For those who are getting nothing when click on green install button while flight plan install; It is a bug on AIG with windows language. Install english language to your windows and select english as your windows showing language and restart your computer. Than it will work. After installing traffic etc. change your language back to your own language. Also the new version of AIG manager does not require alpha forum account. It requires only avsim account.

if you changed windows language to English and still not working, remember to change keyboard language to English too before starting the AI MANAGER.

tried what you said, no installs no matter how many times i press the button. Restarted pc about 3 times making sure language was 1. english (aus) 2. English (uk) 3. English (US). STILL NOTHING. Tried to install manually, the airlines I want are all non manual so I cant do that. Wasted a whole day trying to fix this, and now i dont have any traffic.

I've been waiting for someone to tackle bringing this kind of solution to AI aircraft in MSFS since the sim first came out. Thanks so much for the efforts to explain this resource in such detail! I've watched a couple of other videos on this subject. They were helpful but the extra detail you went into was much appreciated. Made a potentially headspinning subject much easier to navigate. Well your video made it super easy and yes it can take a long time if your adding every airline but I think its worth it - Granted I would I have loved this last year for some virtual lockdown plane spotting :D But glad they released it as it's got me back into my Flight Simming.

Bobby, thanks so much for an excellent tutorial! With your help, the setup process was really easy when I can see it could be incredibly daunting without your guide. One thing that I did have to troubleshoot, though, is the 255-character limitation error message. I guess due to my community folder location, AIGAI was giving me this error. I'm fairly PC-savvy, but I did not want to go and amend my registry and group settings to allow the longer file names out of nervousness for messing up a brand new computer so I tried to use the AIGAI error message tips to create a new location and link. What I did to solve- backed a few steps up. 1. Remove the OCI directory in AIGAI 2. Delete the OCI directory from your official community folder location 3. Restart AIGAI 4. Create a new folder somewhere with a much less character count from the start. I just used my G:/ drive and a folder on there. 5. Setup the OCI directory again, point it to this new folder. 6. Allow AIGAI to restart 7. Go back into AIGAI settings under the OCI directory and "create a link" 8. Point the link to your new folder location in G:/ drive. 9. Check that your G:/ drive location for the OCI directory is populated and full of files 10. Check your community folder for a link/shortcut to this G:/ drive location 11. Resume your tutorial where you open up MSFS and then Traffic Controller to test one airline livery. 12. Enjoy! Thanks again for this tutorial, your other great tutorials, and I look forward to more content from you and always enjoy your live streams! When I see the amount of effort needed to get this free solution working, I can see the appeal of Aerosoft's Simple Traffic software. I'm on the fence with both as they're both at, or just getting past the beta stage. But as I understand it MSFS/Asobo limitations make both products quite buggy at this point in time.

Exactly. However, like you say this is a beta. The process may change or improve for the future. But once it's setup, there's not much else to do. I do believe AIG is going to be the better solution long term due to more accurate models and a larger library of repaints. But Simple Traffic is simple and some people may prefer that. It's a great solution also!

Do not underestimate the term "simple." Aerosoft uses the default AI models, which are both generic and limited in variety. This means the "four engined jetliner," will have to represent everything from a Avro RJ, to an A380. It raises the question, "if default is inadequate, what is the goal of upgrading AI?" Beyond that, I would consider the product to be so simple, it is really just swapping liveries on default content, so any apparent bugs are likely the reflection of the inbuilt AI engine.

IDK why AIG makes everything so complicated. Before AIG stopped the use of FLAI things were simple. FLAI was a one step process with bunches of models.

@@ramair6424 Because everything IS complicated. You want world wide AI traffic and you want it with one click. FLAI stopped because some of the original artists refused distribution permission, making the software effectively illegal.

How are you guys finding this add-on? There certainly are a few bugs here and there but it's a very solid release for a beta! Really looking forward to seeing the rest of the models added. Great vdeo thanks. On finishing and trialling my set up i noticed that the 737 for TUI uk were not showing and indeed the paints for them were in the errors list. redownloading didn't solve that, yet i notice on your video at Gatwick they are there. Did you find some sort of workaround. Your help much appreciated.

Great tutorial! Very easy to follow and I wish all tutorials were like this. Quick question, will future sim updates cause issues? E.g will liveries be affected after a sim update and will you need to remove the AIG folder from the community folder prior to any sim updates?

Got it going .loaded heaps of airlines, probabaly taken me a full day but it runs very well. Very impressive and thanks for the videos, they helped greatly. Couple of questions. Have you noticed any fps hit? Ive only just opened a few different airports around the globe to see what spawns and it all looks correct and I can only say there is probabaly just a small hit but i dont know if thats just me, i am assuming there would have to be. Also when you spawn in and other planes spawn etc and then start moving off to take off do you think they are just following a set route to the same departing runway or is that good that we can expect the planes to follow existing METAR and perhaps take off and land on the correct runways for the conditions? Am I hoping for too much there do you think? I just rmember traffic global with XP could be hit and miss at times.

Using offline traffic yes there is definitely a noticeable FPS hit. You can use the activity slider on the settings menu to reduce the number of aircraft if you wish. That should help with frames. For offline traffic the route is predetermined (I think) as they are following a set flight plan based on past routes. However I may be wrong and they may take into account the ATIS!

My FPS tanks by about 10 fps when I inject aircraft into the simulator for some reason. I do have a pretty beefy system but nobody else seems to be having this problem.

Try lowering the density slider in the options. It does cause a pretty big FPS hit.

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm wondering if you have come across BLANK or WHITE repaints of the models when the traffic is injected. I noticed it both with some LATAM and LUFTHANSA models, where the whole aircraft is just white. I've reinstalled and retried everything and getting the same issues - at an airport where you'd expect to see quite a few of these liveries, at least 50% of more are plain white including wheels, wings, etc. I've tried verifying setup and it often redownloads many models, with no change. Can't find an answer anywhere on Google so maybe just my experience. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Pleasure, Grant! Another user had this issue and found it was because their OCI directory path was too long. They moved it somewhere outside of their community folder and the issue was resolved.

Got this working finally. It defaulted to a Community folder which was in C:/users etc but then once i'd installed it, i had an error saying the the OIC was in a directory with only 256 characters or something! Ignored it at first but then quickly learnt that it wouldn't download any airlines/plans etc. So i checked where it had actually installed to and it was trying to locate it in another drive labelled E:...So i checked that and yup, there was another community folder! Probably because i have a few drives and i installed flightsim on this one as it's a faster drive. So i've reinstalled now onto the E: community folder and it's fine now. Sorry bit of a long winded explanation but i think others may get this so wanted to post solution. Check within the AI Manager where it's installed, or tried to. Bit weird as i placed it into another folder but atleast i could figure it out from this!

I haven’t updated in a short while but it worked pretty good when I last used it, it should be good for about 85% of cases. I will update my AIG flight plans in the coming days and post an updated file 😊

I have been at EGLL for a few hours. There have been lots of landing aircraft but not one takeoff. I have 'Real-Time Online' set & 'Ground Aircraft Density' set to '0' in 'Traffic'

Real Time Online is at the mercy of Asobo unfortunately. Even if you uninstall the AIG models etc you will still observe the same - the AIG package is not modifying anything in terms of flight routing and schedules when on 'Real Time Online', all it is changing is the aircraft models and liveries.

Thanks for the tutorial Bobby. I am currently in the process of downloading all the flight plans, but every time I choose an airline to install the flight plans I get the pop-up that says "AIM was not able to download the file automatically" (15:39 in your video). When I download these files manually, what folder am I supposed to put them in?

You’re welcome! It doesn’t matter where you put them specifically. As long as you point the installer to them after downloading them the installer will deal with them. You can even delete the downloaded zip files when you are done.

Thanks for your wonderful Video. Absolutely clear instructions on setting-up AIG. Just one question: on the AI-Manager screen, when Flightplans is selected on the left menu, all the installed Airlines and FlightPlans show up as it should do. There is an ERRORS button on the top menu. Clicking it show a number of AIGAIM with airline aircraft. Please, can you explain what is all this info and what to do about it? Thanks.

Hey there! This tutorial is amazing! Very simple to follow. But what exactly does signing in to Avsim and the other websites do? Also, you may have said this in the video, but do you have to install the liveries from the livery manager for Live traffic too? So let’s say you haven’t installed some liveries from the manager, and is using live traffic, but the livery, and model of that real world plane is not installed, will the sim just use the generic models? Sorry for all these many questions just trying to clarify. Thanks!

Also, does it take a long time to open up the AI manager on second startup? Cause it taking a while. And I have a pretty beefy system so idk what’s wrong with that.

Great video. There seems to be a lot of zip files ect dopwnloaded I assume and to where im not sure. Once it is all in the system and running properly are the zip files from whatever folders able to be deleted to save some HDD space?

Good question. Obviously the initial 2 you download can be deleted. Not sure about the rest though. Not sure they actually remain on your system - they are just unzipped copied and binned.

… great tutorial … thank you👍 … I noticed you didn’t mention the buttons down the bottom in aig manager for example delete temp files … there are loads (several gigabytes) of temp files stored in C/: program data after installing the flight plans however pressing the delete temp files doesn’t seem to do anything … any thoughts?

Hey thank you so much! That's not really within the realm of setting up and to be honest I'm not that well versed in what temp data the app is storing. Having said that my temp file after installing all airlines is only a few 100mb. I would say you can safely manually delete though. Everything the sim needs is stored in the OCI Directory.

Thanks! Slow mode will use more/less RAM when scanning your sim on the very first run. Theres no option to reenable/disable after the very first run as this is the only time it is relevant.

Amazing video, thank you so much! May I ask one question....If I normally use addon linker to create links to scenery, do I need to link them all before doing the scenery scan? Or can I just rescan, every time I use addon linker to change which sceneries are installed in the sim? Also I will only use with VATSIM.. Also one more, similar to this! Sorry! Do I have to install the flight plan, models and liveries in community folder, or can I install elsewhere and then link using the addon linker?

Pleasure! And thanks for the comment. I'm not sure which scenery scan you are referring to? If you are only using this with VATSIM any scenery scan is irrelevant anyway. You can install them elsewhere and use addons linker if you wish, if you create the OCI directory outside of the MSFS community folder it will automatically create a symlink between the two.

The only thing I had to change was setting auto inject traffic to off! If left ticked AIG-TC would inject empty traffic, manually injecting the traffic solved that issue. Alternatively start the TC after loading into the sim world but who has time to wait for the app to start :D

When you fly on Vatsim other users aircraft will be injected in to your sim so you can see other players on the network. Model matching is where vPilot will choose a model or livery in your sim directory to represent another player. Without AIG usually they are just generic models. AIG improves this by having a huge coverage of models and liveries to choose from meaning the model matching is a lot more accurate.

Is it normal that everytime I try to run AI mangaer or AI controller, a new updated one appears inside the folder? And it won't open up at all until I make a full restart of the PC. Also, when I run AI controller, so many of them just start opening up.

In a zip file? Sounds normal to me. It can be a bit buggy. If it’s not starting up properly, check task manager and make sure you don’t have any other instances of either open and if you do end them and try and launch again.

A few other people had this issue so I’ll paste my response to them in here: "Gotcha, so really what you need to do is move the OCI directory to somewhere that is going to result in a shorter file path. I guess this probably happened after you had setup your OCI directory for the first time so I assume you have little to no airlines installed, right? If so: 1) Open AIM settings, then the AIGAIM OCI tab 2) Click the Remove button underneath the Current Path (probably something like "C:\...\...\...\...\Packages\Community\aig-aitraffic-oci-beta right" right now) 3) I think you have to restart AIM so do that 4) Back to the same settings page, click Setup 5) When picking a new path, choose a different directory to last time that is closer to the root folder of a drive, example - "C:\AIG\" The AIM creates the "aig-aitraffic-oci-beta" folder here and a junction link from this new path to your community folder automatically I've found. Go check in your community folder to make sure this link has been created. If you had a bunch of airlines installed you could make a backup of the aig-aitraffic-oci-beta folder and then paste it and replace the new spot after you've run the setup again."

I thought I had followed your instructions step by step however when trying to download liveries or airlines, they all say unable to download manually and go to some webpage. I just followed carefully all your wonderful explanations and instructions, but... when I set Offline trafic and I decease aircraft density to 0 (ZERO) I don´t ge any traffic, so I have to increasy density and then I get all the possible livreries not uniformed around the world, so no prevalence of SAS in EKCH or KLM in EHAM... you have som advice please or suggestion why that?

There's a few things you can do: 1) Make sure the traffic controller is running in the background 2) Make sure it is connected (noted in the bottom left of the window) 3) Go to settings and click 'Inject' 4) Restart TC

Thank you so much for this. I have tried all of the other "mods" and this works. It's beta so I can expect unusual things. This the best by far. Installing the hundreds of flightplans was not, however. Oh well. Now the airports feel alive. I do have a questions though...I use Pilot2ATC and Navigraph etc. Just curious if AIG traffic will follow the live weather active runway? One of my biggest pet peeves in other sims and their traffic was them not following the active runway, SID/ STAR etc Do they follow SID/STAR and active runway?

Great video and I found it very easy to follow and followed all the steps. However, when I am at the airport - in this case EGLL - there are no aircraft showing apart from the one I am using. I have AIG Traffic Controller running in the background and have double/triple checked the Traffic settings. There are some aircraft landing though with correct liveries. Why no static aircraft?

@@jonahsim. In my experience that’s what happens with the offline traffic. Usually as soon as you connect the TC many aircraft will appear. Bear it mind date and time can affect what you see.

Unfortunately not, it’s a bit buggy at the moment. Though I personally haven’t had that many issues with that. You could try and reduce the activity level in settings.

Awesome Video! Just a quick problem for me is that it seems some aircraft will keep glitching in and out on the stand and also all aircraft seem to be at a gate, there seems to be none moving around, and no aircraft show up as en route on the flight map. Maybe I have to give it some time?

all good til I tried to reopen the ai manager to download offline flightplans, ai manager is taking forever to get to the proper screen....I will say that just prior to this step, I moved both AI manager and AI traffic controller to a folder other than my download folder.....did that screw things up?

You need to move your OCI directory. I would first try following the steps mentioned on the prompt (use the move function on the AIGAIM OCI tab in the settings menu of AIM). Make sure you backup the folder first though if you have already spent a lot of time downloading.

Thanks a lot Bobby. I set up AIG's traffic yeterday and thanks to your great video I was able to check that I did everything correctly. My problem is that, when I go to a major airport, in the beginning there are many planes departing and a few landing. But after this first wave there is only very little moving traffic. There are only very few planes landing. Have I done something wrong or is this a limitation from the simulator itself ?

I assume you mean using offline AI traffic with AIGTC? I'm not 100% sure on that. I've noticed a similar thing but I would guess it is a sim limitation knowing how the sim is. However, AIG's work in MSFS is still in beta so it could also be they haven't worked out everything yet. I don't think you've done anything wrong.

If it is like in the past (my FS2004 & FSX time), then usually the notion has been that AI traffic, if you have a lot installed, needs about 15min to normalize, because in the beginning it has a bunch of flights running around, and the ATC has issues handling all the AI with the often abysmal underlying AI parking and taxi nodes of airports. Once the initial bunch up has been handled and those flights departed/landed it starts to normalize and become less.

I've spent several hours trying to get this to work with no success. I've downloaded BA and Easyjet, am at LGw at zilch. Strange one... Make sure you verify you've setup your OCI Directory in the proper place (your community folder). A restart of the Traffic Controller might help too.

Hi! When I download a airline, for example KLM it stops downloading and the downloading window just moves to the back of all the windows. How long after you get the sim up and running at the airport does it take for traffic to start moving around and flying in to the field.

If you’re using the traffic controller (offline traffic) it should appear immediately. Depending on the airport. You can use the map view on the TC to see where the aircraft are being injected. If using real time it will obviously depend on when there is real aircraft in the area + tracked on FlightAware.
