small trade off for creating a whole other wonderful human life rich with all their experiences, thoughts, and emotions. Why should any of those things be demonized? They're proof of a full and joyous life.
Just delete tiktok. I did as well and it's been no loss. It's shocking, the way tiktok sucks one in, mindlessly scrolling while completely forgetting time. I actually feel my mental health improved after no longer using that mind rotting app.
the one where she judged a supposed commenter saying that her skincare routine is too hard for them just makes me SO MAD. like istg not everyone is a rich white girl who can afford to "stay young forever". theyre playing right into the beauty industry's hands. all this does is make people afraid of aging.
The kicker is that even after all she puts herself through -- sacrificing her ability to just exist and be human, investing enormous amounts of time and money and mental space -- she's still gonna be a fully old looking lady someday. All of that just to look a _little bit_ younger for a _portion_ of time.
she definitely has botox though!! she can't not, her lips scream filler. yet she acts like it's all muscle techniques and weird shit lol. it's disturbing actually
When my sibling and i talk about these kinds of things, what we always come back too is, what's the point? What's the long-term goal? At 60 you still look 30, but you have no signs of a life well lived and enjoyed, and you've spent all your time making sure you don't look your age instead of making the most of life. What's the purpose?
The thing about skincare is that pretty much none of it has shown any anti aging results when studied clinically. There's one (I forget the name) but it's only at a specific concentration, given by prescription, and only works slightly, on fine lines. Sunscreen and moisturise. That's all you can do
not to sound corny but my dad died very young. I may get frustrated with wrinkles one day but aging is a privilege he was never afforded. This culure of antiaging can be toxic and I'm so happy you're speaking about it❤
Many of my partner's family members died before reaching the age of 40, and as a result its hard for them to picture reaching the age of 40. I've had to assure them that we are capable of reaching higher ages and that we will live longer
I cried a lot in my 30's, so I value my wrinkles, because every time I see them they remind me of how far I've come. I've earned every single wrinkle and no one can take that from me. Also, grey hair is punk. At this point, considering the messages we're constantly bombarded with, aging openly feels like an act of rebellion. 🤘
That's the thing. You won't. Because you can't stop wrinkles from happening. These people are obsessed with stopping the inevitable, and frankly it's sad.
Kids are learning this stuff. Kids are having this stuff shovelled down their throats and their parents aren’t parenting them enough to stop them. This is it, gen Alpha are screwed.
FUN FACT: The raw egg thing is NOT meant to be eaten raw in the US. In places where eating raw eggs is a common thing , for example, Japan, they have to go through extensive cleaning and bacteria checks to make sure they are safe to consume raw. The US does not eat raw eggs as a common thing so they do not go through this
Also, not cooking your eggs actually makes it harder for your body to absorb the nutrients in them bc the proteins aren’t broken down- you absorb 90% of the protein of cooked eggs, and only 50% of the protein of raw eggs.
Conversely in the UK eggs go through basically absolutely no cleaning at all, to the point where I'd routinely get eggs with little feathers still stuck to them; this is because they come with a waxy coating that seals the egg and almost entirely stops bacteria getting in, wash the egg and you wash this coating off letting bacteria in. The idea is to ensure the chickens are free from disease before the eggs are laid and regular testing of chickens and eggs makes sure of this; in general a healthy chicken lays disease free eggs. The other upside of this is it means conditions for chickens are generally better since battery farming is perfect for breeding disease and it becomes cheaper to just treat the chickens better than to constantly deal with disease.
@@fighterflight when an egg is laid it has a wax-like coating on the shell, it's semi-permiable which means it doesn't completely seal the egg but it does significantly stop bacteria getting through the shell. In the US it's standard practice to wash eggs before sale which removes this coating and lets the bacteria in; in places like the UK they aren't washed so they never lose that natural protection and can be stored without refrigeration.
@@fighterflight All eggs have this layer, the US just washes it off. Also, something they missed was that eggs last longer when they haven’t had the protective layer washed off and can be kept in the larder instead of the fridge
the hatred of ageing is genuinely so sad. it is such a beautiful privilege to grow old! every wrinkle is a sign you have emoted, every change is you evolving as a person! not everyone gets the chance to grow old, we should cherish it. we should also not spend our lives punishing ourselves for an unattainable level of ‘health’ that is more based on luck and genetics anyway. eat what you want, do what you want, and enjoy the short time you have on this beautiful planet!
A friend at one point said the wrinkles they hate the most are smile lines. I remember thinking about how odd that was considering that they show how much you’ve smiled, that you’ve had a lot of joy in life.
people used to tell me I was the most beautiful old lady back in the day. of course i didnt smile or move my mouth to talk because that wouldve given me wrinkles. weirdly enought everything below my neck still has wrinkles but thats fine nobody looks there. now im on my deathbed and when i saw all my friends and family throughout my whole life care for me in my final moments i finally smiled. my face melted.
I am a wrinkly, fat 48 year old person, and I can tell you it's a pretty good life if you have friends and a fulfilling job or hobby. So don't fall for what they are selling you - products or views - and invest your time and money in relationships and learning. Cheers!
absolutely maddening but it's almost the kind of thing that could make me feel like there's something wrong with me. when I'm asleep, how am I supposed to control my position?
Fun fact: in the US, "nutritionist" is an unregulated title. Anyone can claim to be one. Registered Dietician is the regulated title for a medical professional.
Fr, I work with a registered dietician (i work in the kitchen in a nursing home) and she keeps track of all their dietary needs, weights, etcetc to make sure they’re as happy and healthy as possible while they’re still with us.
honestly whatever these "anti-aging" people are doing is WAY scarier than the actual process of aging. like teaching yourself to not emote just to avoid wrinkles... they're like one step removed from just putting their brain into a robot shell or something
Right?? That one girl who ate literally only raw foods was extra terrifying, we process and cook things for a mf REASON. Everything she ate is an extreme danger to us when raw and she’s going to get sick eventually
Idk if the TikTok filters/overlays were making it worse or not, but all those women practically looked like robots as it is. They're so obsessive, it's terrifying.
@@froggy5748 you don’t have to worry about her, in america the eggs are treated before they’re sold so that no salmonella can accumulate in them. europe and other places leave them be bc just cooking them does the trick and nobody would think to eat raw eggs anyways. it does bug me tho that she advertises eating raw eggs cause a lot of ppl don’t know it depends on where you live if you can eat them or not
yeah honestly to me it’s treading the line of a mental illness. obsessions like these are cutting way too far into your day to day life and trying to reduce your emotions?? seems very unhealthy
Quick, tell all your friends. That TikTok person just figured out how to defy gravity, and the solution was so simple it was overlooked. I hope someone has sent it to the Nobel committee.
Skin doctors: “sleep on your back to avoid wrinkles” Sleep doctors: “don’t sleep on your back, it’s related to making you die younger and gives you breathing problems” I love life.
I'm actually wondering how you even influence that. I can't fall asleep if I'm not lying on my side, and also what is gonna prevent you from just rolling over once you're asleep? Do these people actually sleep in coffins?
